Frieda

well.. it gives me gas.. i don't like it!
hehehe it gets in my teeth but i like it apart from that. plus you burn off more calories chewing it than it put in you.
man can't live on celery alone.

Just the smell of celery turns my stomach, nevermind eating it.
At Girl Scout Camp, they make you take at least 2 bites of whatever they're serving. I would not eat the celery. I ate everything else they put in front of me that week, but not that. As a result, I didn't get to go on the hike w/the other little girls. I sat on a stump, staring at the celery. I licked the peanut butter out of the middle & threw the stalk into the woods when the meanie counslor wasn't looking.

Sometimes, I dont eat dinner.
That there sentence is something you should never say to a grandparent, btw. Especially not one who grew up in the Great Depression. It worries them.
But if I aint hungry, I aint eating.
Frieda
05-07-2003, 02:28 PM
try saying that to a grandparent that has been through the "hunger winter" in WWII. my grandmother always started about eating flower bulbs.
bealeblues

i don't think we have flower bulb stories here in the states, but our grandparents always tell stories of how they walked to school in the snow, 6 feet deep, uphill, both ways.... and they were glad to do it
I didn't have dinner last night.

As an appetizer:
at least a half a jar of Lebanese turnip pickles.
(If you don't understand, I can't explain. They're just addictive.
Also - it's amazing what you find in the fridge when the food runs out. :p)
Main course:
open-faced hot tomato/cheese sandwich
salad
big glass of milk
Dessert:
one Trader Joe's chocolate calcium chew. Oh yeah. It's a party.
I just had a BIG plate of curly fries for lunch with onion gravy all over them.

my mother was cooking again. i can't believe the stuff she makes.. i hate to say it, but it's terrible. rice with spinach, ham, minced meat and cheese. ugh.
the worst thing is, that she has it ready when i come home from work. i told her i'd cook, but she cooked anyway. oh man.
edited to add: and she puts ONIONS in my food. that's true poison for me, but she does it anyway even though i told her i can't have onions! aaaahhhh!

my mother puts gravy on just about everything, she tries new recipes all the time and makes ingredient substitutions for things she doesn't have so it all comes out the same in the end, overcooked meat of some kind with gravy on it. gak.

Diet Wild Cherry Pepsi. (This only remarked on because I needed to pay tribute somehow to the 20 minutes I spent trying to get the cap off... I'm convinced there was a camera hidden somewhere... I finally poked a hole in it and squirted it out. Hmph.)
It's hot and sunny so it's time for chlodnik!
It's cold soup made of finely chopped, fast cooked beetroots (if it's possible young ones, with green parts) with some sourcream and yoghurt, a lot of finely chopped dill, with small pieces of green cucumber and radish, served ice cold over boiled egg. This is the only foto I could find now:
