I have 2 yards of this
http://www.hancocks-paducah.com/ProductImages/Large/ah6670ayellow.jpg
and I want to make something, but I'm bored of making bags, not great at making tops, and I have a ton of skirts.
Any thoughts?

lukkucairi
02-19-2008, 02:40 PM
immediate thought was pajama bottoms

fancy pants :D

Frieda

i assume that's fabric?

pillow cases & matching wall decoration
apron & pot holders
bag for frieda

or

you could make a decoration from it and sew it on a top

OMG SEND IT TO MEEEEEE!

:D

Even if you're not great at making tops, this kind is really easy to make and would work with that fabric. You should give it a go.

if you make a bag for Frieda, you hafta make one for me, btw...

pearly, do you know how to make a cape?

I'm in the market for a good pattern

brightpearl

What kind?

I recommend the Cape of Good Hope.
http://www.capeoptions.com/cape.jpg

Or something like this:
http://www.simplicity.com/assets/5794/5794.jpg
Takes a lot of fabric, but it wouldn't be hard, especially the top right version. Getting the lining straight is hard sometimes...use lots of pins.

I asked a co-worker and she said a head band. I just walked out the room. I need something time consuming, not a 5 min project.

I like the second top down, and the first one.

brightpearl

^Just spend plenty of time carefully spacing/pinning the fabric where it will gather up the bottom part of the shirt, and it'll come out great. Use all the little notches the pattern will give you, and start by putting pins around at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock, and then fill in with between...

Hey, a headband using all 2 yards of fabric might get pretty spectacular...

I hate to say it, but I would LOVE a bag made out of that fabric!

(the first thing that came to my mind was wallpaper )

brightpearl

^You know, you could adhere it to a big canvas and hang the sucker on the wall, as Frieda suggested. I think that would kick home decor ass.

or, just in time for spring ...
Vogue Pattern 2449 Trenchcoat
http://www.friendsofpr.com/kayy/FrontAUT_2306.jpg
it would be very time-consuming...and of course you'll want a matching headband. And big orange or green buttons

Wait, only two yards, huh? How about placemats and napkins?
Two pillow cases?
Book covers are always nice...make your own journals out of regular notebooks and give them away for Christmas.

Better yet, make a bunch of pillows and fill them with flax seeds - then you can microwave them and put them at the bottom of your sheets to warm your feet at night.

Apron!

This is all this fabric is suitable for if you are looking for a pattern of any significant complexity and all you have is two yards.

edited to add: It needs some really poisonous green rick rack in scallops to finish it off properly

YES! I love new haircuts, go for it. I would suggest this

or for something more dramatic this

Don't do anything drastic. Try out a prosthesis first and see if you like it first.

Just kidding. :D

When in doubt, grow it out, I always say. Or cut bangs. I recommend a side part with bangs if you go shorter.

^Seconded.

I think she did have sex with John Mayer, though. I can't speak for lukku, but that would put her one up on me, at least.

Veruki

Come to think of it, now that those two are not together I find him so much more attractive.
So Lukku, are we finally for against the haircut?

Should I actually do some work today or spend all of my time putzing around online?

(It should be noted that I have already worked 57 hours this week and I am not paid hourly)

Veruki
02-22-2008, 12:19 PM
I vote for putzing. I mean will anyone really notice if you do nothing today?

Angry Kid Hoyt
02-22-2008, 12:43 PM
Nobody really understands what I do here so nobody would ever know if i was doing my job or not.

Marcus Bales
02-22-2008, 04:14 PM
How do I get a gig like that?

Angry Kid Hoyt
02-22-2008, 04:15 PM
Just get a job in technology.

(and working for the state helps, too.)

Marcus Bales
02-22-2008, 04:19 PM
All my jobs have involved bringing in big amounts of money for my company -- do you think it's too late for me to change?

Angry Kid Hoyt
02-22-2008, 04:36 PM
Hmmm, never heard of brothels being referred to as companies.

Marcus Bales
02-22-2008, 05:35 PM
What does everyone else, think, could that be because Hoyt has never owned one?

Brynn
02-22-2008, 07:52 PM
One what? A company that makes large amounts of money, a brothel, or the number one?

lukkucairi
02-22-2008, 09:01 PM
I'd like to hire Hoyt as my madam.

you up for it, Angry Kid?

you just gotta move to earthquake-ridden Nevada, though...

Stephi_B
02-24-2008, 09:32 AM
I was just thinking about what sort of decent job I might pick after I got my title.. Having my own brothel? Maybe in combi with a club in the front?
Mmmmh.... :) Gotta ask my friend if she's in it (the one with whom I planned a Thelma & Louise thing - without the cliff jump thing though - like 5 years ago... ah, well she became teacher abroad and all - but now she's BACK!)

What do you say?

lukkucairi
02-24-2008, 10:31 AM
Steph, you *definitely* need to open a brothel.

Stephi_B
02-25-2008, 08:03 AM
^Looks like it could be a family enterprise: my sis and dad showed some interest already... though they also have set some conditions... yoy!

Nah, seriously, a brothel would be not exactly my fav business, but running a nice club.... music, people, nighttime life and all :) Gotta play lotto for the financial issue! ;)

She said of his advances
so then with her whip
She snapped off his tip
and thus ended Bales’ romances
