I have the best durn mango trees on the planet....we have this late bloomer that we had to pull em all off (4) because we didn't want the hurricane blowin em into the next county....oh god I love mangoes. When I run out, I steal em off the neighbors trees. ha

It's going great, except I have a headache today from visiting a printer. I hate the way those places smell. It blows my mind that everyone there is used to it.
We just got a bunch of mangoes in the office! They aren't ripe though. I'm not sure how long we have to wait for them to ripen.
Houston is back to its regular steamy August weather. October will be here soon enough and it will begin to cool off a little.
I was terribly disgusted at the maternity clothes I have to choose from. My boobs are so big I have to wear a 3X (!) in maternity wear. Do you know what you get in 3X? A freakin' mu mu. Ugh! It's horrible. I guess I shouldn't complain about 'em now. I understand when the baby is done with them they will be a shadow of their formaer selves.

Audreyvgs

Shiit. Iforgot to look at your boobs so I'd have something to compare them to.
I know I know, taxes...its usually NYC askin me what I'm avoiding...

A few days to a week on the mangoes, they go yellow and red and / or just squooshy.

I don't know why they can't make cat food or baby food that washes out.

I'm doing laundry and now own a dish towel that says, "what part of woof don't you understand?" WTF?

Ok, back tothe books.

ps. stay away from the xylene for now, huh? make somebody else go to the printer.

Mini Rant:

So, since I never have a damn thing to do in my dept, all the other departments think I am their secretary bitch and give me all their forms, and procedures, and SHIT to type up. I hate typing. So what they do is come over and bring me a print out of stuff THEY ALREADY TYPED, that they want me to retype it and put in a nicer format....um, yeah, not joking. So, I ask them if they can put it on disk for me SO I DON'T HAVE TO RETYPE IT! They don't understand, they cannot comprehend it. They just rephrase the question like I'm an idiot. So I ask then to E-mail it to me....they don't understand, they "Just want me to retype it". At this point, I'm not sure if they want me to retype it just to keep me busy or if in fact they are morons. So, being the laziest person ever and really not wanting to retype something they already tyed, I have to go over to their computer, e-mail it to myself, and then come back to my office and go at it. THEN, I e-mail it back to them so they have a copy. They come to me a week later and want to know why I haven't given it to them because all they got was an e-mail copy. OMG!!!!!! EVERYDAY...this is what i go through, EVERYDAY.....THEN, they give me the "I want you to do it because I know you are so good with all this computer stuff and you can make it real nice and pretty." I don't know shit about computers. I know how to guess and copy & paste.

Sorry to be a bvtch people, but the proof is in the pudding. If this guy is for real, I will gladly eat crow. I won't like him any better than I do now, but I can admit when I am wrong. That is really amazing. I wonder how they managed to write these papers on their computer in the first place? Perhaps they all have detailed diagrams of how to open up the word processing app and save a document to the hard drive? Maybe they just need more diagrams explaining how to open a document and add and delete text from it. Weirdorama, katzenjama.

Give your doctor a call and see what they say. Tell them about your recent return from a vacation in case you did pick up a bug out there.

In the meantime, honey and lemon in some nice mint tea. Prop yourself up when you are laying down, and a tylenol or advil can't hurt.

Spicy Jack
08-20-2004, 08:04 PM
yeah...:( landlord said "No, we have to stick to the contract because we have been burned to many times before."

I offered to give an ADDITIONAL deposit on top of the already full last months rent, and guarantee that the apartment wouldn't have any damages. I went into detail about the care, maintenance, and demeanor of the bunnies so they know what to expect, plus I gave them references of their vet, previous landlord, and the ex who was taking care of them. The bunnies are house trained, they don’t make any noise, they don’t smell, they don’t dig. I trained them well. People don't trust anymore.

A few assholes ruin it for the few decent people left in this world. I am a decent, fair-minded, respectful individual that was brought up properly. I’m not gonna **** someone over on their own property. I freakin live behind them for that matter. They know everything I do. This is beyond ridiculous. I even gave them a copy of a letter from my last landlord stating the apartment was in perfect condition and I received my full deposit back. How can you say no to that?!?! This sucks. I hate people.

well, cuz for almost a year they have had the run of a whole house. even when we were gone they had their own room (which is almost bigger than my apt now  ). They behave really well and only do their buisness in their litter box. so i never had anyproblem with them...except when they would hop onto the back of the couch when i was watching tv and scare the bejesus out of me hee hee...they wouldn't last in a cage for 2 seconds. they would tear the house up just to get back at me...sidetrack: when i moved out, they missed me so much that they tore a part their room and pissed everywhere. they wouldn't let J get anywhere near them. HAHAHA...I was so proud of them.

Well, good night, and it has been an interesting one.

My boyfriend received a call last night around 2:30 a.m. that his grandmother died. He did visit her this week, she was under hospice care. She was 97, but he was still pretty upset about it, because she is the one that raised him. His mother got pregnant at the age of 19, by a married man, that would have nothing to do with her. She met someone else later, that she married and had additional children with. Well, this man, never really accepted my boyfriend as his son. And my boyfriend thought this man was his dad. He said that he never really felt like he fit in, and he wasn't allowed to go on family vacations, so he would stay with his grandma and grandpa, and then ended up living with them, because his "dad" was so cruel to him. At the age of 21, when he got out of the service, his mother handed him his father's obituary notice, and told him his real dad had died.

When he received the news of his grandmother's death last night, he cried, and I stayed up with him until 3:30 this morning just listening to him.

Tonight, he came over, and I had dinner made, pampered him, and tucked him in so he can sleep. He is hurting.

Awww very cute Spice...and photogenic too :) I hate to even mention this but... *if* it comes to the point where you have no choice but to find them a good home :( :( :( there are no kill bunny-rescue places that'll adopt them out. I actually found a Guinea Pig Rescue (shut up Dinz) place here and they had lots O' bunnies too. The shelters get too many :(

Those lil' fluffies would last about 45 secs tops loose in my house; dogs would be flippin' them around the room like frisbies (hence the G-Pig giveaway) Does your landlord actually come *IN* your home?

Well, I know he has been a pain in the butt lately but it's really nice to see that you can brush all of that aside right now. Having such losses in life tend to show raw emotion and bring you closer to the true person they are.

I think Magpie has some good suggestions. I would just like to add a bit of my thoughts to them. We pay $25 extra every month to have our cat in our apartment, money is always a nice incentive. I realize you offered him an additional deposit but that just goes back to you in the end should everything be spic and span when your lease is up. With the sound of things I think your landlord knows he would be giving it all back. However that extra $$ may change his mind. Personally I can't stand that we have to pay $25 dollars extra every month. We work through a realtor. My husband is totally a boy scout, straight arrow kind of guy. When we find the apartment through the agency he insisted that we tell them we have a cat. Now we're stuck paying $25 extra every month to them when they would have never known that we had her but such is life. In your situation though offering that extra incentive may do the trick. When it boils down to it I would pay more if they asked and checked to see if she was here. My kitty is my little girl. I paid for her international certificate of health for her to move here with me. Anyways. . . good luck with it. I hope that your landlord's heart will soften and I hope you can come to a happy resolution.

Frieda- I got my wisdom teeth removed two years ago I think.. I think the pain varies from person to person... most people have pain for a few weeks. I had A LOT of facial bruising that lasted for a few months (my doctor had to remove part of my jaw bone). I hope you feel better!

The best part about getting the wisdom teeth removed was the vicodin.. :::sigh::: it was soo beautiful.. if only I could get my hands on more.. :)

Surhbi's right. I had all four removed. They were impacted too. Not a bruise on my face and no pain. I had tyenol 3s and I think I used two of them. In four days I was able to eat regular food -- you just have to be careful not to get any in the wound and keep it clean.

I only have two off them on one side of my mouth. They haven't threatened anything yet. Dentist said it was the wierdest thing he had ever seen..

i had mine (only one) cut and drilled and hacked into pieces, it took ages before they had it out. i guess i just had back luck to feel the entire procedure because for some weird reason the sedation didn't work properly.. i don't really understand why that is. i got ibuprofen 600mg to take 3 times a day and the first day it didn't work at all, man that hurt!

the pain is still pretty severe when the meds stop working overnight. i've been waking up with a bit of a fever, not too high though, i'll see how it goes in the morning! today's day 3 so from now on it's supposed to improve a bit, i hope so!

yes but if i use those my body will get used to them and stop working if my back is acting up again.

i heard ibuprofen is the heaviest stuff they give you with a procedure like this, it's supposed to work, but for some weird reason it didn't, i mean, the lidocain to sedate my mouth during the procedure didn't work either. maybe i was too stressed, too much adrenalin or something!

i'm sorry clytie! :( don't worry too much, but go now before you're too old and your body will start to heal slower! they say the turning point is at the age of 25. and yeah, it's not nice, but i'm always having bad luck so it'll probably go better with you! :)

Magpie
08-22-2004, 06:30 AM
Frieda, taking the 'stronger stuff' now and then you will not develop a tollerance for later when you need them for your back. No need to suffer if you've got something stronger there that might give you some relief.

Here in the states, it's pretty common to be given at least a small prescription of Vicodin (Hydrocodone 5mg) or Tylenol 3's for that type of dental work; although ibruphropen is really good for nerve (dental) pain and inflamation.

Hang in there... it's bound to get better soon. The body heals amazingly fast :)

Frieda
08-22-2004, 07:00 AM
not fast enough if you ask me.. :p

here you must be at least a cancer patient with 3 months left to live to get an opiate. they're very careful with that, i had to sign all kinds of papers to even get the stuff i sometimes use for my back!

but the whole medical system here is different, you guys can buy antibiotics over the counter, here it kind of stops at aspirin and paracetamol, simple throat ache stuff and things like that. i was amazed when i saw all the racks of meds in the supermarket when i was in orlando!

but anyway, the ibuprofen is working now and only the mornings are pretty bad.. hey, i've survived the farking surgery itself without proper sedation, i'll live! ;)

Magpie

Controls on narcotics are pretty tight here right now due to the overwhelming mis-use and street sales, etc. The sad thing about it is that the illegal users have really screwed things up for people that live w/chronic pain - Doctors are so paranoid about it that people are frequently undermedicated here. But it sounds like we're definately more lenient that over there. We can't get over-the counter antibiotics here (Canada?) but you're right, the rows of prescription-free meds here is crazy.

I see a pain management specialist for my issues, had to sign mega-contracts with her as well.

I'm curious, do you need a prescription for ibuphrophen there?

Sorry for the lateness of this retrospective on the last few weeks on the zeboard. Got beaucoup busy Friday night and spent all day yesterday in Gainesville at an exhibit of original prints done by Ansel Adams.

So...what's been going on here? I'm glad you asked:

Clytie decided she could run the hospital better than the administration could and barricaded herself in the Medical Director's office. Unfortunately, it was determined that having all the patients do *cartwheels* for therapy wasn't really that beneficial and she was persuaded to relinquish control of the hospital with promises of bunny tea.

Aud, Bink, and Nico were able to survive Hurricane Charley thanks to the courage of their chickens who bravely kept the North wall of their house from caving in by supporting it during the height of the storm with their little, feathery bodies. The chickens got no help at all from the horse and mule who spent the entire storm in the back of the property knocking dowm foreign trees.

Bink got demoted from First Grade to Kindergarten without even stepping in the classroom. This was done when all the little girls in kindergarten took one look at the handsomest kid in school and bribed their teacher into nudging him in the wrong direction. Where they got ten million dollars is still being investigated. (Part of this is true)

Vickie and I survived Hurricane Charley thanks to said hurricane suddenly deciding to visit moN instead. My cat was thoroughly disappointed by this since I moved all the cool plants out of the living room after the storm passed. moN was thrilled as he had the golden opportunity of getting inebriated with strange, beautiful women...ummmmmm...beautiful, strange women?...strangely beautiful women?...beautifully strange women?...womanly beautiful strangers?...ooh-ooh, I know!...beautiful women strangers!...he didn't know 'em...get it?

Surbhi had a wonderful vacation in England. She even had an audition for the sequel to Bend It Like Beckham. Or at least she thought. Turns out it was actually the sequel to 28 Days Later. It's called 11 Days After That. She turned it down.

Beale tried to convince the US Supreme Court that there was a Clear and Present Danger in our country named Dinz and that this "Dinz" should be dealt with in the harshest manner possible. The US Supreme Court agreed and dealt with said character by appointing Justice Clarence Thomas to go down to Houstom and take a dump in Dinz's girlfriend's garbage can. How this solved the problem is anybody's guess Oddly enough, the US Supreme Court got a letter a week later from a retired gardener in England which said, "Thank you."
The Environmental Protection Agency has been called in to find out how it is that Dinz has a girlfriend. Rumor has it he found her in a Toxic Waste Dump living on radioactive earthworms.

We had a character named malarkey show up who sucessfully annoyed everyone he came in contact with. The Republican Party came over recently and persuaded him he was of more use in the Oval Office.

..and that's all the news I can think of at the moment...

Since everyone else got their 2 cents worth in Frieda's thread:

I think parents have every right to know EVERYTHING that is going on in their childs life until age 18 (or 16 I guess in Europe). There is no such thing as PRIVACY when as a parent you are legally responsible for every action of your child. On the other hand, if they are legal adults, you just better pray and hope you raised them well enough to make good decisions on their own.

I had all four wisdom teeth taken out at once. I was 23 and still under my parents insurance and about ready to be removed from it because I was about to graduate from college. I said screw it, take them all out. Two were impacted, and two were partially impacted, whatever that means. I was on pain killers for three weeks, and could not work for two weeks. My husband went on to have all 4 of his pulled at the age of 40. If HE can do it, anyone can do it, trust me. He has a phobia about needles and drs.

After she was weaned, I have a feeling she was living on bugs for a while as I hardly ever see a cockroach in my house. I periodically find roach legs here and there which makes me think she's either collecting trophies or leaving me reminders of the fact that she's keeping the house secure.
Of course, it may also be a form of totem to scare off the other cockroaches!

You're not a sap! I've never seen a wild owl before.

When I was in Cornwall I was sat on the sofa and some kind of bird of prey landed on a wall just outside the window, I'm not sure what it was. It was big and eagle-like! I got a good look at it before it flew off.

My friend wanted to take a pic but couldn't find her camera in time!

One of the most beautiful things I've seen in all my trips to the Smokies was a mating pair of hawk following thermals near Devil's Courthouse.
It was near dusk and I had no film left so I just watched. They circled around each other, rose up in the air, dropped down almost to the treetops, circled again and then did the whole thing over again. It felt like they were dancing! I still get a lump in my throat when I think about it.
In one way I was sorry I didn't have film to record that (Before digital) but then I figured it was meant for me to see only...
