Alexis, thank you for all the great articles, free shipping and discount codes and enthusiastic discussion concerning J. Crew. I read your blog every day and enjoy it tremendously, not to mention the money it's saved me on promotions, as well as heads up on quality issues, fit etc. There are no JC stores anywhere near me, so I never get to see anything IRL before I order. I really appreciate everyone's opinion(good as well as bad) on the blog. I know this is OT and probably not my business, but what is the subject of your thesis?

i began to be sensible of strange feelings. i felt a melting in me. no more my splintered heart and maddened hand were turned against the wolfish world. this soothing savage had redeemed it. there he sat, his very indifference speaking a nature in which there lurked no civilized hypocrisies and bland deceits. wild he was; a very sight of sights to see; yet i began to feel myself mysteriously drawn towards him. and those same things that would have repelled most others, they were the very magnets that thus drew me. i’ll try a pagan friend, thought i, since christian kindness has proved but hollow courtesy. i drew my bench near him, and made some friendly signs and hints, doing my best to talk with him meanwhile. at first he little noticed these advances; but presently, upon my referring to his last night’s hospitalities, he made out to ask me whether we were again to be bedfellows. i told him yes; whereat i thought he looked pleased, perhaps a little complimented. EMILY: peggy's here to sing a song about how a woman feels when the world tells her who she has to be.
PEGGY: no, actually i'm singing the one about the turtle stuck in her shell.
(peggy's turtle song)
there once was a turtle who lived in her shell,
the shell was her home and her prison as well.
one day she got frightened, she wanted to hide,
so she tucked her head into the safety inside.
then came a moment of terrible doubt,
she could not find any head-hole to poke out.
but a miracle saved her before her heart sank,
the magical love of a turtle named hank.

And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and it will be lost. The world will not have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is nor how valuable nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly, to keep the channel open. You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep yourself open and aware to the urges that motivate you. Keep the channel open. ... No artist is pleased. There are people whose vision has been distorted by numerous desires.
They pursue these desires; and their religion is merely performing various rituals. People put their faith in many things; and people always live according to their faith. So those who put their faith in that which is false or corrupt, will lead false or corrupt lives. Many people have a false image of me, identifying me with various bodily forms, and not recognizing my higher nature. They cannot see through the veil of mystery which surrounds me; and so they cannot see that I am unborn and changeless. I know everything about the past, the present, and the future; but no one knows me completely.
But those who always strive to do good, and who are free from every inclination to do wrong, truly worship me.
Gita 7.16-26. 28
The unity of religions
There are people who perform all the ancient rituals, who offer all the sacrifices which the sacred texts prescribe, who drink the sacred drinks, who keep themselves from committing any sin, and who pray regularly. They will be rewarded for their efforts. They will go to a realm above the earth, and enjoy many blessings and pleasures. But when these blessings and pleasures are complete, they will return to earth, and be trapped once more in the cycle of death and rebirth. Performing rituals cannot liberate a person from the chains of desire.
But those who worship me, who meditate upon me constantly, and who live in perfect harmony with me, will attain perfection. I shall not merely provide for their needs, but I shall give them far more.
I make no distinction between one religion and another. People may worship me in any form they wish. The form of worship does not matter to me; my only concern is the quality of love which is expressed in worship. I accept every kind of worship, because I am supreme.
Gita 9.20-24
Religion is but one tree with many branches. If you look only upon the branches, then you are tempted to say that there are many religions; but if you look at the whole tree, you understand that there is but one religion.
Mahatma Gandhi :)

the first progressive step for a mind overwhelmed by the strangeness of things is to realize that this feeling of strangeness is shared with all men and that human reality, in its entirety, suffers from the distance which separates it from the rest of the universe.

The living sometimes learn the touchy tricks of the traitor, the tardy and the tempted; the dead have evaded the flighty earthy future, and form to swell the retinue of retired rights, the righteous school of the invisible and the rebellious roar of the raging nothing.

But when nothing is valued for what it is, everything is destined to be wasted. Once the values of things refer only to their future usefulness, then an infinite withdrawal of value from the living present has begun. Nothing (and nobody) can then exist that is not theoretically replaceable by something (or somebody) more valuable...Indeed, once our homeland, our source, is regarded as a resource, we are all sliding downward toward the ashheap or the dump.

" We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. ”

John 7:38
New International Version (NIV)
38 Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”[a]
Footnotes:
John 7:38 Or me. And let anyone drink who believes in me.” As Scripture has said,
“Out of him (or them) will flow rivers of living water.”
mo gets the thought that this does not count as a quotation....
