Here dear, read this...
Bells (http://www.zefrank.com/bulletin/showthread.php?s=&postid=7293#post7293)
I'm trying to encourage others to add their own memories. I have others to share, but I don't want to hog the floor.
This will be my first Christmas alone too. The tough part is, I have to be smiley and festive, so my students can feel free to ask me all sorts of questions like "What are you doing for Christmas this year?" and "How does your family celebrate Christmas?"
My cheeks are starting to hurt from the coat hanger I have to put into them everyday.
But I try not to get bummed- it's so easy to do. So I buy christmas cards, call the fam, play christmas music, make grog and do all the things that will make my own Christmas special. Instead of pushing it away, accept what it is and make it the best you can make it.
Remember, that's what the good Christmases are for- so we have good memories to help us cope with the ones that are shitty.
Hope this helps. And I hope this doesn't put me in the queue for "Hallmark Card Writer Applicants"

awwww.... I feel for you both. :(
Thats good advice from Amanda though NYC. Just try to look at the positives. Make yourself a nice bit of turkey, and relax with your favourite tipple!
You could try going along to your local church I'm sure you'd be most welcome on Christmas day! And you probably wont be the only stranger....

i'm choosing which brand of vodka to have during the holiday-- absolut or grey goose (it really depends on the bank account b/c there's no contest in quality)
i've got "the dark side of the moon" playing on my comp at work, so that's a bonus
and i've added dv8 to my buddy list on yahoo.... who's next??

A long time ago I worked in social services, holidays were extremely stressful for all the staff because we were surrounded by genuine and deep need, we would try to stay on top of it but it was hard to be all happy with all that misery. One year I was determined not to let it get to me and started a decorating contest, evey one decorated their cubicles with all the holiday stuff they could find. The office looked like it had been attacked by a demented elf but it worked. We had lights every where, a reindeer that played xmas songs whenever anyone got near it and enough tinsel and garland to pollute the planet for generations to come.We voted to determine the winner and the prize was a homemade cookie house. I could tell you all the bad, but they far outweigh the good right now, so I'll let you know the good.
DV8 lives in my town. Wacky, huh? Jesus loves me, I know it. Writing and work are the only things that keep me smiling right now. I just woke up from an hour's nap.

I am sitting in a server room all alone right now and bummed to all hell that I forgot to bring some CD's in to listen to. All I can hear is the drone humm of the servers and the florescent lights just arn't doing it for me today, I am bummed about my PC at home and trying to figure out how I am going to fix it. I just found out that my boyfriend is going to have to serve duty on Christmas so I will be all alone as well, bah humbug
