Hahahahahahaha!

I work with ALL men. I am the token estrogen. So needless to say the past three weeks of me being morose and weepy has made them all tread very lightly around me ... I think I scared them. Hehe. (I'm lucky to still have a job!)

Anyhow, I must be doing well today (doc prescribed meds, it's making me a little euphoric, but oh man what a relief) --- one by one, each of them have come up and asked me something (before they used the 10 foot pole rule) ... the last of them actually said "feeling better today? good, you actually look a lot better."

Sorry, it made me chuckle. I must have been miserable to have around the past three weeks.

Frieda, try feeding her tiny bits of her food at a time. When kids are throwing up, we start with 1 tsp every 10 minutes. If that doesn't stay down we go to 15 minutes.

Try to get some water in to her as well.
Give her a kitty kiss and keep us informed. okay?

wow, that's EXACTLY what the vet said!

she gave me special cat food that's easy to digest and very nutricious, i have to give her one can a day of that stuff, in very small portions. the vet also gave turbo a shot for the dehydration..

2 years ago she had the same symptoms, and then it turned out that her intestines got stuck into each other and she had an operation and everything.. so horrible to see.. :(

have to see how it goes this weekend and i have to come back on monday for a checkup and right away when she gets worse. man, i really hope for the best. poor kitty!

I met my husband at work.

I was the office manager and he was the boss guy's right hand man.

After I had been there about a week, I thought, "Okay. He calls his mother, he has a ton of women friends who call here for him, he has lovely manners, he brought flowers for the outgoing office manager (a matronly little mother hen type), he's a good dresser, he's an architect, he's single, he's witty and warm and charming and he's gorgeous. And I really like him. Rats! Damn! As much as I'd love another friend and confidante, why must every nice man I meet be gay? I WANT A BOYFRIEND! I wanna have SEX, dammit! Aren't there any nice unmarried straight men ANYWHERE EVER ANY MORE?"

I found out in due time that he is most certainly not gay. LOL We still laugh about it.

he could have been using his roommates computer who could have had his name set to appear under author. the stories sound like him, and he's pretty honest although he has this weird, haughty, vague side

What colour is your favourite slurpee moonscape MoN?
I like the blue one, but then your tongue turns blue and it is hard to be taken seriously with a blue tongue.

The same thing happens to the Tim Hortons Iced Cappuccino.
You have to keep stirring it with the straw. Stir, Sip, Stir, Sip.

Well she sneaks around the world from Kiev to Carolina,
She's a sticky-fingered filcher from Berlin down to Belize,
She'll take you for a ride on a slow boat to China,
Tell me where in the world is Carmen Sandiego?

Steal their Seoul in South Korea, make Antarctica cry Uncle,
From the Red Sea to Greenland they'll be singing the blues,
Well they never Arkansas her steal the Mekong from the jungle,
Tell me where in the world is Carmen Sandiego?
_
She go from Nashville to Norway, Bonaire to Zimbabwe,
Chicago to Czechoslovakia and back!

Well she'll ransack Pakistan and run a scam in Scandinavia,
Then she'll stick 'em up Down Under and go pick-pocket Perth,
She put the Miss in misdemeanor when she stole the beans from Lima,
Tell me where in the world is Carmen Sandiego?
Oh tell me where in the world is... Oh tell me where can she be?
_
Ooh, Botswana to Thailand, Milan via Amsterdam,
Mali to Bali, Ohio, Oahu...!

Well she glides around the globe and she'll flimflam every nation,
She's a double-dealing diva with a taste for thievery,
Her itinerary's loaded up with moving violations,
Tell me where in the world is Carmen Sandiego?

She lives in Santa Ynez, California. She's 52, married, with two grown children. We were introduced about three years ago by a mutual friend and have been pretty much inseparable by phone, email, and MSN (I live a long way away, in Alberta) since. When this spring she was complaining a lot about her face swelling and her blood pressure going through the roof, it took my brain almost a month to register moon face as a symptom. Her doctors were very resistive to doing cortisol testing (and one of them was an endocrinologist!!), but they finally did, and yes she had Cushing's, and yes a big tumah, and it was yes malignant in a very nasty fashion with a terrible prognosis. Now that endocrinologist is a little embarrassed. "Rarer than hen's teeth," he told her as an excuse for why he blew it. Adrenal cortical carcinoma occurs in 1:1,500,000. Yay. He's an incompetent weenie.

Our mutual friend, who lives in Minneapolis, is a big Lance Armstrong fan and cooked up an idea surrounding these bracelets. She bought a bunch and to get one (notice following the link above: they are hard to come by these days!), you have to donate to the N Foundation, which is just a slush fund for N to do whatever she wants once chemo is done, like maybe travel. If anyone is interested (hey, these armbands are verra cool!) in getting an armband, p-mail me and I'll be on it.

Magpie
07-25-2004, 03:21 PM
Hey Trish... my nephews all wear them, not because they have cancer but because a couple of them have sickle cell anemia and have many friends who are cancer patients - not to mention the fact that they are huge sports fans and wear other athlete's rubber wrist bands.

Brilliant idea these rubber thingies huh?... and for just a buck, anyone can buy one... they are all over the place here, not just the LiveStrong ones.

Because Lance did the bracelet 'deal' in conjunction w/Nike (sooo smart), most authorized Nike dealers are carrying them here (US) or in my area anyhow... for anyone else who's interested, here's some chain stores that carry them and online infoP:

All Nike Town locations
Lady/Mens/Kids Footlocker
Prime Outlet Stores (+many other outlet malls)
Most Bike/Cyclery Stores

Nike Wear Yellow Info (http://www.nike.com/wearyellow/index_f.html)

WHAT a horrific story of your friends cancer discovery :( How very frightening for all of you. All the best to her... she's got a good friend in you :)

The USPS SUCKS! Grrrrr!!!!!!!!!! They lost my mail. I received a notice (over a week ago) that they "attempted to deliver" so I went in the next day to pick it up, and they don't have it. Wha? So I go back everyday FOR A WEEK and they "are still keeping an eye out for it. We will call you if we find it." I am slightly ruffed at this point and say "so you are telling me you lost it." And they say, "we just don't know where it is", I repeat "so you lost it, I has been over a week and you still don't know where it is YOU LOST IT" I am no longer nice at this point. "It may have been returned to the sender" "HOW CAN IT BE RETURNED IF YOU NEVER FOUND IT, I CAME IN EVERYDAY LOOKING FOR IT"

A couple of years ago when me dear ole Ma went up to WNC for the summer, she had all her mail forwarded to her PO Box number up there. The USPS, in all their infinite wisdom, sent all mail up there so she was getting mine in addition to hers.
I went in to explain the situation. The USPS, in all their infinte wisdom, began sending back all our mail stamping it Return To Sender, Addressee No Longer At This Address!
It might cost us more, but maybe privatizing would be a good idea for the Postal Service...it'd keep customers from going (ahem) postal.
