Did anybody see Robert De Niro in the "Christmas With The Cat Lady" skit on tonight's SNL?

He plays an eccentric lady with 80 cats, sitting on her crocheted-afghan-covered couch talking to all of them and telling them a Christmas story.

(There were real live cats all over the place, and none of them seemed particularly uncomfortable at all -- a little annoyed and shy but otherwise fine -- that in itself was pretty remarkable. Our wee maniacs would have been racing around the set and yowling or hiding under the seats.)

My favorite part is the end, where the Cat Lady says to the cats: "Okay, now let's sing a nice Christmas song. Are you ready? 'Take me out to the ballgame...' "

I know he's on, but don't tell me anymore!

It hasn't run yet in Hawaii ... 30 more minutes.

I LOVE Robert DeNiro. Have seen about everything he's ever been in.

I don't even like SNL anymore, but I'm staying up for Bobbie.

Really, it wasn't probably howlingly funny to most people. It's probably just because I adore DeNiro and have a houseful of cats, and because he finished it up with that most holy and traditional of Christmas carols, "Take Me Out To The Ballgame". Brought a tear to me glazies, so it did.

Sparty, I meant that I didn't think the entire episode was funny.

Well, to each his own. I don't think SNL is nearly as good as it was when they had Fallon, Kattan and Morgan.

But I would watch DeNiro reading from the phone book. :)

Imo, SNL hasn't been good for a long time, but then I'm old and spoiled because I remember the original SNL, which ROCKED.

It was good during the eras of Phil Hartman, Dana Carvey, Eddie Murphy, Will Farrell, Cherry Oteri, Mike Myers, Chris Rock, Adam Sandler.

It was so-damn-funny-you-could-pee-your-pants-laughing with Elaine Newman, Gilda Radner, Jane Curtain, John Belushi, Dan Ackroyd, Chevy Chase, Bill Murray.

I think it's the writing though, not the characters or the acting. Like that horrible Downer Debbie skit. Wtf is that??

I agree, RMR. I did like the Prince Christmas Special skit. When DeNiro was on the snowmobile, he looked so awkward and out of place, it made me giggle.
