I've just spent the evening with a visiting fellow zemonkey - the notorious and celebrated BealeBlues, the Domo himself...
Our evening began, after a slogged journey through the mythic yet very, very real Los Angeles Traffic (via the 110 North), with a pass by the fabled Dodger Stadium, which, though inaccessible to us, still provided excellent nostalgic value (the placard proclaiming the entrance to its esteemed interior proudly displayed for our passing regard). This was followed by the fueling of the Lalamobile, which our Southern Gentleman insisted on funding (as well as offering a lovely non-caloric cherry-flavored beverage to yours truly, which I am still enjoying at this late hour).
We spent a fruity... erm, fruitful hour perusing the shops on Hollywood Boulevard, where our Beale, against his better instincts, diligently sought a mesh San Francisco Giants cap for a misguided accomplice back home, despite being seduced by the Guinness, Wax and Scientology Museums, as well as the Kodak, Egyptian and Chinese Theaters... He was unsuccessful accomplishing this goal, though not for lack of seeking. Fortified with a UCLA T-shirt and a set of magnificent coffee mugs purchased from an authentic purveyor of Harley-Davidson merchandise, we repaired back to my humble neighborhood and visited Palermo, an establishment long ensconced on Vermont Avenue in Hollywood, famous for its fine Southern Italian cuisine. (Tony was there, as usual, and stopped by to say hello.) There we enjoyed a sumptuous repast of Chicken Parmagiana and Gnocchi con Salsiccia Rotto (for those of you who do not speak the mother tongue, Chicken with Cheese and Dumplings with Tomato Sauce... don't get me wrong, it was damned tasty), garlic infused pastry, delectable beverages and delightful conversation.
Then we made our way over to Ye Rustic Inn on Hillhurst Avenue, an illustrious drinking establishment within walking distance from the House of Lala, had some yummy beer, and were entertained by a couple of very colorful characters (one of whom wove a tale of diving off the top of a mountain - from the seventh waterfall - in Hawai'i into a lake and, having survived this experience with only the loss of his left thumbnail, was transported to a hall by Hawai'ian teenagers who had also survived the experience to be plied with excellent malt beverage and serenaded by a ukelele virtuoso, and the other who is a prolific Guatemalan poet who is currently working on his first novel). Then we visited The Living Room, a drinking establishment across the street from the former drinking establishment, and, though we were not as delightfully entertained, had more beer, and chatted, which was very nice too. (Mind you, if some of us didn't have a deposition the next day, we would have been more adventurous in our consumption of beverages and therefore would have had more to report in that department.)
I then transported the Esteemed Personage back to his lofty hotel (the Westin Bonaventure), during which journey we enjoyed viewing the various places of business on Sunset Boulevard, somehow composing a lively and entertaining conversation from this subject matter, until I deposited him at the entrance of his towering glass crashpad, where we promised to be in touch later tonight (it now being the morning of that day), when he will be being entertained by our lovely and fabulous Red Princess. I expect to find him in excellent spirits.
Perhaps he will share his version of our travels with you at some later date... No photographic record was made of this experience. Y'all'll have to use yer imagiminations. :p

Let's see... answering the questions somewhat in order:
No, I did not kiss him. Nor did he kiss me. But we did eat some mighty fine garlic bread together. ;) And drank beer. Which is just about as good... maybe even better. :)
I did not throw him over my shoulder like a Continental soldier or any other member of the armed forces, for that matter.
I do not have a basement and therefore it would be near impossible for me to lock him up there. Nor did he come within more than 200 feet of the cats, at a speed of approximately 20 mph (we took a pass by my pad and waved at it on the way to Hollyweird Boulevard).
I didn't get him close enough to the Pacific to push him in... maybe tonight RP and I will haul his arse to the beach and make him walk the pier ;)
No, I missed the talk about blood and herring - sounds kinky.

ok ok ok-- here's a snippet....
lala did an excellent job of detailing night one, and i could not do better... so let's go on to night two...
RP showed up 'round 5:30 and, since neither of us are familiar with LA, had to think for a minute about what to do/where to go... turns out there is a revolving bar in the hotel where i stayed (as well as the elevator shown in "in the line of fire", and the elevators in "true lies" and "forget paris"), so we decided to have some drinks and revolve around LA... we stayed there for a while, chatting about, then decided on a change of venue....
after confirming that downtown LA is a morgue after dark, we hopped a car to santa monica to drink in a shit kicking bar, and discovered that we were, in fact, the most famous people that our driver had ever had in his car.... i suspected this due to my international notariety, but had to have it admitted on the record....
we arrived in santa monica and took a quick look at the ocean-- that's all i needed-- and then hit this lil' english pub to toast our resident british jackass.... our toast is on film to be published at a yet undetermined later date.....
afterward, we just walked around that little area of SM, listened to a really cool street performer, bought his CD, had him autograph it for prosperity, then capped the evening off with a coffee and dessert.... called our driver back and had him adios us back to the morgue....

this is the real story:
L.A. was very funny. I wanted to see Dodger Stadium, but lala told me it had been converted to a superfund site and she put her hand on my leg. Then I peed on myself while lala was showing me around Hollywood Blvd so I bought a cap and fashioned it into a diaper, and I didn't tell her. She took me to a Kentucky Fried Chicken and poured ketchup all over my chicken. she told me that this was called Chicken Parmagiana and Gnocchi con Salsiccia Rotto, and then she started calling the janitor "Tony" and trying to smack his butt while he was cleaning. She took me to her apartment and showed me her bedroom which she called "Ye Rustic Inn". Then she tried to get me drunk, but wouldn't drink much herself because of a demolotion she had in the morning. I asked what she wanted to demolish and she laughed and made me drink Guiness. I woke up while as she was pushing me out of her car onto the curb outside a Motel 6.
