nothing worse: when someone sends you something that's described as "the funniest thing you'll ever read" and then they stand by your desk while you read it, waiting for you to laugh. and it's just... not... funny.

nothing better: having someone you've lost touch with and really miss suddenly find your email address and send you a "how's life" message out of the blue.

Nothing better: A ball field full of happy kids playing a game of "any sport" with the support of their parents...support with out pressure to win but rather encouragement to have fun.

Nothing worse: wandering around a generic hall full of trial lawyers who have never met each other, drinks in hand, eating bad appetizers out of complete and utter boredom while a very loud 70's cover band plays.

Nothing better: a spontaneous get-together around a patio table with candles, beer, wine, good tunes, playing "two truths and a lie" with fellow actors. This inevitably turns into an evening of non-stop laughing, storytelling and dancing, with drunk friends sleeping over on the couch or in hammock. The next morning, all who are still moving eat breakfast together and go for a hike in the Gorge.

nothing better: closing your eyes and visualizing what it would be like if humans could only learn that violence for any reason, and in any uniform, is not a solution for anything, anytime, anywhere; imagining what global problems could be conquered if only we'd learn to work together
