As some of you know, I have inherited this wonderful disease. I have to watch my sodium & keep an eye on my blood pressure, among other things. I'm hoping I never need a transplant, but just in case I do, keep your kidneys healthy guys. ;)

We are walking for a cure on September 19. If you would like to sponsor me, I would love you forever. I have sent the link to those whose emails I had; for the rest of you, I am making this thread.

http://walk.pkdcure.org/

I will let you know how much I personally raise, as well as how much the walk raises. Thank you to the anonymous donor who has already sponsored me, and thank you in advance to everyone for your support, monetarily or otherwise.

Next year I am taking over publicity for Milwaukee/Waukesha County.

I love that you signed my scrolling marquee as AMF, that made me laugh out loud, as it does every time I see that you've signed off that way!

Thank you everyone!!!!!!!

edited to say: I forgot to tell you!!! The CEO of the National PKD Foundation is going to be at our walk!!!!!! I get to meet him! :D :D :D :D :D

Not I. I signed it as The Old Bat. That way an Old Bat goes flying by -- it's a Bat-a-Thon. :D

Our Walk here in Milwaukee raised $17,500 to date, with $370 of that raised with your help!!! :D I got to talk to the CEO & found out that clinical trials for a drug to stop the growth of the cysts start next week in Orlando. So I'm looking into that, but even if I can't be a part of it, I still look forward to a cure. :)

Thank you so much to everyone for all your help! *smooches*

Last year's Walk, after all monies were counted, raised about $30K in Milwaukee. Thank you so much for all your help in making that happen.

We are looking to double that in Green Bay this year.

Once again, if you would like to sponsor me, I would love you forever. :)

One thing I found out today about the drug I tested in the clinical trial is that it increases blood flow to the kidneys, hence the increased urine production. So that was cool to learn.

I don't know if the CEO of the PKD Foundation is coming or not, but I've invited Cojo, so who knows what'll happen.

Thank you for your support, guys. *hugs*

Currently, the Walk for PKD has raised $262,000 in online donations!Awesome!!!!!!!!!! :D

I would very much like to donate towards this - the son of my best friend recently donated his kidney to his cousin, so this is timely.

I'm unable to donate online, and the information for mailing in a donation is a bit vague. PFP, as I understand, you've already left for the walk - but when you return, if you can PM me the information about sending my donation to you, I'd appreciate it. I will also get a donation from my friend, and hopefully between us, we can make up the remaining $85 for you to meet your goal of $500 - though I don't know if it "counts" since you won't have it before the walk. :(

Enjoy your walk! And THANK YOU for putting so much of yourself into this - you're setting a beautiful example. :)

I won a prize!!!! :) I was the second runner up individual (as opposed to team) and won a gift certificate to WalMart. I will save them for when I am dead dog broke & need toilet paper or contact solution.

It's going to be in Green Bay again next year. I, um, thought this was the *ahem* Wisconsin chapter of the PKD Foundation, not the Green Bay chapter (last year, we had been told that the walk would be in Madison in 2006), but whatever. After the Walk, we went to Bay Beach (http://www.ci.green-bay.wi.us/geninfo/baybeach_web/baybeachhome.html), Which is next to : http://www.baybeachwildlife.com/

Thanks to everyone for your donations!! I turned in $200 in checks today & I told them I thought I had $380 in donations. They had on their printout that I had $415, so that ruled! I told my grandma I got second place & she says, "I knew I should've sent you another $100!". lol

So all in all, it was a good time, and I just want to say thank you again & Sapphire, I can send you a PM.

On behalf of the volunteers and staff of the PKD Foundation, thank you for making this year’s Walk for PKD a huge success! As of today, 62 Walk for PKD events have already raised over $1.3 Million to fund research to find a treatment or a cure for polycystic kidney disease!

Donations will still be accepted online until October 31.

Again, thank you for helping the PKD Foundation build awareness around PKD by participating in the Walk for PKD! You are giving patients and families hope for a PKD-free future!

Sincerely,

Kim Raymond

National Walk Manager

P.S. If you have cash or checks to turn in, please convert cash to a check, and mail to the PKD Foundation, Walk for PKD, 9221 Ward Parkway, Suite 400, Kansas City, MO 64114. Please include a note stating your name and the event you participated in!

It's that time of year again, kids.

I just want to say thank you to everyone who has donated in the past. It really makes a difference, and helps pay for the clinical trials like the one I am doing. I hope to see a cure in my lifetime.

Please help if you can, by clicking me. Thanks! (http://www.pkdcure.org/)

Done deal! I hope this event raises lots of money and that it brings scientists closer to a cure.

I think your determination and bravery is impressive! Though I don't truly know you, I'm proud of you. I wish you much luck...

Alright ZeMonkeys! The Walk was today, we had some gorgeous weather, a LOT to choose from at the Silent Auction, and 500 bottles of water provided by yours truly. :) (Thanks to a gift certificate from my local Sam's Club)

I just want to thank everyone who sponsored me. For those who haven't, you may still do so until the middle of October, if you wish. Just click the above link from my most recent (ie, 2006) posts.

once again,

THANK YOU!!!!! http://www.sternchat.com/~sterncha/boards/images/smilies/foshizzle.gif
