I had to watch it without sound, trying to keep my germs to one computer. Looked like suicide without the death.

*sharp intake of breath*

I am so afraid of heights, that made me nervous just watching it.

Doesn't it look like they get awfully close to the face of those cliffs?

Definitely cooler with sound... less eerie. What wealthy young men with excess testosterone do in their spare time.

It was def. fun.
-140+ MPH straight down.
-Panaramic views of the rapidly aproaching scenery.
-The thrill of hoping one of two chutes comes out of the backpack, preferably the first one...and preferably without tangling and preventing the other from opening.
-The rush of having cheated death when the chute does open...which makes beer and food taste much better, and colors seem brighter for a day or so.

I'd do it once a year if I could afford it.

I need to try that someday. :)

instead you should suggest she writes the rubbish tiny booklet "base jumping for fun and occasional profit" ($50) in time for the xmas market

Okay. I'm sorry, it was just a friendly observation. I didn't mean to sound complaining. Or money grubbing. I shouldn't be chatting here in the first place unless I'm a man and falling from the sky. I'm sure those guys don't compare flights - they're probably just grateful they're alive.

ps how much do you chrage?

Brynn
11-24-2008, 06:56 AM
You'll have to ask Lukku - she's the expert, and she manages all my flights. But believe me, it's a hugely crass amount, and don't even think about product placement unless you're willing to part with your first born.

This is amazing video, Zero, but can you answer a few questions for me:

1. Do the jumpers have to go back to hunt for their jettisoned skis?
2. Are any of the people shown in this video still living?
3. Where can I find a beginner's trail?

zero
01-15-2009, 02:42 PM
... Do the jumpers have to go back to hunt for their jettisoned skis?

no of course not. we send eager & green-around-the-gills beginners up into the foothills to retrieve ours skis for us. and they have to clean them thoroughly. and then kneeling, the novice/beginners must ritualistically strap them back on ours feet for us as we relax with a couple of beers in menatal preparation to laugh in the face of danger once more.

^^ here's something totally off topic
but it made mo chuckle just now
mo's husband is a former
arborist and he invented a
climbing device that is both
an acender and a decender
coming soon to a store near you.

here's the funny part it:
falls in the category of
"fall protection"
umbrella term

its raining men
but they are not worried
they are fully protected
;) :p :) :D

^at the beginning, the sussuration of the wind with those other self-generated beats made me feel sad for the poor wee balloon, that it was maybe frightened and was forlornly looking for its mother up there in the stratosphericals. but then the sounds became rhythmic and happier-sounding. so i'm glad we were spared the final moments - they would have been too much to take.
