Next stop is Chez Saddam
And it's five, six, seven,
Open up the pearly gates,
Well there ain't no time to wonder why,
Whoopee! we're all gonna die.

The only winners of this war will be Osama Bin Laden and his followers. Not only will their great enemy Saddam be destroyed, but the USA will be clearly seen, throughout the world, as an arrogant, aggressive, militaristic superpower.
Support for Al-Quaida and its cause will grow, and their war with the West will last for decades.
Bush and Blair have handed the terrorists their victory, on a plate.

tomorrow is already a japanese national holiday- first day of spring. otherwise, I would ask for it off.
already parents are keeping their children from my classes. regardless of my stance, I am still viewed as an American, and therefore a threat.
...who teaches French, who is fairly vocal about my opposition, who doesn't hold Koizumi in contempt for supporting the US...

This morning I awoke to this country music station playing a new song. It's a pro war song that has "hit" written all over it. It talks about how there are people against this war and how the singer remembers 9/11 and the explosions and the dead. And it questions why anybody would be opposed to going to war against Osama Bin Laden...
Well, of course we're not going to war with Osama Bin Laden. And as I thought that, I was reminded of Animal House.
Bluto: What? Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!
Otter: Germans?
Boon: Forget it, he's rolling.
Bluto: And it ain't over now. 'Cause when the going gets tough . . . the tough get going. Who's with me? Let's Go! Come on! AAAAEEEEEGGGHHHH!!
That's where we are. America is rolling. All we can do is sit back and watch.
Wheeeeeeeee! (please keep your hands and arms inside the car)

This is the song I heard. Unfortunately this is what is driving this war. Regardless of whether it makes ANY logical sense. Forget it, he's rolling.
Have you Forgotten
Darryl Worley
I hear people saying we don't need this war
I say there's some things worth fighting for
What about our freedom and this piece of ground
We didn't get to keep 'em by backing down
Now they say we don't realize the mess we're getting in
Before you start your preaching let me ask you this my friend
Have you forgotten how it felt that day?
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside going thru a living hell
And you say we shouldn't worry 'bout bin Laden
Have you forgotten?
They took all the footage off my T.V.
Said it's too disturbing for you and me
It'll just breed anger that's what the experts say
If it was up to me I'd show it everyday
Some say this country's just out looking for a fight
Well after 9/11 man I'd have to say that's right
Have you forgotten how it felt that day?
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside going thru a living hell
And you say we shouldn't worry 'bout bin Laden
Have you forgotten?
Now I've been there with the soldiers
Who've gone away to war
And you can bet that they remember
Just what they're fightin' for
Have you forgotten all the people killed?
Some went down like heros in that Pennsylvania field
Have you forgotten about our Pentagon?
And all the loved ones that we lost and those left to carry on
Don't you tell me not to worry about bin Laden
Have you forgotten?
Have you forgotten how it felt that day?
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside going thru a living hell
And you say we shouldn't worry 'bout bin Laden
Have you forgotten? Have you forgotten? Have you forgotten?

you don't need to have anything in common to respect each other xerocs! you are not the only one that approves of this war.
and, it causes discussions. i always like to hear other people's points of view, and their reasons!

xerocs, I support our troops. Now that the war is on you folks in uniform deserve nothing less than our heartfelt thanks and our prayers for your safety. But America is attacking Iraq believing that somehow Iraq was involved in 9/11. It's just wasn't. America is attacking Iraq thinking it is acting in self defense. It's just not. America is attacking Iraq thinking that it will make us safer. It just won't. And finally America is attacking Iraq thinking it's the American way. It just isn't.
I appreciate your sentiment and your loyalty to the US. I disagree with the mission your commander and chief has ordered you to execute.

We are all contributing in the ways we feel able to. I personally am in danger of being evicted, and feel that this sacrifice is not something I'm willing to contribute (nor do I honestly think that particular sacrifice will help anyone). However, I will continue to do what I can.

as you go about your civil disobedience in the next few days think about this and consider spreading these concepts.
The Republicans have worked it out. If the richest 2% who own 50% of the wealth in America can buy advertising to convince the dumbest 50% who own 2% of the wealth in America that voting Republican is a good idea... well then the world is ripe for the picking.
Currently...
the Right controls the Executive Branch.
the Right controls the Legislative Branch.
the Right controls the Judicial Branch.
the Right controls the Military.
the Right controls the Media.
the Right controls most (if not all) of the Fortune 500 Corporations.
With that in mind... can you think of the other nations that had a one party political system?
The Communist Party?
The Nazi Party?

There is no doubt but that I wish I could have done more. But here's what I can think of...
I quit my job when Boeing purchased the company. I was pulling in 6 figures. Had a cushy middle management job as a division manager of 25 creative types. I walked away because I didn't want to work for a company that made weapons.
I've walked in protests in D.C.
I participated in the Million Modem March by sending my Email to both my Senators (John Warner and George Allen - both Republican) and my Congressman (Frank Wolfe, also republican) I got nice letters back to let me know that they knew where I lived.
I'm a card carrying member of the ACLU since last fall.
But mostly, I have a big fvcking mouth. I try to stir sh*t up with challenging conversation whenever I can.
I didn't work today. But that's easy. I don't work that hard most days.
While we're at it, Peg, I respect your need to go in to work. I respect your standing up on those headlines and fighting the fights you can. I'd much rather you were there fighting for the right message than sitting in the tart's boudoir eating chocolates, personally.

I couldn't join in the protest today--we had a mandatory staff meeting.
While I don't think we should be over there, I will support my dad & the rest of his unit & all the troops. I hate our president, I support our troops. The two are not mutually exclusive.
