Maneki Neko- the beckoning cat. Although, I have not seen other animals used in that fashion, I would not be surprised if some company did start some trend.

Also, the "swatiska" is a common symbol here- only it is used to designate temples. Particularly on maps.

The combination IS a bit odd, though...
