so i got bitten on my leg on saturday night, and now it looks like this:

http://img65.exs.cx/img65/379/IMGP0541s.jpg

in the middle is a small spot with tiny little blisters and around it it's all red and the skin is hard.. i mean, wtf do i put on it??

look at the size:

http://img65.exs.cx/img65/4818/IMGP0542s.jpg

i put arnica on it to reduce the swelling and that worked for a day, but it's so bad now.. even arnica doesn't work.. :(

any suggestions?

That's a spider bite, hun.

Frieda

we don't have spiders that bite over here! unless it came in a banana crate or something.. what would you do with a spider bite?

it's not a wasp or a bee sting either.. that really hurts when it's just happened and this only itched at first!

Looks like a spider bite to me, too. Hate to tell you this, but you need to see a doctor.
If it is a skeeter bite, you've had an allergic reaction and should see a doctor for sure!

GO SEE YOUR DOCTOR NOW !!

I thought I had an ant bite last year on my hip....2 days later I had an open wound the size of a half dollar and a drain tube to release the poison.

Seriously, it gets worse by the hour....don't wait (i have a nasty scar to prove it)

Oh, and the the blisters are a dead give away.....

Frieda

Heh. That looks like the start of this:

http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid134/pa33e6b197fc1119bcf3689e6e57aa3e3/f77eb23c.jpg

It started as a blister, got infected and they had to scalpel out a chunk of my elbow to make it go away.

Pretty ain't it?

You're welcome! :D

Mine looked almost like that !!

Frieda
08-09-2004, 04:49 PM
shit nyc! i don't think i want that!!

lvlycwgirl: yeah it feels hot.. hot and itchy!

i just called the doc..
doc says it's unlikely i was bitten or stung by any other insect than a mosquito or a red forest ant as all the other insect bites or stings hurt a lot more.

i can go and pick up antihistamin tablets at the night pharmacy, swab the blisters with alcohol and cool the whole thing.. she said if the antihistamin works i don't have to come by.

if the thing stays the same size i have to show it in the morning, and if i start feeling weird or feverish i should call immediately..

off to the pharmacy then! latersss...

It's not a mosquito bite !! Is it hard around the outside edges?

Remember, mine didn't hurt that bad either. I thought it was an ant.

Let us know!

Frieda!

Can you give us an update?

I agree with you, that it would be really weird to be bitten by a spider in Holland. That just doesn't happen. Ever...

Good luck anyway!

If you have it for a while, can we name it?:p

really frieda..how the heck is that thing today? If it isn't 100% better..get a second opinion on the cause.

Frieda
08-10-2004, 08:13 PM
you want to name my mosquito bite?? how about "stinking****ingitching%$*&sonofabitch"??

it's not a 100% better, but much much better than yesterday. the blisters disappeared, and the big round swollen circle around them is now again soft tissue, with tiny little bleedings right under the skin. it's too dark to take a pic now, but it looks like one of those marks that Gorbachev has on his head.

i did go to the doctor this morning and she said that it all looked as if the antihistamin was working properly. so yay! :)

I went with Willow Sylph a couple of weekends ago to her parents' up past Gorman...
We got there at about 10:30, 11:00pm and went to bed pretty much immediately. As she was setting me up in the guest room, she said, "If you see a scorpion, they're pretty shy, and really quick... so usually it's better to just leave them alone..." I'm thinking, wow. Normal life in Central California... :p

When I turned off the light the room was *pitch black*. For about ten minutes I imagined GIANT BLACK SCORPIONS LURKING! then the comfortable bed won over & I didn't think about scorpions one more time I was there. :D Didn't see one, either...

Zen! Be careful... my brother's big toe met a scorpion in our shag carpeting (70's mind you) and it was the first time I'd seen a grown man (19yrs) cry like a baby. It got huge and red...really nasty.

I'm allergic to the black ones. I was at the deer lease about 5 or 6 years ago when I woke up around 3am. I had these huge knots the size of golfballs all over...inside & out. I looked like some sort of creature that shouldv'e been on Star Trek!!

If you paint the other leg yellow then maybe nobody will notice?

Will you always be sensitive to those creatures or is it curable is some way?
