As reported yesterday in the Sunday Sun, Homolka will be released on July 4 after serving her 12-year sentence for manslaughter in the deaths of Kristen French and Leslie Mahaffy. Homolka wasn't convicted in the death of her sister, but evidence of her involvement was taken into consideration in sentencing.

The sentence was the result of a controversial plea bargain Homolka made before videotapes of the sex attacks and her involvement in them were disclosed to investigators.

In a second deal, the Crown waived charges on the Jane Doe rape -- a crime Homolka "forgot" to mention during initial plea-bargain discussions.

A variety of court proceedings revealed Homolka lured Jane Doe to the couple's house with an invitation to see her Rottweiler puppy, Buddy.

Jane Doe was given a glass of peach schnapps laced with Halcion sleeping pills. In a copy of the Tammy rape, Bernardo raped and sodomized Jane Doe while she was unconscious as Homolka held Halothane to her nose to keep her that way.

HOMOLKA KEPT GIRL DRUGGED

A videotape of the assault -- since destroyed -- showed Homolka holding the drug-soaked cloth to the unconscious girl's face. According to police transcripts of the tape, Homolka smiles, waves, blows kisses and licks her lips for the videocamera before she sexually assaults the girl and then sits naked on her.

Ya'know I might have been married. I personally imagine how that would have been! Where did all the flowers go, long time passing.

Brynn

I dreamed I was being prepared for marriage to you by clucking, reassuring middle-aged Indian women in saris that I had never seen before. I'd just been rejected by another and I was heart-broken. But there you were, an ordinary looking, slightly pudgy Indian man in his late forties, hanging off to the side, hoping to get a glimpse of me. I'd never seen you before, but your eyes were so large and sad and hopelessly in love, I decided why not, how could anything get any worse. Then you went away to get ready too.
They dressed my hair, painted on my hands and my eyes. I was so sad I wanted to die. I started floating up to the ceiling, looking in every corner for a way to fly out. The women clucked in amazement and said "Look, this one can fly!"
I was huddled in a corner where a big round window was. I could see stars, but I couldn't get to them.
Your mother came in, and I was to pass some sort of test. She was ancient, completely intimidating and dressed like a queen. The last thing I expected her to do was to look up and smile at me, hovering near the ceiling. She was pleased that I could fly, and decided that I would do for her son. I stared down at her, not wanting to come back down. She held up a bejewelled hand for me to grab a hold of. As she pulled me down, she said "Why down you stick around for a while, doll?"
Music started, and the room was full of color and silk and dark faces. But yours shone out. You had become a very young, handsome Indian man. We married, and then I fell in love with you and was glad for you to be my bridegroom. I forgot my heartbreak.

Have any of you listened to the Chronicles of Narnia CDs produced by Focus on the Family? I am so impressed with the excellent quality they are able to produce. I'm especially impressed with the excellent acting. I don't know how they are consistently able to assemble such a professional cast. The actors really make the characters come alive.

note: a friend of mine was reading the draft copy of this book. "can people really see purple cows?" she mischievously asked me. i'd just been on holiday and in reflective moments had watched a tree outside the place i was staying. in the early morning its trunk was pale grey, the leaves silhouetted dark indigo against the blue sky. late afternoon, in catching the edge of the sun, the trunk turned vermilion, the leaves a dark winsor green. at sunset the trunk was sepia while the upper branches became pink and the leaves took on a tinge of deep brown. in winter the leaves will have gone - but the trunk will probably be dark greeny-grey flecked with silver bark. my answer was 'yes'

imagination is the active ingredient of thinking

what

imagination jumps from present facts to future possibilities

is now proved

imagination forms mental pictures of things not present

was once

imagination conceives of situations not yet in existence

only imagined

imagination conjures up correspondences and analogies
