i make film for offset printers, i get digital files from all kids of 'designers', i have a file right now that has just about everything wrong with it, it is just plain sloppy unprofessional work. if i refuse to output the film beacause it is such a piece of crap my customer who is the printer will probably lose their customer, if i output the film my customer still may lose their customer because it is a bad file. aaaack. this is why i make fun of graphic designers

I prefer mint chocolate cookie.. lil' red from what you say I'm doing more or less the same thing for work as you. Just call those people and explain to them how they screwed you in the packaging of the original file. I share your anxiety in missing fonts and mislinked files, just don't give a second thought to calling them and _always_ send proofs. Lots of times they send crap, you print crap and they send it back. At least with a proof you'll put some of it on thier shoulders. good luck

what i do is digital prepress, i have customers that are designers who get offended if they smell the merest hint that they may have neglected something in their masterpieces. many of them figure that i am the techno-geek and it is my job to get it on film no matter what half assed stupid thing they did to their file. if i complain i am liable to lose a customer. so i fix and i fix and i collect their fonts for the next time when they for get to send them, i collect their logos for when they forget those, i read their minds and pick the right spot colors out of a 7 color file, and if they would do laser separations they would know there are extra spot colors and their crappy jpegs are RGB.and for this i get "what took you so long?"
