"free enterprise" party

bring something goofy to trade (hopefully in large quantities) and exchange it for other goods and/or services.

(getting mind out of gutter) ahem.

YES! definitely come over and play. and the toy bin is full of wonderful treasures for every girl and boy.

we're getting ready to splurge for the upcoming Mardi Gras party. NEW HATS! yea!

oh, and to contribute to the thread, a few more fun things:
"Bachanalian" party. celebrating all the naughty things. togas optional.
"Coming of Age Day" party, inspiried by a Japonese holiday. celebrating everything that makes you an adult.
"Trailer Trash" party. even had a car parked on the front lawn for that one.
"Drinks and Dessert" party. milder for the suburbianites. skip dinner and everyone brought sinful desserts which we maoed on all evening
"July in Christmas" to spoof all the Christmas in July sales on the other side of the year. Wear your long johns and Hawaiian shirts, it's a luau with a Christmas tree.

hahahaa!!

you're a dahl- just made my day by giving me a big one of these: :D

I'll pack up Scuba Man, the red nose and my removable eyes and be right over.

as for themed parties, nothing much. Started one once with my college roomie by filling water guns with vodka and storming the entire dorm.

condoms make excellent grenades.

I'm having a Moulin Rouge & super heroes party 1. March. At first, it was going to be a Moulin rouge party, but we worried that the men would struggle to find something interesting to wear so we decided added the super heroes. 50 people are invited, and that is much more than my flat can handle so i kind of hope that not everybody shows up .

Do you know a good punch recipe? I have plenty of rum and vodka I need to get rid of.

I don’t know about the food yet, but I am aiming for something French. Tips are welcome.

If I dress up as a French whore, will you still respect me Monday morning?

We are not big on party games in Norway, and I'm not sure if I will arrange any. Do you have any ideas?

The party will be broadcasted live on yahoo, 1 March from 1900 hours GMT +1.

Heres the invitations:

My sister and I once had a No-car drive in movie and weenie roast. We moved the TV and VCR out on the deck, and pretended we were all in cars watching the movie. very silly

we often have parties where you can't say anyone's proper name (hence the overabundance of nicknames you may have noticecd i use for the Peanut Gallery) or where we enforce the 3D Rule - can't say Drink, Drank or Drunk.

oooh, sippage hillarity!

Zyle
02-13-2003, 01:52 PM
hehe we have the no D-word rule at formals and on the session table. "CONSUME!" We aren't allowed to point either, you have to use your elbow. And dont dare drink with your incorrect appendage, the left hand must be used!

Party rules:
1) Can't hold your drink in your regular hand.. If you do you have to finish it...
2) Can't let go of / put your drink down until you finish it.. or you have to down it...

Zyle
02-13-2003, 03:13 PM
Thought of some more formal rules:
If you spill, you get a general contribution and have to down it. This can include food. Usually a nice combo of various reds and whites, some carrots, meat and gravy. oh and broccoli sprigs for decoration. If you empty your glass and don't refill you get the same punishment. If somebody asks you whether you know the rules of the game you must reply "it would be rude not to" else you must finish. The game involves tossing a 2p... if you get it wrong you down. If the person asking you gets it wrong, doesn't catch it or it doesn't go above their head, they finish. If you are holding your glass and somebody drops a 2p in it, you must get a refill and finish.

I adore formal :)

anyone party with the Little Green Man?

there is a little green man who sits on the edge of your drink. if you don't take him off before you tip your beverage he will fall off and be very cross. if you don't put him back on your beverage when you are done he will get lost and henceforth, very cross.

the rule: take the little green man off your glass before you drink, replace him when you're finished. if not, chug.

he's right, you know. every summer, the germans crowd our beaches.. usually there's more german people than dutch. and then there's also the football issue. if it's 3-0 for the netherlands at 88 minutes, the germans always manage to score 3-4 at the end of the 90 minute game. frustrating.

of course, not all germans are bad/wrong/blablabla. i know that, don't worry. it's just so damn annoying!

dickieC
02-14-2003, 08:04 AM
Do the Dutch tell the joke about the Germans getting up super-early and nabbing all the best deckchairs on the beach?

Frieda
02-14-2003, 08:48 AM
no, jokes about beer and bratwurst and being fat!

Zyle
02-14-2003, 10:25 AM
yeah, it's true that they are everywhere. We went sailing on the IJsselmeer in the summer and every flag in sight was german.

I was always told that you could always piss the Germans off if you refered to them stealing your grandmother's bicycle. Is that right Frieda?

Frieda
02-14-2003, 12:31 PM
they stole more from my grandmother than just her bike.. most of her neighbors for example..

anyway, i have no idea, dinz!

Red Princess
03-05-2003, 06:32 PM

Frieda
03-05-2003, 06:33 PM
fake cheese? like mcDonald's cheese?

Speak for yourself R.P. Velveta is the perfect melting cheese, on nachos with peppers, just like that crap you get at the movies or ball games.

while it is true tht velveeta is the best melty cheese (no grease separating, very smooth), it could really taste more like cheese

Funny you should say that Frieda one of the best meals of my life was at some fondue place in amsterdam....I wish I could remember the name, but it was right in the middle of the red light district......so good, I mean AWESOME good. It was also quite romantic, but the old b.f. and I got REAL wasted, sloppy drunk attempts at romance ain't to pretty. I can vouch for that.

Frieda
03-05-2003, 06:48 PM
especially not when armed with cheese fondue stuff..
