Setting:a wake after your funeral.

And the "Soundtrack of Your Life" is playing in the background, as people mill about, sipping cocktails, eating good cheese, talking about what a wonderful creature you were, and all that good stuff.

What 10 songs are on Your soundtrack?

don't be discouraged zeismyetc, the problem is that these kind of exercises may seem like a good idea at first, but are actually completely frustrating and ultimately futile.
i could not even begin to narrow down the most important music in my life to just ten songs. there would be hundreds that i'd have to leave out. the choice would change from day to day with my mood and the weather. there would be whole genres that i wouldn't be able to do justice to. how could i choose between bob marley and hank williams, bach and massive attack? also, much of my favourite music is not 'songs' but symphonies, quartets, 'pieces' etc.
i think that is why you got the rather flippant replies that you did. nothing personal against you, i just think most of us are just 'listed out'.
btw, that goes for those 'what kind of vegetable are you?' quizzes too!

I already answered this awhile back - "Complainte pour Ste. Catherine" by Kirsty MacColl would definitely be a request... However - I have to agree with Craig - my list of favorite music encompasses so many different genres and time periods that I couldn't narrow it down to 10. Besides - wakes are for the living - I'd want them to choose music that reminded them of me :) And if they ran into trouble, they could just fire up my computer and set iTunes to "party shuffle"... ;)

In no particular order:

"My Confession" Otep
"10 Miles High" NIN
"Sin" NIN
"Complication" NIN
"In Your Eyes" Peter Gabriel
"The Crow" musical score
"How Soon Is Now?" Love Spit Love (like their cover version better than the original by Morrisey)
"Closer" NIN

I'd better stop now before I include every NIN song. :p

Sometimes as a goal- and expectation-setting exercise, you can ask people to write obituaries for themselves five years in the future, including memorial donations, mourning loved ones, details of passing, etc. A lot of people don't like this, though, and it can be hard to predict who will and who won't.

I've been a puppet, a pauper, a pirate, a poet, a pawn and a king;
I've been up and down, and over and out, and I know one thing:
Each time I find myself flat on my face
I pick myself up and get back in the race!!

Nobody on the road
Nobody on the beach
I feel it in the air
The summer's out of reach
Empty lake, empty streets
The sun goes down alone
I'm drivin' by your house
Though I know you're not at home

But I can see you-
Your brown skin shinin' in the sun
You got your hair combed back and your sunglasses on, baby
And I can tell you my love for you will still be strong
After the boys of summer have gone

I never will forget those nights
I wonder if it was a dream
Remember how you made me crazy?
Remember how I made you scream
Now I don't understand what happened to our love
But babe, I'm gonna get you back
I'm gonna show you what I'm made of

Maybe I started the thread just to see if anyone would list a song from one of MY albums!

You know, I don't get why people post to criticize a thread. If you're tired of listing or you think the post is lame, don't post, right?

I haven't been on here that long, so it would be tough for me to know if there were other threads similar to this, though I did look at all I could find to make sure I wasn't duplicating (Goodness knows I got a load of crap the last time I made THAT mistake.)

Anyway... Happy Halloween! May you get more treats than trix.

Apollo - JOY
Johnny Cash - The Man Comes Around
DePeche Mode - Never Let Me Down Again
NIN - Hurt
Talking Heads - Road to Nowhere
The Beatles - Across the Universe
David Bowie - Heroes
Oingo Boingo - We Close Our Eyes
John Lennon - #9 Dream
The Kinks - Come Dancing
