Awww... they're too little to eat... :p
And you have to mostly keep them separated because they like to fight... Their colors get very bright and beautiful when they do this, but it's very very stressful for them...
Hard to breed them... the fry need a lot of care. I think I'll just get one...

That's because people get addicted to seeing them all fluffed out and brightly colored, so they put them next to each other in separate bowls and they fight all the time, but since they can't get to each other they get all stressed out and then they go all grey and then they DIE.
I wouldn't do that. :(

Betas can live in some pretty lousy fishbowls too. Most times folks don't provide aeration for them, they're like carp and can stand pretty stagnant water.
You could do better though lala....the beta power tank...put one of those lil treasure chests that open and close as the lid fills and empties of bubbles. Stylin' .

My daughters fish died one night and I didn't have the heart to tell her. So I went to the store. The only white one at the store was smaller. I bought it anyway. The next day she was startled and came in to say "Mommy Crystal is smaller today!" I told her that she hadn't been feeding it enough so it was shrinking. She fed them well after that. ;)
melissa
08-25-2004, 09:34 PM
Did you ever tell her the truth?
Coffee
08-25-2004, 09:37 PM
When my fish died I used to tell the surviving fish that the dead fish was just sleeping and that I was taking it away for a trip down a long river.
I had 3 fish that lived for 11 years, actually they are still alive, I got sick of the fish tank maintenance and gave them to friends that just got a new tank and were all excited about having fish.
