Lapietra/Everyone,
Yes, you can change your avatars HERE (http://zefrank.com/bulletin/member.php?s=&action=editoptions)
Scroll down to the bottom of the page. You'll need to have to have the image on the internet only...and point to it.
I hope this helps.

i keep getting this error while trying to upload the avatar:
The uploaded file is not a valid GIF or JPG file. Please ensure that it is and try again.
the url of the avatar is http://62.163.104.8:8080/uploads/avatar200.jpg

See, the reason I suggested this is that not everyone is good at figuring this out, even when the instructions are provided. It would be great to have more avatars for people to just select.

I'll try to change the permissions so you can upload avatars as well as point to them.

from here (http://www.zeldman.com/icon.html) :)
Spiffy icons. Very retro
I tried uploading a gif and then a jpeg and I just got errors. I'm giving up for now. I don't have the file at home. It's at work on my desktop and I can't do squat about it now. poop.

I'm still getting errors too. Double checked my image size and file size and I'm well within limits.
Ze, any word on when we'll be able to upload?
I want to see if my image will even post browsing.

DarkPadawan/Anyone: You will continue to receive errors until Ze has his new web host change server permissions to allow a component to upload files into a directory by anonymous users (with a filesize limit, of course). Right now, it seems those permissions are not allowed yet. I'm sure Ze's working on it. It depends on the web host. Web hosts have differing policies on this type of thing.
With my web host (http://www.crystaltech.com), I can change all that stuff myself. ;)

Until Ze gets the permissions set, you can put your avatar image somewhere on the internet, then point to it with this message board (editing your user settings).
For example, I know that my avatar is on the internet at http://www.rubydiver.com/images/gas.gif so in my user settings, in the avatars section, I type in that URL and presto! It shows!
Wanna get your avatar on the internet for free with no stupid tricks?
1) Go to Network54.com (http://www.network54.com) and sign up for an account (hint: you don't have to give any private info on the page where they ask your name, age, location, etc. Only your email address needs to be valid and I've never received junk from them).
2) After you successfully create your account, create a "Realm."
3) When you've done that, you can upload files to your realm and they will tell you the URL to that file in your realm. Highlight and Copy that URL path.
4) Come back here and edit your user settings, simply use that same URL to point to your avatar image at your realm.
It works!

my profile saved all wrong.
it made me a year and two weeks younger, but hey!
if you want to send me a birthday pressie, it's actually 15 Dec 68, but hey.
Oh yeah and the clock is wrong by about 5 hours too - it's dark for around 7pm here in Blighty!
I think you have to pretend that NY is actually GMT for it give you the right time. That's how I got it to give it to give me the right time.
See if adding, what 5, 6 hours to your time doesn't help.
