You'd think I'd be more upset than I am. I'm not upset at all. I even had a fleeting thought last night that I might be laid off today. The people I work with are more upset than I am. I haven't been truly happy with my job for a while, just going through the motions.
The only thing this really has done has kept me from catching up with my friends at work and reading anything on the board. I wanted to talk about Amsterdam, Paris and London not what will I do, or am I okay.
It took me forever to pack up my office. It's truly amazing the stuff you can pack into an office over 5 years. I wasn't sure I was going to fit everything into my VW GTI, but I did. (I love my car.)
I'm still up at the office burning my shit off my computer. I probably have another 20-30 minutes and then I can go home and unpack AGAIN. (I hate unpacking.) I can't put it off really because my severance package is somewhere in those boxes and I don't really remember where.
I think I'm rambling.

ahhhhhhhhh, that Suxors!! I was laid off last year at the end of November, I didn't care either, the severence package was killer and I hated my job. It is always worse at the holidays though. I agree with NYC, get drunk, its about all you can do tonight. Mine was the same, my coworkers were way more upset that I was, but they took me out and got me good and drunk and everything worked out fine.

Sorry it's taken so long to reply. I've had some focusing issues. ;)

I've never been laid off before so I don't know how to judge my severance package. I think the fact I have one at all is good. There is no law stating they have to give me squat.

Vacation was awasome.
My husband and I hit Amsterdam, Paris and London.

I loved Amsterdam. It was by far my favorite place. I like the little streets, the trams, the bikes, I especially liked the "bike highways" the have there. There are special lanes set aside just for bikes! The bikes outnumber the cars. After walking all over Amsterdam we wished we had bikes, but we'd probably just piss people off poking along looking at stuff.
The first day we were there The clouds cleared and we had beautiful bright blue skies and sunshine. It was still cold, but we loved it. We went to the Rijks Museum, walked through Vondel Park, heard Tibtean throat singers (who knew there would be some in A'dam) and to the Anne Frank House. We also visited the Van Gogh Museum, the Red Light District, Dam Square and I'm sure there is something else I'm forgetting.
We took a train to Paris. In Paris we wnet to the Louvre, the Orsay, The Momattan, the Arc de Triumph, shopped, the Effiel Towel, shopped, Napleon's Tomb, Notre Dame, shopped and ate very well. I'm still floored you can drink good wine for $2.00. We had cheese, fresh bread, grapes and wine for many dinners.
We took the Eurostar train to London. We went to the British Museum, the Tate, saw The Mousetrap, went to Harrod's to look at the tile in the Food Court, visited the Royal Observatory and ate surprisingly well. I know there is more we did in London. I'm just forgetting it right now.

Thanks, RuneT.
I put together my resumé today and I sound great! ;) Houston is a really bad place for advertising, but I'm not so sure I want to do that. I need a more creative outlet. I have will find the perfect job for me.

So *that's* why I didn't see you on here for awhile... when you mentioned London on the other thread I thought it was a little business trippydoodle.

Wow. What is it with businesses laying people off right before the holidays? I guess the good thing is that you don't spend all your survival money on gifts... still, ouch. Even if you don't care for your job... it's like when someone breaks up with you - even if you might have wanted out, it's better when *you* get to break up! ;)

Well - glad you're back safe. Hey - more time to stargaze! :)
