I got a letter yesterday from the coffee company that I used to work for (1996-2000) letting me know that there is still money in my 401(k) and they wanted to know what they should do with it. I thought I had cashed that out ages ago when I was strapped for money (that one time...:p ), but I guess not. So, I speak with the guy today on the phone to find out how much money has been sitting around with my name on it and if it would be worth it for me to even get it..."yes, please send me the remaining 1.93 in my 401(k)" since they have to deduct 20% before they give it to me. But apparently there is around $160.00!! Definitely worth claiming!!
WooHoo! This has never happened to me before! I'll probably buy new shoes.
Or food.

I never get a flu shot because I have a really good constitution, but I am worried about getting it this year beacuse all the people that regularly get a shot won't be getting one this year. Because I am pregnant I can and will be getting a flu shot this year. Don't want to get a fever and cook the baby.

I've always been healthy, too, but for some reason, the flu gets me every time it comes around when I don't get a shot.
Dunno what I'll do this year. Maybe wear a respirator all winter...

8 yr old T'aniya: "Mom, what's virginity?"
Mom explains, "virgin, virginity, loosing virginity, etc."
T'aniya: "Sooo... the Virgin Mary isn't a virgin?" (no mainstream religious upbringing to draw from)
Mom (head beginning to feel full) explains: Cliff Notes Virgin Mary-Immaculate Conception-Baby Jesus story
T'aniya: "Sooo they thought it was magic?"
Mom: "Make that w/3 olives please."
Conversation continues to naturally include: birth controll, how 2 people don't even have to know/like each other to create a baby, inutero development, when you were inside me, baby's first breath of air when they're born, etc.
Mom's feelin' pretty good that she and daughter have shared this special talk and been able to cover so many important subjects. Got everything wrapped up nice and tight.
T'aniya: "Mom? Soooo what would have happened if the Virgin Mary hadn't wanted that magic baby put in her and she killed it before he could be born?"
Mom's head explodes.
Sheesh!

One of my friends is a real estate agent. Another friend is looking for a building to open a "piano bar". I set them up and 're agent' has been spending a lot of time looking for a building for 'piano man's bar.
Perfect building prospect found by 'piano man's' bf's client (evil agent).
'piano man' has decided to go with the 'evil agent'
I feel bad for 'agent' for spening all of this time working for 'piano man' without getting paid. But I really want it to work out for 'piano man', and it was strictly a business decision.
Don't want to take sides but 'piano man' is going ask me about it tonight.
How should I handle?

A chemical in your workplace could be responsible. Or have you come into contact with something - some people are very sensitive to certain plants and flowers. Nickel in spectacle frames can cause redness around the eyes and ears.

hi melissa's IT guys! :)
there is no reality except the one contained within us. that is why so many people live such an unreal life. they take the images outside them for reality and never let the world within assert itself. you can be happy that way. but once you know the other interpretation you no longer have the choice of following the crowd
mental monism is not solipsist
"but", the long-suffering reader asks, "why do you bother trying to tell anyone about mental monism? according to your theory, nobody else exists except you. in effect, you're just talking to yourself." not so. the theory says only that other people's bodies do not exist. it says nothing about their minds. as far as the theory goes, other people's minds may or may not exist. personally, i believe that they do exist: i should be surprised if the common-sense view that every human has a (real) mind were mistaken. but the reader insists: "hypocrisy! you said that don't believe in the material world because your contact with it is mediated by your senses, which you don't trust for some reason. but your contact with other minds is at one further remove. you cannot see or touch another person's mind, can you? you can merely infer the existence of other minds from people's overt behaviour. therefore, you should be even more sceptical of other minds than you are of the physical world." alas, the gentle reader has missed one crucial point. although i myself have no direct contact with other minds, those minds themselves do, if they exist. For instance, you know that your own mind exists, because you have direct and indubitable experience of its contents. each mind that exists can have an awareness of its own existence. therefore such minds cannot be fictions. this is in marked contrast to the physical world, for nobody can ever have direct experience of it.solipsism, which is the theory that only i exist (or, from your point of view, that only you exist) may or may not be true. but it gains no support from mental monism.
