What type of cheese would you wear for a hat?
Me, it would be emmental in hot climes (holes for ventilation) and down home cheddar for weather dependent geographies. A good, sturdy cheese hat can bat off most deeply depresssed isoclines.

You bet your ass.
I would wear Havarti, which would look a little like a cross between a Havana straw hat and a fedora.
(isoclines!!) :)

I've always been partial to a good stinky camembert to scare away isoclines, although I sometimes combine it with gruyere to tame dike formations.
…
But forget about cheese. That's irrelevant to this thread.

A montage of fromage can provide reliable protection against a variety of atmospheric conditions.
Take pultost, for example (please). Pultost can capably evaporate even the harshest onslaught of hail, on most geographies. For true comfort, though, a layered technique works best.

Shredded parmesan on a hot nonstick pan. You can make it into a cracker, which you can then mold into a sailor hat. :)

Plus, I'm fresh out of credible rhymes.
I mean, "spawn it" seems to be stretching things a bit.
swiss cheese carefully melted directly on to someone's head with a cook's blowtorch might be eye-catching.

I seem to be cursed with the obverse.

"American cheese" is cheese in the same sense as "head cheese;" namely, it isn't cheese.

» Bath Cheese «
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Modern, farmhouse, unpasteurized, soft-white cheese made from cow's milk. It has a square shape with smooth, white penicillin rind. It is used as a table cheese. When young, Bath Cheese has a slightly grainy texture, while the flavor is mild and tart, with a salty finish. When aged, the soft, furry, white rind yields to a soft interior. The flavor has hints of mushroom and warm milk balanced with peppery, dandelion bite. The cheese ripens in three to four weeks. It has twice been a silver medal winner at the British Cheese Awards.

whoa whoa whoa whoa.
whoa. who says i'm anti-velveeta? i'm pro-velveeta, brotherman. first choice for homemade queso. all i'm saying is that we should be honest with ourselves and admit that it's not really cheese, no matter how painful the admission may be.

Yes, there are *better* cheeses. But there aren't any cheesier cheeses. Except maybe Cheez Whiz...

And, if you're like me today and have far too much time on your hands, this article explains how calling it "cheese food" was really a political/commercial response from traditional cheesemakers whose sales were being slashed.

So begins the cheesiest of sonnets
In praise of fermented curds, a homage,
For what other food may be as bonnets
Crown our heads in glory, only fromage.
For who amongst us would not gladly wish
To promenade these halls in stylish cheese,
And proudly dressed in mankind’s favourite dish
We stroll and promenade in savoury ease.
Dressed in gouda, edam or a stilton
En vogue, we catch the eye of the elite.
Poor men put a leather shirt or kilt on
But royalty wears what others can eat.
So raise your glass in praise of cheesy hats.
Velveeta on your noggin’s where it’s at. :)
