2. You're swimming in the ocean and you see an island, what do you do?

3. What did you do this weekend?

4. You're faced with a rather difficult situation that you need to deal with; how do you deal with it? Do you A: confront the situation and then move on? B: Hide away and hope it just goes away? Or C: some other way?

5. Are you a "give them the benefit of the doubt" kind of person or "let them prove who they are first" kind of person? Why?

6. If you could be anywhere at this moment, where would you be?

7. Are you ticklish?

8. Invent something new that will be the next "wonder" for society.

9. Make up a word and give it a definition.

10. What's the best thing a significant other has ever given you?

Mornin' all.....

Good afternoon

Thought I'd do some Q's, haven't done them in a while as some of our fellow zemonkeys have been doing a splendid job at such ...

SO here we go:

1. Do you make your bed every day?

Most of the time. I have a "scout" (college cleaning lady) who comes in to do it, but I'm not always up in the morning.

2. You're swimming in the ocean and you see an island, what do you do?

This must be the best (and oddest) question yet...
Not a strong swimmer, so have to head for safety. Then scour the island for the beautiful Woman Friday who will attend to my every need.

3. What did you do this weekend?

Friday night: Went to an exhibition at Modern Art Oxford by Tracey Emin. One of the most powerful, visceral and emotionally involving experiences of any kind I've ever experienced. She has been villified in the British tabloid press as 'more modern art nonsense'. But I am so glad I went to see it: she had been severely sexually abused as a young teenager, and her art in this exhibition self-consciously and deliberately reflects that. Intense, raw imagery expressing a damaged female sexuality and anger. It really upset me, but in a positive, cathartic kind of way.

Saturday: met up with an old friend for lunch, I hadn't seen her for months, so it was good to catch up. Then insisted she go and see the exhibition. Went a second time...

Sunday: woke up and was pleased to look in the mirror and for the first time in ages my eyes aren't bloodshot from a hangover. Nice feeling.

4. You're faced with a rather difficult situation that you need to deal with; how do you deal with it? Do you A: confront the situation and then move on? B: Hide away and hope it just goes away? Or C: some other way?

B, pretty much ever time. Procrastinate now! I'm very bad at confrontation.

5. Are you a "give them the benefit of the doubt" kind of person or "let them prove who they are first" kind of person? Why?

The first, to my detriment. My life would be much smoother if I were slower to trust people.

6. If you could be anywhere at this moment, where would you be?

Right here right now. Life is good.

7. Are you ticklish?

Yes, fairly. Especially just above the hips when grabbed unsuspecting from behind. (That sounds ruder than I meant).

8. Invent something new that will be the next "wonder" for society.

Big hot-air dryers to dry you off after a shower. Saves washing towels...

9. Make up a word and give it a definition.

Antidishestablishmentarianism (n.) a principled refusal to do the washing up when drunk.

10. What's the best thing a significant other has ever given you?

Lurve... (while it lasted)
Materially, a coffee-table picture book about Magritte, my favourite artist at the time.

11. What's the best movie you've seen recently?

Gangs of New York. I liked it even if the critics didn't. Daniel Day-Lewis scared the proverbial out of me.

12. And, of course, what's the last thing that made you smile or laugh?

"Flight from Deathrow", a novel by Harry Hill (for Americans: a talented and off-the-wall stand-up comedian who is akin to Eddie Izzard but has his own style and wit). There is a typo in the title: the D should be an H....

Cheers all!

You're welcome.

i never make my bed

3. What did you do this weekend?
not much, have a terrible cold. went to a friend's birthday on friday night, did nothing on saturday. nothing at all.

4. You're faced with a rather difficult situation that you need to deal with; how do you deal with it? Do you A: confront the situation and then move on? B: Hide away and hope it just goes away? Or C: some other way?

1. Do you make your bed every day?

Dear god no.

2. You're swimming in the ocean and you see an island, what do you do?

Swim for shore, pray for boat drinks.

3. What did you do this weekend?

Saw "Chicago" with a couple of friends. Woked on Photoshoping my boss into odd situations (It's her 40th B-day friday, we're going to torment her)

4. You're faced with a rather difficult situation that you need to deal with; how do you deal with it? Do you A: confront the situation and then move on? B: Hide away and hope it just goes away? Or C: some other way?

A then B then C: Confront the situation, usually saying something to piss people off in the process. Hide away from the people I pissed off until their pissedoffedness subsides. Make enough silly comments until all is forgotten.

5. Are you a "give them the benefit of the doubt" kind of person or "let them prove who they are first" kind of person? Why?

Let them prove. I gave people the benefit of the doubt until too many people did too many stupid things. I enter the new Fox show "Man Vs. Beast" as evidence in my defense.

6. If you could be anywhere at this moment, where would you be?

7 feet to my left.

7. Are you ticklish?

Yes. And it pisses me off.

8. Invent something new that will be the next "wonder" for society.

The non-tangling hanger. Ever go to the laundromat with a pile of tangled hangers that you spent 20 minutes untangling?

9. Make up a word and give it a definition.

From Question 4 (I'm a head of myself) pissedoffedness: (n) the attitude develeoped when one has been pissed off

10. What's the best thing a significant other has ever given you?

Engraved pocket watch (material). Little bite marks (non-material)

11. What's the best movie you've seen recently?

The Salton Sea

12. And, of course, what's the last thing that made you smile or laugh?

My girlfriend's dead on guess as to what my answer to number 5 was.

1. Do you make your bed every day?

Sometimes I'm in a mode when I make the bed every day and pretty much stay on top of the chores. Sometimes I just let it all go. It's been gone awhile now...

2. You're swimming in the ocean and you see an island, what do you do?

That depends on the island, and wether or not I'm wearing 'floaties'...

3. What did you do this weekend?

Worked. Played with photoshop. Made some neat stuff... if only I knew how to post it.

4. You're faced with a rather difficult situation that you need to deal with; how do you deal with it? Do you A: confront the situation and then move on? B: Hide away and hope it just goes away? Or C: some other way?

A. Always A. If you sweep shite under the carpet, eventually you just trip over the lump in the rug.

5. Are you a "give them the benefit of the doubt" kind of person or "let them prove who they are first" kind of person? Why?

Let them prove it. I'm a "doer" and I've learned that most people will feign friendship in order to have me there when they need someone to keep their kids, etc... I am an excellent friend. Just don't take advantage of me.

6. If you could be anywhere at this moment, where would you be?

Horseback riding.

7. Are you ticklish?

Yes, especially in just the place Dickie was referring to.
And I'm like Noxx here, as being ticklish really pisses me off.

8. Invent something new that will be the next "wonder" for society.

No. Every time I do that I see my idea a couple weeks later. One day I'll think of something that society doesn't think of first. Then they'll be sorry! Society can invent their own conveniences. Society can kiss my ass.

9. Make up a word and give it a definition.

Ridiculi (adj.) To be absurd on every level.

10. What's the best thing a significant other has ever given you?

An IGIA hot wax hand spa. This sounds stupid, I guess, but I really really really love that thing.

11. What's the best movie you've seen recently?
Lord of the Rings

12. And, of course, what's the last thing that made you smile or laugh?

A piece of junk mail I recieved. I've taken to putting in funky names when registering for goofy accounts on the net - not to see who gives out my address most because I forget even what names I put in. I guess it's mostly out of boredom and/or to keep the crap from following me if I move.

I got some mail today for Dusty Bottoms or current resident.

1. Do you make your bed every day?
Depends on the season. Winter-no. Spring-yes. Summer-no. Fall-yes.
2. You're swimming in the ocean and you see an island, what do you do?
Depends on the reason I'm swimming, and the island. If I'm swimming in the ocean because my ship has sunk and the island looks inviting, then I'd swim towards it. If I'm swimming in the ocean because I'm SCUBA diving and the island has an active volcano spewing rocks and magma into the sky, then I'd swim away from it.
3. What did you do this weekend?
On friday night I watched Farscape on the Sci-Fi Channel. My Mom called and gave me the rrecipe to egg-drop soup. My Aunt Helen is getting a hysterectomy. I got off the phone and went straight to bed.... funny thing though... I don't have an Aunt Helen....hmmm
4. You're faced with a rather difficult situation that you need to deal with; how do you deal with it? Do you A: confront the situation and then move on? B: Hide away and hope it just goes away? Or C: some other way?
A.
5. Are you a "give them the benefit of the doubt" kind of person or "let them prove who they are first" kind of person? Why?
Give them the benefit of the doubt until there is no doubt to benefit from.
6. If you could be anywhere at this moment, where would you be?
Right here.
7. Are you ticklish?
I was. I don't know. It's been a long time since anyone tickled me.
8. Invent something new that will be the next "wonder" for society.
An application that would let anyone learn anything from anyone on the earth, no matter where they were, using a wireless palm device. he heeeee!
9. Make up a word and give it a definition.
SHLISTS - as in "I've got the SHLISTS" a bacterial infection similar to diarhrea that makes one emit uncontrollable lists of questions
10. What's the best thing a significant other has ever given you?
a blow job
11. What's the best movie you've seen recently?
The Two Towers
12. And, of course, what's the last thing that made you smile or laugh?
smile - the cool 3D thesaurus Amanda found for us.
laugh - a drunken monkey

1. Do you make your bed every day?

I prefer to keep my fort the way it is until someone comes along and attacks it. It's hard rebuilding those every evening.

2. You're swimming in the ocean and you see an island, what do you do?

Try to assess why the hell I'm in this position in the first place. But I'd probably have some SCUBA gear on, so depending on PSI level, I'm going down to play with the fishies.

3. What did you do this weekend?

Cleaned up some messes made during the week. A little imbibing at a birthday party on Saturday- I don't think I stopped laughing once the entire time. Didn't get to the mountains as I hoped, as it was raining. Did some climbing of mental mountains instead.

4. You're faced with a rather difficult situation that you need to deal with; how do you deal with it? Do you A: confront the situation and then move on? B: Hide away and hope it just goes away? Or C: some other way?

I tend do B first, just to assess my options and figure out a strategy- especially if I'm in the wrong. I'll do A when I feel strong enough or when it is required of me.

5. Are you a "give them the benefit of the doubt" kind of person or "let them prove who they are first" kind of person? Why?

I give them the benefit, but doubt is usually on the edges. If they prove to be otherwise, then it depends on how much time, hope and expectation I have invested in them.

6. If you could be anywhere at this moment, where would you be?

Question is already answered. I always choose to be where I am. We all do.

7. Are you ticklish?

I plead the 5th.

8. Invent something new that will be the next "wonder" for society.

Unbiased, complete profiles of candidates and issues that are being voted on right along side voters' ballots.

9. Make up a word and give it a definition.

I tend to make up words as I go along. My last one was niblet- a tasty morsel of food, not necessarily corn.

10. What's the best thing a significant other has ever given you?

Freedom

11. What's the best movie you've seen recently?

Memento- saw it again last night.

12. And, of course, what's the last thing that made you smile or laugh?

Smile- Mon's response to these. And finding that link I posted.
Laugh- friday night/saturday's chat. Saturday's birthday party.

Probably B, I'm a bit pathetic like that!

5. Are you a "give them the benefit of the doubt" kind of person or "let them prove who they are first" kind of person? Why?
The first..... occasionally backfires... argh!

6. If you could be anywhere at this moment, where would you be?
Hmm... it would have to be in Barbados with my blokey.. swimming in the crystal blue sea

Okay, I have to ask...

MoN, what is the correlation between the seasons and the desire to make your bed?

masterofNone
01-20-2003, 10:14 AM
I think it's something like this. In the winter, I get kind of depressed from the lack of sunlight so I just don't have the energy. In the spring, the sun starts staying out longer, I get more energy, I tend to make it. In the summer the weather's so warm I tend to get up and out of the house so I forget. In the fall, it gets cool and the sun starts to diminish so I start making it again.

I think it's something like that. Or it could be a more organic, hybernation kind of thing. It's just a cycle I noticed.

If you want a good selection for #9, read Douglas Adams "The Meaning of Liff"....it takes place names and makes them words e.g

Toronto : a sudden release of a substance, despite all efforts to conatin it. Ketchup onto fried fish, Flour into a light sauce, Sperm into a human being etc....

I'm having tech challenges and unfortunately I haven't had a chance to work on fixing my laptop. I'm doing freelance production work for a drill bit company and they are keeping me very busy.:(

There is a web site called Trek Share where you can post travel pics. Perhaps I should join up?

WiFi! I knew it! If there are cell phone towers everywhere so why couldn't they have wireless internet everywhere too! I'm so spoiled at home. I can go anywhere in my house with my laptop and be on the internet.
How cool to be able to take your laptop on the road with you and surf in transit!
