How my girlfriend and I got together...
by, daverbee

OK. In 1997, I used to post a lot at the MST3K Caption This! board on the SciFi Network website. I used the name Steve_Reeves. (Still do at the Inventing Situations site)
One Saturday afternoon, I noticed someone posting using the name EmpressVC. As a joke, I asked her if I had saved her in one of my movies. We got to joking about that and she eventually asked me if it would be OK if she e-mailed me. I said yes and we began a regular correspondence with each other.
After several month, it became obvious that we enjoyed much of the same things, laughed at the same things, and had many of the same thoughts about the world in general. In one e-mail, she told me how she really felt and I realized that I was falling for her as well.
I don't know if I knew I loved her then or not, but I knew from the start that something special was happening.
She flew over to Florida from San Jose in 1998 and we saw each other for the first time. We had exchanged photos so we both knew what to expect.
She spent two weeks here with me. I went over to San Jose in 1999 to see her and the following year she drove over with all her stuff and has been a full time part of my life ever since.
I don't know if we would have gotten together if we had seen each other first. I know I fell in love with her heart and mind before I saw her and I think she feels the same way.
She's one of the most determined people I've ever met, is honest almost to a fault, and devoted to me as I am to her.
When I had heart problems in December 2000, she spent the week I was in the hospital sleeping in the waiting room of the CVICU. Not even my own family did that!
The years we spent apart before she moved here I think solidified what we have because we learned each other from the inside out. It wasn't fun to be so far apart, but it drew us closer just the same. Alhough it is tough, anyone who does begin an internet romance can get through it. If we did, anyone can!

I loved that show, never bothered to see if there was a message board though.... I have seen a Monty Python fan message board.
Why...I bet there must be Red Dwarf and Little (farking) House on the Prarie message boards somewhere too huh?

Buster is the name of a demonic beagle that we attempted to babysit for one weekend. This dog was purported to be "crate trained". Owners apparently thought that "crate trained" meant that the dog would allow itself to be put bodily into the crate, but afterward would howl incessantly and unceasingly.

I was coming down with pneumonia at the time, and we had to reneg on hosting said canine.

pretty ironic considering the most "terrifying" peeps on our planet are working for the afore mentioned administration...an administration that has proven itself to be more outragous in its fiction writing than any hollywood type is capable of...hell...in hollywood the plot devices they use are often at least plausible in order to make the stories believable.

NEWSFLASH...terrorists bent on destroying the letter and spirit of the US Constitution have infiltrated the highest levels of the US presidential administration. They are using taxpayer's money to spin lies and deceptions designed to further their terrorist aims.

ok...so you already knew that.

Honey, so did I when I went to go to college, and I'd say I'm doing just fine today... you are a bright, articulate lady ... I have a lot of respect for your work ethic. I say you show that stupid school just how dumb they were by being tops at the college you do go to. Dear Maurice the tiny beast,

I am so sorry that you will not have a chance to meet my kitties. I am crying as I write this because I am so sad that they will not have the chance to meet you. Mostly I am crying cuz your mommy, the woman I love, is going to lose you very soon, and I feel her pain as if you were my own kitty. I wish I could give you a huge cat hug right now and a kiss on your milkstache. I am so very glad that I did have a chance to meet you myself. I will remember you fondly.

I like that too. Hard to ask the boss for raises though. But easier to wrangle a weekday off.

In my last "job" I discoverd that when something goes missing, it doesn't get found till you accuse someone of taking it...then it shows up right under your nose shortly after making an ass of yourself...so I still accuse myself or the cats of taking shite when I lose stuff...it helps...try it.

well.. Prom is coming up in May..

I bought a dress.. because I fell in love with it..

there is a picture of it online..

I was wondering if it was okay to wear to prom.. or if it wasn't formal enough...?

keep in mind the dress I bought was pink not red (as shown)

http://www.bcbg.com/sp04/web/index2.html
1. go to spring/summer
2. then go to ready to wear
3. go to the second to last page.. the last page has a girl wearing a white bikini.. the one before has bikinis and three red dresses
4. my dress is the last red one.. the one with the ruffles it's called the ROUGE ACETATE JERSEY AND SILK CHIFFON DRESS

what do you think? it looks kind of ugly on the website but in person it is super cute.

Well, as near as I can tell, here's my plans for my vacation:

On Saturday, I'm going here (http://hikingthecarolinas.com/looking_glass_rock.php) , weather permitting. Weather not permitting, I'll go here (http://www.fortunecity.com/greenfield/beaver/2/id19.htm).
On Sunday, I'm gonna take my sister here (http://www.blueridgeparkway.org/). Specifically the area between Balsam Gap and Mt. Pisgah.
On Monday, I'm meeting my friend Dana and we're going here (http://www.hikingthecarolinas.com/mt__camerrer.php), weather permitting. We've been talking about doing this for a while and it never happened. We figure it's about time.
Weather not permitting, we'll go here (http://www.cherokeemuseum.org/).
Tuesday I'm gonna spend the day watching the carpet installers put new carpet in my Mother's house. I'll also watch the building inspector make sure all the renovations my brother-in-law made aren't gonna burn the place down or flood the bathrooms.
On Wednesday, I'm going here (http://www.biltmore.com/). I love this place! As a carpenter and gardener it's a must see.
On Thursday, I can't find a link to where I'm going. It's near this (http://hikingthecarolinas.com/toppage1.php) but not listed. My friend Rich and I noticed on a previous hike that the trail we'll walk ends where a creek comes off a long drop into a gorge. We're wondering if there's a waterfall to see there. We'll find out! If you're curious, it's called Seniard Ridge Trail in Pisgah National Forest.Maybe you can find something about it.
On Friday, I'll go here (http://www.ils.unc.edu/parkproject/visit/gorg/home.html) since I've never been before.
Saturday I'll come home.
Dunno if I'll have access to the internet while I'm there. I'm taking my Mother's WebTV setup there to get it going as she'll be up there for Spring, Summer, and Fall. If I do, I'll try and find time to send updates on whether I've been eaten by a bear or fallen off a cliff.
In the tradition set by Aphrodite, if anyone would like a postcard, PM or email me your address and I'll send one to you! Might not get them sent off until I get home, but I'll collect some while out and about and post them when I get back.
Have fun, monkeys!

I think a better plan would be for him to throw the acorn squash *first*; then, when the annoyer is properly stunned, Gimli can jump on them.

Are you sure you want him to throw acorn squash though? Those things can be permanently disfiguring if you throw them just right... ;)

What kind of potato? A larger variety, like Russet or Yukon Gold, or some of those little pink baby potatoes? That could be fun... oo oo ooo! You could have him pelt them for awhile with the little pink ones (just to annoy them ;)) then bean them with a big one...

This is a photo of an unfortunate victim of gimli. He has repeatedly pissed off his friends ( seen here helping gimli get a clean shot) and they hired gimli out of desperation. As you can see from the photo, he knows what's coming next.

My dad makes home brew in the closet. I guess you could say he's a "closet" amateur beermaker. (insert your own "bad pun" groan here)
