heh heh heh....

I could never bring myself to do that, but I do love a crawfish boil. It was the only fun I ever had when I lived in Houston with the first Mr. Sparticle. He was a horrid fellow, but he worked for an oil company that gave huge crawfish boils every year -- I used to horrify them all with the amount I'd put away! LOL!

It was Taco Tuesday. For dessert: A Reese's BIG CUP. Or two.

My boyfriend took me out for dinner. We ordered two meals and shared. He had prime rib, baked sweet potato and a salad. I had crab stuffed shrimp and rice. The rolls were amazing.

It is good when I go out to dinner, he makes me eat a decent meal, I usually don't eat dinner, except for beer and chocolate, and that is not a good meal! Well, I think it is good, but, health experts beg to differ. I took the doggie bag home, I will have to work out extra hard tomorrow!

HA! I finally am eating a decent dinner to post. The excitement is too much...

PIZZA! Delicious warm, fresh, olive and pineapple pizza. Fantastic! And salad with oil and vinegar to go with it. Don't forget the cheese!!!

Which reminds me. I went to Mexico and felt like having "safe" food. So, I visited the local Pizza Hut and ordered a pineapple/olive pizza. Well, instead of black olives they put green ones. It was so amazing. Salty sweet goodness!

Mrs Funky mistakenly got some wheat free radiatore(bleah) a while back that she now refuses to eat. We also had some farfalle (bow ties) that I cooked with them that Little Funky ate. We also cooked some macaroni which she deigned to eat.

All of us had some "homemade spaghetti sauce" which means we didn't have any real spaghetti sauce so we took a can of plain tomato sauce and put ground beef, oregano, garlic, basil, dried onions and other herbs in it to make it taste Italian-y.

Mrs Funky had Thin Mints Girl Scout cookies for dessert, which I can't stand. I'll probably go for another handful of almonds.

YES I HAVE AND I LIKE IT!!! Pepperoni and Pineapple.

side note: people, my first job when I was 15 was at Round Table Pizza. If you insist on ordering pineapple on your pizza, make sure they cook it..no raw stuff..cause the same fingers that get dipped into the pork sausage and handeling your pineapple.

if you want the raw stuff...buy a can of it and put it on yourself :(

Roast beef sandwiches with gravy. Thanks to the influence of this thread, I'm gonna saute some onions and mushrooms for mine. I'll hold off on the pineapple, however.
Also salad with Vidalia Onion Viniagrette dressing, and a glass of red wine. Not sure what kind of wine I'll have. Whichever is next in line on the wine rack.

Easy! (if you have a whisk & a little patience)
1 egg yolk
a glob of Dijon mustard about the size of the egg yolk (or more to taste)
a pinch of salt
a pinch of Cayenne
a pinch of white pepper (but you can use black too - I just like the pristine creamy thing)
A couple of tablespoons of lemon juice
Vegetable oil (about a cup)

Put everything but the lemon juice and oil in a largish bowl with high sides and whisk it together. Add a little oil & whisk that in until it's well incorporated. Add a little more & repeat until you start getting something thick & smooth & creamy. If you add a little too much oil, just grab the bowl & whisk the hell out of it until it's incorporated.
Add the lemon juice & whisk that in. Taste it & add salt if it needs it, maybe more lemon.
Keep adding oil until the mayonnaise reaches the thickness you like.
You can add all kinds of things to this to make it special - roasted garlic, more mustard, balsamic vinegar, pesto... yum. :)

I have a theory now that good Canadians can't explain the definition of Canadian Cheese Soup. Michigan is so boring, that in restaurants they make the menu sound exotic, almost extravigant. "Yes," they say we have "Canadian Cheese Soup." Then us farmers here get all excited and order it. Ohhh we are now cosmopolitan, we have tasted the fruits of Canada.:)

It was very good, cheddar based (wouldn't that make it from Wisconsin?), with bacon (maybe Canadian Bacon?) and veggies.

I made macaroni and cheese.

not the box stuff that Chelsea Clinton likes... this is the stuff where you actually take macaroni noodles and boil them in water, then make bechamel (yer basic white sauce) with onions and throw a bunch of cheese in it and pour it over the macaroni in a baking dish with more cheese on top and bake it until its hot and bubbly.

Little Funky didn't like it. He likes EasyMac.

I'll have to work on that.

As a kid I decided I didn't like Asparagus... for no other reason than not liking it when I was a little girl, I wouldn't even try it as I got older. Finally tried it again just 2 years ago...OMG MMMmmmm! Now I'm making up for lost time :D Here's my fav way to eat it (the whole damn bunch myself):

Baked Asparagus
2 bunches asparagus, washed (lightly peeled only if necessary)
1 to 2 or so Tbsp olive oil
Coarse grained salt and cracked black pepper

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
Place asparagus in a large plastic bag. Drizzle half the olive oil over the asparagus, seal the bag and shake until asparagus is coated evenly with the olive oil. If necessary, add only enough of the remaining olive oil to coat the asparagus. Place the asparagus in a single layer on a cookie sheet, season with salt and pepper. Bake until tender or crunchy depending upon your preference, about 12 to 20 minutes.
