No matter the season or illness, it's always a thunderous explosion that even scares the crap out of my pets and rattles the windows. For my own enjoyment (mostly when alone) I'll blend the word "shit" on the end. I consider it the nasal BIG "O"!!! :D ;)

:D

we're related, Jackie ;)

prior to this I always thought I got my sneezing style from my parents, who are both exploders...my dad's family in particular. I sneeze three times in a row, almost as a rule; he usually sneezed several times (he claimed the average was 12) and said that his mother rarely sneezed fewer than 20 times once she got going. Dad would sneeze and sneeze, and then the last one would fade off into "ahooooOOOOoie!" as if he were some sort of cartoon character. I just end my sneezing sessions with "aaaachfwk!"

it's a pity we humans haven't evolutionarily adaptated ours sneeze to be something more useful, such as our names.

My wife can find me from across a crowded room by the sound of my sniffles. Maybe allergies are an evolutionary adaptation to allow spouses to keep tabs on each other.

I'm told I have a small sneeze that actually sounds like "achoo." Mostly allergy-related.

Sometimes I sneeze and cough at the same time, which is really alarming. Hard to breathe. My dad does it too.

"My abstention from karaoke was well considered: to sing a formerly popular song, written by some formerly popular singer, in a small room full of probably unpopular people, who, after you are done singing at them, will then sing back at you, all accompanied by prerecorded instrumentals? What could better illustrate your failure in life? But I had taken a vow to be nice, and Jennica was adamant that karaoke ennobles the spirit. I made her promise it - I made her promise "karaoke ennobles the spirit" before I would agree to anything."

(sigh)

Seventh grade. His name was David and I knew him since we were both six. He asked me to the first evening school dance we (as a group of schoolmates growing up) had ever had. We slow-danced to "Love Hurts." The custom was to go for pizza after, and we walked as a group. I liked David. It was so nice to be like everyone else who got asked out to the dance and went for pizza, and I wondered if maybe I were normal after all! Then the next day another girl told me David had said I was frigid because I hadn't held his hand as we walked to the pizza place. He joined up with the group that this girl belonged to, and we never spoke more than a few words to each other after that. He died just prior to graduation when a thief at his dad's self-serve gas station stuck a rifle through the little hole in the glass that you pass things through, and shot him.

there were times when i had a definite breakfast tradition: there was the (long-lasting) milk+cereals ritual, the wild coffee+ciggie times, the spartanic apple+glass of milk thing, the croissant meets jam ness and many cafes au lait and blue gauloises orgies, the plain coffee+bread-with-something-on-it times, and very recently the healthy joghurt with honey and some nuts/seeds.... and then there are the totally unforseeable periods of my breakfast life (just living one) where breakfast ranges from nothing or an apple and two brazil nuts on the jump, from something (a sweet piece and some cup o'caffein) i buy at the subway station to instant asian noodle soup, from just a bottle of club mate to be awake and "fluid" ;) to early lunch at the mensa, or, when i get the vitamin yeeper a 1l bottle fruit juice boost....

How WEIRD that this ? should have come up this week. Early this morning at 1:30 am as I was convincing myself to haul my butt to bed, the power went off. I was still on the computer so was was really annoyed that the decision had been made for me by my electric company. Luckily I had a flashlight right next my desk so I didn't have to bounce off the walls looking for the doorways. The power returned at 4:30 am.

I'll watch most everything but the curling. Because I'm old and I remember how disgraced everyone felt about Munich.

And Portland practically is Canada -- felt very home-like when I was there, even down to taking buses. A lot like similar-sized cities in British Columbia. Which makes sense I suppose.

I liked the Shane Koyczan bit at the opening ceremonies, but the death of an athlete at the games always makes whatever follows a bit of an asterisk.

Should we move?

I take it you're talking moving house, not getting out of bed...

There's very little that's good about moving, so only if you stand to benefit hugely. HUGELY!

No. It won't get any better at a new place either, I suspect. Well, maybe initially.

"The Frog King or Iron Heinrich (German: Der Froschkönig oder der eiserne Heinrich), also known as The Frog Prince, is a fairy tale, best known through the Brothers Grimm's written version; traditionally it is the first story in their collection. In the tale, a spoiled princess reluctantly befriends a frog (possibly meeting him after dropping a gold ball into his pond), who magically transforms into a handsome prince. Although in modern versions the transformation is invariably triggered by the princess kissing the frog, in the original Grimm version of the story, the frog's spell was broken when the princess threw it against a wall in disgust.[1] In other early versions it was sufficient for the frog to spend the night on the princess's pillow".
