What does your screen name mean?
And/Or... If your screen name is obvious, why did you pick it?
Definition: Most of you probably know what Ctrl+Alt+Del means. If not, and if you're on a PC, go ahead and type it on your keyboard --> Control+Alt+Delete to see what happens.
Why?: I've had many other screen names on other boards but I've always wanted to have this screen name simply to remind everyone of that sinking feeling when needing to type my screen name.

Allegro = fast, vibrant
Ng = Angie = Me
But then, most of my favorite songs are Allegro and in G. Sooo clever am I.. oh.. no.. wait..

neko is japanese for 'cat'... and my fav anime character ever is kuro neko-sama, or Lord Black Cat on Trigun. neko is also a really, really overused (( ^_^;; )) otaku word, like nani (what) and arigato (thanks) , etc.
punk is.. well... punk.
i guess that means i'm a cat punk. ... a japanese cat punk. who lives in the midsouth. niiiice.
catbelly

I am named for my little buddy Maurice's belly. In general, cat bellies are my favourite thing in the whole universe :)
Actually ... confession .... I was going to start a handle-origin thread like this, because after poking around and reading people's profiles ... I had this awful feeling that I might be coming off as a ze-stalker!! Sort of like going to, oh, say, J.Lo's site and signing in as "Big Ben." You know?
Anyway, ze if you are reading this I am not a ze-stalker! My love of cat bellies is totally unrelated to you (perhaps not unrelated to my love of Annie, though).
LadyCrow
11-01-2002, 07:37 PM
Why/how did I choose my AOHell name? Well, it all started many moons ago, and let me take you back to that time...
:: playing music from the Little Rascals ::
My brother was helping me set up my account, and I originally wanted to be known as LadyIce (anyone else know the name of the group who did that song??). Sadly, it was already taken & I had to choose a new name. I looked around the room for inspiration, and my eyes landed on a poster I have for the movie The Crow (one of my all-time favorites). Needless to say, the rest is history.
I'm also pleased to have noted that while there are others on AOHell w/part of their name containing "LadyCrow", I am the original.
:D
I've heard it said that the mask one chooses is ultimately revealing. Do you think it also applies to online names as well?
Pax,

Lady Ice. Yes, I do happen to know who wrote that song!
Arcadia
It's actually one of my favorite songs. I'm a big 80's music fan and I've always dug Duran Duran and the Simon/Roger/John offshoot "Arcadia."
One time I saw someone with the screen name "Lady Eyes." Hehe.
You are my friend now. :)

My normal screen name is "dalang" for about 99% of what I do on the net.
It means "puppet master" in Indonesian. The shadow puppet masters of the Wuyang Kulit are called dalangs. Sort of reflects how I feel about personas on the Internet- moving shadows around to compose a story, sometimes happy, sometimes sad.
I thought, just this once, I'll use my real name instead of hiding behind a fictious facade. So many people hide on the Internet, that I thought the truth would be refreshing change for once.
Besides, most of you would have one hell of time trying to stalk me.

Mine is just my last name, in Italian - I was called this by one of my vocal coaches in college (as well as Frau Stein and Miss Stewwwn by him and other professors). It's just a snobby opera thing... :) you know, La Callas, La Divina, La Stupenda, La Pietra. :D (Like I would actually be listed among them - geesh.):o
saskuoch
11-02-2002, 02:26 AM
I've been using the name Saskuoch since high school. I was an inside joke with some friends involving a dead cockroach and some dried hamburger meat on the cafeteria floor. I don't even remember the joke, just that we kept giving each other plastic roaches for a while afterwards.
chuckie egg
11-03-2002, 01:27 PM
Someone already asked me this question on the 'Tunes' thread i think.
At first I said it was just the first thing that came into my head (not making refernce to the scary doll from Childsplay) but then someone reminded me of the video game 'Chuckie Egg' from the eighties....I loved that game! So I came to the conclusion that I was indeed making a sub-concious reference to this amazing game from my childhood! :)
Well, I'm of Spanish descent so it seemed natural to choose something Spanish for my screen name. "Isabel" is a family name but I was afraid if I chose "Isa", people would be like, "Is a what?"
I grew up in a semi-tropical environment and been called "Island girl"by quite a few people in the past... I guess I kind of look the part. So, a few years ago I started calling myself Isla or Islacita in cyberspace.
It's not very funny or clever but it suits me. :)

i'm actually disappointed with my User Name on the board. if i could go in and change it i would.
the story: i was showing a friend the magical land of zefrank.com and we noticed that a new board had been added. i was, as i often am, clad in all black, head to almost toe. my feet were bedecked in brilliant colors. these socks were purchased from an artist who works solely with footwear (pun intended). i told my friend that i wear the bright socks with all black because it's chic (pronounced "sheek" not "chicK"). my friend set up my name and the rest is, well, boring history.
i would be happier with Deviate or Deviated (or DV8 as my license plate reads).
Ze, if you ever want to take on a charity case and change sonmeone's name, this is the time. Help me!
-st.
p.s. This is kind of out-dated. My user name was "rainbow chic" and is now "Deviate". ZeFrank was kind enough to change it. See new post on the new name.
beckstra
11-03-2002, 06:29 PM
beckstra is short for beckstraordinary...which apparently was one letter too long for this board...and beckstraordinary is a play off my name, and extraordinary...

Well, in case you haven't noticed yet, I'm a mad Tolkien freak :) and Eruantale - or Erunatalë, as it should be properly spelt - is my name in Elvish, as it has the same meaning as my real name.

mine came from another AOL incident. I was trying and trying to find something that hadn't been taken yet and that didn't have any numbers behind it. So I ended up with another zen type name which I am not going to say because I can use it for anything and it seems nobody has thought of it yet! I live with my brother and we both go into these webcam chat rooms, sharing the same name. Well, since most of the males in the room find me more atractive than him, he has been dubbed zenbro and I have been dubbed zenbabe. Mind you, these are pretty clean chat rooms, and a ton of fun....nothing freaky people!

now that i've raised such a stink my sn i've been asked what's the deal with Deviate:
many years ago when i was young a teacher labeled me as a deviate on a report. i wondered what it meant and eventually went to a dictionary to look it up.
to quote Merriam-Webster:
noun 1 : one that deviates from a norm; especially : a person who differs markedly from a group norm
adjective : departing significantly from the behavioral norms of a particular society
i was stung.
it wasn't until years later in high school when another teacher, in a heated argument, asked me why i couldn't just act like everyone else. then it hit me. i was a deviate. and proudly so, too.
ever since then i've considered it a pretty accurate description of me.
wow, that one was worthy of the Being Little threads...

At least in this dictionary definition:
de·vi·ate Pronunciation Key (dv-t)
v. de·vi·at·ed, de·vi·at·ing, de·vi·ates
v. intr.
To turn aside from a course or way.
To depart, as from a norm, purpose, or subject; stray. See Synonyms at swerve.
v. tr.
To cause to turn aside or differ.
n. (-t)
A deviant.
Hmm, to deviate is a verb.
Deviant is the noun form of the verb.
So you're not a deviate, but a deviant.
Blah, I see the secondary definition says that deviate can also be a noun as well.
deviate
n : a person whose behavior deviates from what is acceptable especially in sexual behavior [syn: pervert, deviant, degenerate] v 1: turn aside; turn away from [syn: divert] 2: be at variance with; be out of line with [syn: vary, diverge, depart] [ant: conform] 3: cause to turn away from a previous or expected course; "The river was deviated to prevent flooding" 4: turn aside [syn: deflect]

bealeblues... well, pretty simple, actually...
one of my favorite places is memphis-- i went to school there for a while and loved the overall vibe of the city... beale comes from beale street in memphis, with all the blues clubs, etc., like a miniature and clean version of bourbon street (which i live close to now, coincidentally)
the blues part logically follows--- being there with the blues and being in louisiana with the blues, it followed that beale needed blues, so there you go.....

No meaning whatsoever. It just kinda has a nice ring to it, don't ya think? :)
My avatar, on the other hand, does mean something. It's in memory of my sweet solid black kitty, Minkey, who went on to her next life just about 3 weeks ago at the ripe old age of 16. Her brother, Mr. Snuggles, and I are still mourning her passing.

Hmmmmm... Mine really has no meaning whatsoever. Hi.
Sorry this is such a long answer, but...
I was originally using the screen name, "Cosmic Tribe", which is the name of a Tarot deck I love,
I also had a web site, Into The Night.Net, which was partly a personal interest site & partly a celebrity fan site. After a while the site was getting bigger and bigger (I'm interested in LOTS of things) and very confusing, with these huge navigation thingies everywhere, so I finally decided to make two seperate sites. One that was just about
His Diminutive Greatness (http://www.intothenight.net)
and another just about me; you know...
"Simply Cosmic" (http://simplycosmic.homestead.com)
I thought it would be a good idea to tie everything into my new, "Simply Cosmic" web site from now on..new e-mail addies using that name, & using Simply Cosmic as my screen name, etc.
So now I'm Simply Cosmic. :)
See?
Bye for now

P.S. I still have months of work ahead remaking my "ME!" site...but it will be extremely great when I'm done. I'm sure you'll agree.

i was trying to come up with a good screename without much luck. i finally decided on female, because then i couldn't be mistaken for a boy (yeah, it's happened. on one board i post at my profile says i'm a male... believe me, i've tried changing it a thousand times but it always reverts back to male.. i think they have a bug in their script or something) ... i don't think i sound boyish, but who knows. i'm not your typical female but that doesn't make me any less curvy ;)

Hi.
Yes, Paul Williams was in the Smokey & The Bandit Movies. He played "Little Enos".
And, yes he wrote The Love Boat Theme.
And many many other songs.
I'm not really a major fan of his music, although I've been surprised to discover that he's actually done some good ones. Many of which some of you have probably never even heard of. Or you've heard them, being sung by the likes of say, Luther Vandross, or Frank Sinatra, and never knew Paul Williams wrote them. Same as I didn't up until as little as a year ago.
Personally, I do not care for his singing voice.
Smokey & The Bandit is an okay movie.
I think Paul Williams could probably do a respectable bit of acting, if anyone ever gave him the right role (say something like Peter Fonda's part in "Ulee's Gold", for example?) but no one's ever seemed to want to take him seriously in that capacity. That's how he ended getting famous though. He went to Hollywood, originally, to get into acting, but he wasn't getting much work, so he fell back on writing music to make money. And the rest was history.
If anyone else ended up standing back, and looking at the man, apart from how corny you may think he and his music are, and apart from him formerly (and internationally STILL) being a celebrity, you might end up being as impressed with him, simply as a person, as I've become. He's had an interesting and productuve life. He's a smart, good, kind, funny, modest, warm. decent generous man. He's quietly, and steadily accomplished a lot of things in his life that most of us can't even dream of accomplishing, and he's still alive & well and working. So he's probably not done yet.
It's okay if youse guys want to tease me about the whole Paul Williams thing. God knows I'm used to it by now. Around here at least chances are the remarks could end up being witty and original.
Uh, and aside from mentioning the fan site I have for him, which anyone can go check out, or not as they see fit, chances are I won't be talking about him unless someone else brings up the subject first.
Then, well....:D
Bye for now.

Hi.
Smokey & The Bandit's the only movie I've got with HDG (His Diminutive Greatness) in it. And, to be honest we only have it because we love Burt Reynolds. S&B is good fun...
Born & raised in NYC, NY, U.S. of A. But I lived in Tennessee for about five years and ended up with some incredible memories, and a love for country music (& biscuits & gravy) (& kudzu) (Not necessarily in that order) (But maybe).
One of my Top Ten all time favorite songs is "Walking In Memphis"
My first web site had a whole page on the song. I had some great graphics, like a wonderful shot of Beale Street in the rain, links to information on Beale Street, the Delta Blues, W.C. Handy, The Hollywood, and Marc Cohn. There was also a link to information about "Finding Graceland, a really nice little movie featuring "Walking In Memphis on the soundtrack. (Also has Harvey Keitel doing an Elvis impersonation, singing "Suspicious Minds) (one of my favorite parts of the movie)
I will be re-doing all that stuff on my "me" site eventually....
If you feel like listening to an amazing song, sung by the man who wrote it, and who (IMHO) does it better than anyone else ever has or will...I have a wav of "Walking In Memphis" on my site at:

Hi.
I'm glad you enjoyed, "Walking In Memphis", RuneT (cool screen name. I use runes for divination sometimes) (I'm not sure what year it came out though. I guess I can find out..'kay?)
I'm INTO that song. I think Marc Cohn kicks A**, singing it. His pacing, or timing, or whatever-you-call-it, in that rendition is as near to perfect (IMHO) as anyone can hope to get this side of The Pearly Gates. He takes his time getting to the good stuff, but he GETS to the good stuff. When it's TIME to get to the good stuff. No rush, starting off all slow & soft, and then he starts building it up, and then...he BRINGS IT HOME!!! (I love that part where it goes... "She said,'Tell me, are you a Christian, child?' and I said 'Ma'am, I am tonight'..." God do understand that answer!)
What else is cool is that I found some of the references obscure (W.C. Handy, The Hollywood, and such) & I couldn't understand what he was saying in one line ("Ten feet off of Beale") and since I wanted a web page that did justice to the song, I started researching on the internet about some of the aforementioned obscurities. Well, one link led to another, and I ended up learning some fascinating (to me anyway) things in the process
BUT WAIT. I DIGRESS!!!
Actually, why I'm posting now is.......
I'm thinking of changing my screen name to GIVEMEATRUCK...because I want someone to. I am very very very POOR. But I want a little pick-up truck anyway. One with automatic transmission, a good engine, and air conditioning, and a heater that works, and good brakes, and tires, and such.
Do you guys (& girls) (&?) think it will work? If I go around saying to everyone I meet, GIVE ME A TRUCK!!! Do you think some one will? :)
Anyways, bye for now.
Diana:)
