because in case you didn't read Frieda's message in "Concerned Citizen" yet, there are images in them that generate new spam
For the spammers:
a picture of brain maggots that I advise you not to click on (http://z.about.com/d/urbanlegends/1/0/t/7/gross1a.jpg)

I think the spammers view their own threads, well when looking at Who's Online I saw one of them was viewing his own thread.
I was looking at the vBulletin manual (http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/), it seems possible that new registrations can be directed into a separate usergroup, and this separate usergroup could have its "new thread" permission set to "no". If anyone real turns up  we can move them into the normal usergroup.
Is this something worth exploring?

yeah if you post a thread you're automatically viewing your own thread. i mean the times that someone actually replies to them--deleted another one of those this morning. that thread got 8 views.. so that's 8 more for me to delete later! :)
we had a separate usergroup once-- and yes it will be helpful-- and i really really wish i could help you there! :(
I'd like to make a tiny suggestion... if you do not have this on your computer it's free! (http://www.spybot.info/) It will keep you safe and all the places you visit :)
