New ¿ question of the day ?

If you wear a scent regularly (aside from your own body odor), please to be describing your thoughts about why you chose it.

If you do not wear anything scented, please to be describing your thoughts about why.

Usually, no scents...because I don't have B.O.

but when I do wear a scent it will be one of the following:

1. Eu(sp?) de Hombre cologne...only cologne I wear cuz i found a small bottle on my boat after I bought it, that needed extracting from a tiny spot between a bulkhead and a cabinet...its a tiny bottle and fits perfect in the glasses holder next to my cup holder in the car...for rare "hmmmm...just how DO i smell?" occasions.

2. A dab or 2 of vanilla

3. A dab of one of 3 awesome essential oil scents from BPAL (http://www.blackphoenixalchemylab.com/welcome.html) left over from when I was dating Catbelly.

I wear a scent I didn't choose but was given as a present. It's called Truth. I like the name, not so much the scent itself. I think it's for an older woman than what I think of myself to be. But I wear it regularly anyway, that is, when I don't forget about it. Which happens sometimes.

Before the gift I didn't wear anything scented simply because after sniffing through a large collection of perfumes at the shop I didn't like any of them and it was embarrassing, plus I was annoyed for having to look so long so I decided to give up. And I did.

Green Tea by Elizabeth Arden. I like fresh smelling scents.

Red Door or Poison for night-time. Because I like heavy scents too. Plus, when Poison first came out, I was at school in Geneva and it reminds me of that.

I'm happy to smell like not-much-particularly. it seems like all perfumes tend to end up smelling the same on me (too sweet, a little cloying, one overriding note) - not sure if my nose just gets used to the smell, or if there's something odd about my skin chemistry.

I use one of those salt-block deodorants. it works well.

the guy who played bagpipes for my burn gave me a vial of lavender oil he'd pressed from lavender he'd grown in his garden - sometimes I put a dab of that somewhere, but the smell degrades very quickly.

I like how my friends smell.

¿what could be a scenario or series of events in which a fly causes an aeroplane to carsh?

Coffee
09-30-2008, 01:56 PM
Actually, it takes two flys to bring down an airplane.

One to fly into each pitot tube (PT= gizmo sticking out into clear air outside the plane that takes in air preasure in order that the airspeed and altimeter instruments can function). Without airspeed and altitude info going to the cenntral air data computers, the pilots and the computers will have no idea how high or fast the plane is going.

WONK.

what could be a scenario or series of events in which a fly causes an aeroplane to carsh

heh
Sounds like a question for MichaelG

trisherina
10-01-2008, 01:41 AM
The fly is really Jeff Goldblum, who wasn't paying attention in ground school because he was dicking around on his Blackberry about his next film deal where he won't have to wear a sweaty and humiliating costume and so never did learn about how to recover from a spiral dive, and so instead of pulling back the power he pushes the throttle full in, and instead of leveling the wings he leaves the ailerons cranked hard right spiraling tighter and tighter, and instead of pulling out of the dive into a gentle climb trading airspeed for altitude, he continues nose down and hell bent for leather straight into a farmer's field. And that's one fee his agent is not going to collect, nosiree.

upon reflection, I realize now that we inherited windchimes with both of the houses we've bought in the past 4 years (and sold one with said windchimes still in original position).

the ones we have here don't make the sound of subtle and pleasing - unless it's blowing like stink - then I guess they make the sound of urgent and scary

My windchimes are a rusted black cylinder with little bats hanging in, and tiny chimey tubes hanging down.

I've always liked windchimes (prefer tone-y to tinkly), but I've loved them ever since my son was bitty, and I happened to be looking at his noob face the very first time he ever heard that sound. His eyes got really big. One of the funniest and most poignant moments of my life.

There is a chinese gri-gri hanging from the ceiling in the money corner of my room. It looks like a horizontal dreamcatcher with little coins hanging off of it. It makes sounds like a wind chime, but I only notice it when I'm sitting very quietly.

I love the sound that it makes. :)

Just took down the wind chimes last weekend and put them in storage; they are too delicate for what's to come. I'm sorry that I can't tell you if I like them or not. They are another thing I tend to. They dangle at one of the entrances to the patio, a few feet across from the foot of my chaise longue (a Mother's Day gift). A couple of times a year I stretch out on it in the shade and fall asleep to their tune.

LAS CRUCES — His start to the 2008 season has raised eyebrows in the New Mexico State Aggies' locker room. For wide receiver Marcus Anderson, however, it's just another day at the office.

"For the people here, my teammates, my coaches, I think they might be surprised," Anderson said. "For the people that know me well, they don't even blink an eye. They're pretty much used to it."

It's wild. Full of wild things that it supports. And it's hard to find your way out of it. Any landscape without civilization will do.

I lost a day as a kid in about Grade 4. There was a lot of stuff going on that could have led me to make that conclusion, but there was something about phoning someone who later denied that I ever called (and the vivid memory of our black wall phone in the entry with the stretched-out cord that hung above a wire and veneer phone desk with a black-and-brown-patterned vinyl chair in a cozy alcove formed by the staircase landing meeting one of the kitchen walls) in the memory of the lost day. I always wondered about that lost day until

As a pre-teen I often had sleep paralysis. I assumed that it meant I was afraid of the dark and began to read horror suspense novels to cure myself of the fear. At some point in my early twenties sleep deprivation fueled the sleep paralysis to the extent that I mentioned it to my boyfriend at the time. After donning a tinfoil hat and reading a library book or two, he suggested that I had been abducted by aliens on my missing day, and that the sleep paralysis episodes were really efforts by the aliens to revisit their territory and see how I was doing. This notion, however skeptically viewed by me personally, destroyed whatever comfort I had around the act of sleeping. The sleep deprivation got worse and I could no longer even nap without "waking" to vaguely threatening hallucinations, howling in my ears, and paralysis. So finally I went to a mediclinic, and the family practitioner told me my boyfriend was stupid and put me on a short course of low dose tricyclic. Actually, he just prescribed the drug and I drew my own conclusions about the boyfriend. My sleep pattern was restored to normal within two months and I have rarely been visited by the aliens since.

In all fairness I should mention that the boyfriend was well endowed and had a nice cleft chin.
