I thought it would only be right to include a 70's/80's nostalgia thread.
What were your favourite programmes as a child?
I remember one called 'Benji' basically a rip off of 'Lassie' but with a cuter dog. I got one that looked just like him when I was five, and yes I did call him Benji!
Other memorable highlights include 'The Care Bears', 'Transformers', 'Bagpuss', 'The Clangers', 'The Moomins' (original version)
Those were the days......

Does it keep the bit where he sings pom-pom-tiddly-pom? And aren't all those hills rather confusing for Dutch children? :D

Funny story actually, when I was a wee lad, my uncle gave me a waterbed. Just a little one, but I thought I was the Shiznit. We moved and, while my mom was out, I thought I'd be procative and fill it up. Well it was taking forever so I figured I'd catch some transformers while I was waiting. Well the damn transformers were so engrossing that I completely forgot about the waterbed and went back into my room to find it balloning up about a foot and a half above the frame. I absolutely freaked. I was sure it was going to explode leading to my untimely death, if not by the shear force of the explosion then by my mother's vengeful hand.
It didn't explode, and my mom actually thought it was rather funny.

Small Wonder
The name of the show where the little girl was the Robot is Small Wonder.
Our Girl Scout Troop went to the Bozo Show. They gave all the kids a big box of Willy Wonka candy & the Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory book (harcover!) on the way out the door. My best friend had gone back to get autographs & missed out on the candy--she got a Monopoly game instead. I had to share my candy w/her. I remember the Scout Leader grabbed her by the arm, but got some of her hair too & said, "WHERE WERE YOU, YOUNG LADY?". My friend's mom wasn't too happy about that.
I lived for Three's Company--can't wait to buy it on DVD. Also, I remember Love Boat/Fantasy Island. Another favorite was Eight is Enough.
Underdog
Wonder Woman, the TV show
Captain Caaaaaaaavemaaaaaaaan
Plastic Man
School House Rock

i must not have watched enough tv, i have never heard of half these shows, the ones that i have heard of i don't remember watching much, i probably had my nose in a book
ugh, you were one of those. kidding.
If I wasn't in front of the tv, I was out running around causing trouble. i also learned a very important lesson quite young and that was when you're the baby in the family you never get blamed for anything....the older jerks take the fall. Mom and Dad never suspected a thing, any money missing....not me. Something broken....not me and my worst act, my best friend and I discovered Dad's condoms (yes, I'm still damaged by it) took them all and went to the park for a water balloon fight....brother had a good talking to for that, he was old enough for my father to believe he might actually be using them.
I was a very naughty girl!!!

yeah, one of those... still am.
i've been trying to turn into one of those my whole life......a friend, who will remain nameless, and i went to a party recently....the whole way there we were going over how we would behave. We were going to be fabulous, we were going to mingle, while we mingled we were going to be utterly charming, we would not allow ourselves to be overserved. We would not only take part in intellectual conversation, we would intiate it. We would discuss books we have read and places we had traveled to....we would be no less than the shining stars of the party.....five gin and tonics later i was in the kitchen showing everyone how I could touch my toes and he was doing vulgar, vile things behind me. We had failed again.

ha ha ha , at least you had fun, that is exactly the kind of distraction i could use right now. at parties i always end up in the geek corner where people come to ask computer questions because they are having too much fun to learn how to fix their own computers
well trust me on this one.....you want to get peoples attention and a party...just start bending over. Also, my warm-ups seem to go over more than the dances themselves.
Red Princess
03-06-2003, 02:36 PM
bend over? is that all? do you have to have a reason for it, like you dropped something or how does that work exactly?
you don't need any reason, if you're looking for negative attention you're sure to get it. promise
