"If you want to know what a man's like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals."

I think it was Lincoln who said that almost anyone can endure poverty and disgrace; but if you want to test a man, give him power. Even the little power of a store clerk, eh?

Point of my story is this..
Had he of been wearing a well dressed suit and properly groomed, and wasnt clearly hammered would of he gotten his sub.. yeah probably. Shit like that pisses me off. What harm is he doing?
Yes he was drunk, and yes he wasnt the best smelling or looking. But what law was he breaking ? He was walking, so not drunk driving. He was (originally) polite, and he was a customer none the less above all else.

His sub was clearly rotten. And it was HIM who got carried away in the back of a cruiser, yelling and screaming while the guy behind the counter shook his head with a smile on his face, and continued serving the next customer - because when the police arrived all they saw was a drunk old man screaming in baggy clothes.

Moral of the story - other than people make me sick -
is dont always believe that just because someone is below you, that they are below you.People make me sick, too.

The main problem I have w/this is--YOU JUST NEVER KNOW. That man might've spent his last $3 on that rotten sandwich. The money could've been his, or it could've even been donated to him by caring souls. Yes, he had been drinking, yes to all the other things too. BUT HE IS STILL A PAYING CUSTOMER. He didn't deserve to be hauled away & he didn't deserve to go hungry. :(

I hope you gave the asshole behind the counter a knuckle sandwich. Or at least rubbed your dink inside his coffee cup when he wasn't looking.

Here in the state, police usually get drinks for free, depending on where they stop. Next time, put a fresh sammich up there next to your drinks, then give it to the old guy right in front of the bastard behind the counter. Because what is he going to do? He gave it to you, it is yours to do with as you wish.

I hope karma works quickly & bites Counter Boy in the ass, or at least makes him go hungry.

I think if you ran for President on the "People make me sick" platform, you'd probably be a contender. I know I'd vote for you.

What goes around definitely comes around, and that is about the only comfort you can derive from a story like this.

But the pretty people definitely get first dibs in this world. I know that if I dress like a suburban matron, I get treated like a "paying customer". But if I appear in my usual beat up sandals, holey jeans and Phoenix Coyotes jersey, which is far more reflective of who I am than the ritzy titzy getup, it's pretty hard to get the level of service and respect I would get while dressed in a sweater, skirt and heels. It really sucks, and it gives me just a small glimpse of what guys like this go through.

They probably would have thrown Van Gogh or Jesus in the back of the cruiser too....

Yup. Call the Karma Police, not the Fashion Police (god I'm so corny I amaze even myself!) True words said in jest though, and all that.
