I bought an easel today! It's one of those cheapo wood ones that you have to put together yourself, but y'all have no idea how big a step that is for me. I draw. I don't paint. Well, not well anyway. I'm teaching myself...sometimes that doesn't work all too well. :p
Also, holy Moses. Today, I was putting out frieght at work, and some of our shirts were folded around cardboard sheets. There were about twelve of these sheets. I brought them home with me. It's nice to know that spending butt-wads of cash on stretched canvases is not all that neseccary.
So yeah...all this to say, I'm taking a few risks these days. Even if they're teeny on the grand scale of life. I'm excited. Who knows what'll come of it.

Yay beck!
Baby steps are the best way to start ;)
I'm planning on taking a drawing class starting in June - the last time I did this was... wooo... 20 years ago? gah. But there's something there that needs to be developed...
Hope you'll share if you do something you're proud of :D

I miss my painting days. I did a degree in Fine Art and spent all day in a studio painting, it was GREAT.
I dont seem to ever find the time these days, must try harder! as was written on all my school reports! heh

not that hard to stretch your own canvases. canvas from the fabric store is pretty cheap

Just plain ol' watercolors. I haven't totally got the hang of how to use them yet...but I'm getting there.

I hope your cardboard is white!! :D Tis very good for watercolours!
You can cover the cardboard with 2-3 layers of acrylic white (just the same as used to paint walls). When it dries you can pain on it with oil colours.
Anyway watercolour gives a lot of possibilities and sometimes is even more difficult than oil.
Good luck and hope to see some of your works soon!

It's white cardboard alright. It's been fun the last couple of days. I've actually had a lot of time on my hands to go for it. I've started out with doing a self-portrait and a portrait of my sister. It's not all that complicated since I'm not too into anything that looks all that real. I'm good with a pencil for stuff that requires specifics, but I think I like sticking to somewhat abstract stuff when I'm painting.
