I'm headed off to Kyoto for a few days.

So, my silence for the next few days DOES NOT mean I'm dying in a ditch somewhere. Nor do the local rivers need to be dredged for my body.

I promise not to go to (m)any love hotels, not to sing any bad karaoke, or eat any poisoned blowfish, if it will help ease your minds.

Be good while I'm gone...

hugs, pats on noggins, random kisses

ps. Ze, I'm putting up my stocking now, near my heater. Just in case you got a little backed up over the Christmas rush...

i'm back from Kyoto. Some of the highlights...

It was the first time I've ridden an elevator naked. Unfortunately I was also lost at the time- so there was the distinct possiblity of doors opening to half a dozen wet naked Japanese men.

Also, it was the first time for me to sit in a water bath with electric currents running through it. I soaked in it for all of three seconds.

Didn't get to the famed Golden Palace, as it was closed for rethatching. But I did do quite a bit of walking, despite the fact I severely injured my foot about 12 hours before leaving. Even though I was limping, it was all well worth it. The streets are mazes of the Japan most people want to come see. However, it does make for an intresting mix of smiling, touristy gaijins and the regular folk who live among the cultural splendors of their nation.

Winter is a tough time to visit Japan- fewer crowds, yes. But it's so hard to see so many beautiful, striped, prunned back trees and not wish I was there during another season to see this lovely city. Or at least some snow to compensate for the cold weather. However, it was great light most of the time for photographs, which I'll only post one or two if people ask.

All in all, good time was had. Japan lived up to her usual splendor.

oh yeah. You don't just drop a naked elevator reference like that without providing details.

amanda

The details aren't half as much fun as leaving you guys in the dark.

So, no. I'm not tellin'.

How about this...why don't you tell me?

Hah! Finally found the Kyoto story...

Amazing. I need to go to Japan someday. Words fail me. (Not like usual, or anything.)

No, no agentsmith...nothing that pedistrian. I have standards.

Well, lapietra...you are welcome to come. Anytime.

That goes for all of you. Just give me a call when you arrive into Tokyo.

How did you injure your foot? Doing something fun, I hope.

amanda
12-30-2002, 10:42 PM
Ah, that's not so good. I went for a run the night before and cut the back of my heel. My running shoes made it even worse- either that, or my stubborness about constantly walking everywhere made it worse...I can't tell.

Either way, I'm sort of laid-up for the next few days.

amanda

The toe spurs or the people who operated on your feet?

Whichever it was, were they tasty?

agentsmith
12-31-2002, 09:31 PM
the doctors... and indeed, they were tasty with a bit of tabasco! ;)
