Did you take a date?
What did you wear?

Did you go at all? :D

I miss that stuff sometimes.

it was okay...

my date was nice.. i didn't really know the people in the group.. except for like 3 people. the restaurant was okay.. the food was premade (......) so I had to eat a salad for dinner...

the dance was fun... nothing really exciting...

there was a lame after party which sucked.. so I left early..

I looked pretty hot though.. I missed my makeup appt. so I had to do it myself.. my hair was ugly.. but oh well:)

it was an okay night..

oh and at my after party.. they had beer.. NON ALCOHOLIC beer.. and when people drank it all i heard was "oh my god!!! it is sooo strong!!!!!!"

i thought i was going to die

Heard a bit of an interview with E.L. Doctorow a little while ago. The interviewer asked him what the E.L. stood for and he said Edgar Lawrence.
He said his father had been a big fan of Edgar Allan Poe and his parents had named him after Poe.
A few years ago he asked his mother if she was aware that they had named him after a drug addicted, alcoholic, paranoid schizophrenic with tendencies towards necrophilia.
She responded, "Edgar, that's not very funny."

Hey, Dav, I know you're a nature buff...I posted that pic once of this shark sculpture, i have hangin up outside, and a Great Crested Flycatcher put a nest in there and had 3 babies, and they just flew away today!! I'd never even seen one, and it took a trip to Barnes and Noble to identify the thing...really pretty bird..grey up top, yellow below, and a poof of feathers on it s head for the crest part....

Lots of new chickn babies here today....Im not lettin Pike the New Cat out just yet.....oooo the cat hair!!!!

daverbee
05-31-2004, 12:17 PM
Never seen any flycatchers, Aud. What a great thing to be able to watch unfold! Did Bink enjoy watching the babies grow up and fly away?
We're getting a lot of Carolina Chickadees, Tufted Titmouse, Yellow Warblers and other little songsters. We have a cardinal pair that always come back and live around here. This may be about the third generation of the same cardinal family for all I know. We've also seen more brown thrashers every year. They must like Florida as a summer stopover. I put a birdbath out last year and I think that along with the suet block and the change to safflower seeds in the big bird feeder I'll be getting birds all summer! Squirrels don't like safflower seed. I'll have to put out some corn for the squirrels...
I'm gonna have to get my bird books out and check out that flycatcher now!

Dav, you've got a great selection of birds! My dad had me in the Audubon Society at a wee age and I've been on bzzillions of birdwalks. It of course, wouldn't occur to me now, but we also have a great selection in the yard...but my favorites are the woodpeckers, we've got a nesting pair of Pileated, god do they squauk, great jungle sounds! There's probably 10 different kinds of woodpeckers, and lots of wrens, warblers, hummingbirds, scissortail flycatchers and my other favorite, the burrowing owls...an Osprey has nest in the lake behind our property, and there's a red-tailed hawk that thinks this chicken farm is his own personal deli...we were lookin at a pair of cardinals today, are they pretty. There's also 10 billion ring neck doves and bluejays. I don't know how i get anything done here.

daverbee
06-01-2004, 10:40 AM
Saw quite a few woodpeckers at the Okefenokee last time I was there. Apparently they consider it their metropolis.
Every once in a while we'll have a few hawk circle overhead. haven't seen any in a while. We get tons of vultures. A few years ago I saw a bald eagle fly over. That had me speechless for a while!
The yellow warblers we get are my favorite. Their song is so sweet and they're really agressive! They pick fights with their reflections in our windows! Drives the cats nuts! :)

Here but now they're gone
Seasons don't fear the reaper
Nor do the wind the sun or the rain (we can be like they are)
Come on baby (don't fear the reaper)
Baby take my hand (don't fear the reaper)
We'll be able to fly (don't fear the reaper)
Baby I'm your man
La-la-la-la-la la-la-la-la-la

Valentine is done
Here but now they're gone
Romeo and Juliet
Are together in eternity (Romeo and Juliet)
40,000 men and women everyday (like Romeo and Juliet)
40,000 men and women everyday (redefine happiness)
Another 40,000 coming everyday (we can be like they are)
Come on baby (don't fear the reaper)
Baby take my hand (don't fear the reaper)
We'll be able to fly (don't fear the reaper)
Baby I'm your man
La-la-la-la-la la-la-la-la-la

Love of two is one
Here but now they're gone
Came the last night of sadness
And it was clear she couldn't go on
Then the door was open and the wind appeared
The candles blew then disappeared
The curtains flew then he appeared (saying don't be afraid)
Come on baby (and she had no fear)
And she ran to him (then they started to fly)
They looked backward and said goodbye (she had become like they are)
She had taken his hand (she had become like they are)
Come on baby (don't fear the reaper)

You put your right hand out give a firm hand-shake

I'm drivin' by your house
Though I know you're not at home

But I can see you-
Your brown skin shinin' in the sun
You got your hair combed back and your sunglasses on, baby
And I can tell you my love for you will still be strong
After the boys of summer have gone

I hate this time of year. Ashes on my deck when I come home, the smell, dried raspy throat.
Weatherman said this morn that the rainy season may have started now, so hopefully we've seen the last of it.
I know it gets worse down there! I've read of places in the Everglades that get so dried out that the heat from tires sets it off!
The odor I hated most down there was when they'd burn the cane fields. I had a few primary care clinics I visited around Lake Okeechobee and the smell of burning sugar cane is awful!

Audreyvgs

Lucky I've not smelled that....I was tellin NYC about a thing that happened last year, a big fire, and for some reason, in an area a little larger than my place, there was a swirl of clean air. Smoke north south east and west, and none here. I could see it across the street, and i had to go somewhere and it was everywhere, thick. Miles of it, thick.

It kinda happened again last night! I was standing in the driveway, watching Nico put plywood on the front of the studio, and there were clouds ominous with heat lightning building, and above us was a perfect circle of clear skies. I'd of preferred it rained, but seeing the front of the studio wasn't on yet, and it was like 11:00 at night, Nico was tired and trying to beat the rain before it came, and it never did...it rained buckets 1 mile away. I couldn't smell the smoke but once, and the fires are less than 4 mi away...(that one time i could smell the smoke is when the ashes attacked)

It's really strange to see the clouds form a circle above your house.
