Okay, I am going to vent about my roommate for a minute. Don't feel obligated to read this, but I need to let off some steam.

So through the miracle of scheduling, she managed to be finished with finals a full week before me. Her last final was last Friday morning; mine isn't until this Thursday evening. Her out-of-town boyfriend (still an undergrad) is also finished with finals.

Law school finals are not easy. I need time to study. In peace.

Almost every weekend she goes to see him and I get the house to myself. But this weekend, for some reason known only to her and Satan himself, she invites him to come up HERE. To her credit, she asks me if it will be okay if he could stay last Friday night (I had a final at 9am on Saturday morning). I say, "Not really. I have to get up early and take the final." So she promises that they will stay out of the house (watching a movie or something) and then come home and go right to bed. So against my better judgment, I acquiesce.

Friday morning he's here bright and early (I had expected him to arrive in the evening), hanging around the house all day, filling up the house with his fried food smells, leaving his funky cowboy boots in the living room, turning up music, and being a general nuisance and distraction while I'm trying to study for my Saturday final. Finally they leave to go have dinner with friends.

I'm in bed at midnight when the come in - and they've brought the friends BACK WITH THEM. They proceed to sit in the living room and drink for an hour, and then retreat to have loud sex, then take showers, then raid the fridge - they were up until a God-awful hour, and I heard it ALL.

I get up Saturday in terrible mood and take my final. I return home four hours later to find him still here. And he spends the night Saturday night. And Sunday night. Finally yesterday I asked her when he was planning on leaving. (Silly me, I thought when she asked if he could stay Friday night, that meant Friday night.) Finally he left last night, late.

WHY IN THE HELL SHE COULDN'T GO VISIT HIM, WHEN THEY HAD NOTHING ELSE TO DO, I CANNOT UNDERSTAND. THEY LAID AROUND BEING OBNOXIOUS AND HAVING LOUD SEX ALL FREAKING WEEKEND.

So today I go to take another final - this time a 5-hour one. I come home exhausted only to find that she has taken all my laundry, still damp, out of the washer and dryer (which are mine) and piled it all on the floor of my room. Additionally, she has taken about $1,000 worth of photographs from my portfolio that were sitting on a bookshelf in a plastic bag and thrown them on my bed (apparently they were an eyesore to her). Also, a big box of tiles with Polaroid emulsion transfers on them, which were stored neatly under the bookshelf (out of sight!) are now on my bed, too.

And the coup de gras, she has hung photographs of her and her fiance ALL OVER THE WALLS OF THE LIVING AND DINING ROOMS. From where I'm sitting I can count eleven of them. And there are more. I'm sorry, but these are common areas and I don't want to look at them making out while I'm eating.

For the rest of my life, I vow to never have a roommate again.

Gatsby, Oh man! I feel for you! I've had sooo many roommates in my college years. We were dropped with random people. I lived in about 5 different apartments with over 35 different roommates because of semester changes at 5 roommates per semester. I thought I would kill the majority of them. I ended up becoming an RA my last year.

Hopefully you can get through the next few days with a little peace and make it through the next semester. Maybe the opportunity to talk to her about some things without hard feelings arising will come around.

There is hope. I'm IM'ing right now with my roommie from college 6 years ago. She and I are still great friends. :)

Good luck!

There is a saying "Don't judge a book by the cover".

Let me tell you, that is the perfect way to judge a book's contents, and in addition, if you fail to check the cover of a book, you will be asked to produce your Safety Manual at a meeting and yet will provide the auditor with a copy of Reader's Wives Bums Special.

Well, being that zombies have a mind of their own (that's probably an oxymoron), their test subject escapes, causing a commotion among the scientists. One of them starts to run with the toxic drink, running all the way to the highway, where – you guessed it – Woody and Bee accidentally run him over while driving Brother Kui's car. The two stop, step out of the car, and attempt to resuscitate the victim. "Maybe he needs a drink…" How convenient, he's brought his own soda! They proceed to force the liquid into the victim’s mouth. When he still doesn't come to, they decide he's dead, and stuff him in the trunk.

the people who make dance revolution have a new game for the home, karoke revolution. You score points by how in tune you are. The better you are the more the virtual audience appluads and cheers for you. If you sing like crap the you lose points and the audience boos you offstage. The reporter giving the story said his singing actually got better by playing the game.

I want to move here.

Georgia, Georgia, the whole day through
Just an old sweet song keeps Georgia on my mind.
Georgia, Georgia, a song of you
Comes as sweet and clear as moonlight through the pines.

Other arms reach out to me
Other eyes smile tenderly
Still in peaceful dreams I see
The road leads back to you.

Georgia, Georgia, no peace I find
Just an old sweet song keeps Georgia on my mind.

Melodies bring memories
That linger in my heart
Make me think of Georgia
Why did we ever part?

Some sweet day when blossoms fall
And all the world's a song
I'll go back to Georgia
'Cause that's where I belong

Well, that is odd.

I love Portland. My sister lives in Vancouver, Wash., and when I visit her i stay at a little b&b outside of Portland. Last time I was there, we visited this little dive bar. What was it called ....

um ....

Can't remember.

If you live near the water (Willamette?) there could be horse trails there, and maybe they went off the trail to explore.

melissa
12-19-2004, 12:04 AM
As far as I know there aren't any horse trails anywhere near here. And they looked so working-country, not city at all, that's the weirdest part of it.

Aphrodite
12-19-2004, 01:08 AM
When I was a teen, we had a horse ranch, with a Native American village on it. (I know, I had an unusual childhood.)

Occasionally someone would come and get me on horseback when school let out. It was fun. Then we'd ride through town and take the trails back home.

melissa
12-19-2004, 01:18 AM
That sounds lovely. For my 11th birthday, my aunt got me a horse. The next summer there was a forest fire in the valley where we lived and they put in a bunch of fire trails to stop the spread of the fire. That created a bunch of new trails for me to ride on for the next few years.

Tree vendor flying in a few

By Lynda Arakawa
Honolulu Advertiser Staff Writer

Attention, Christmas tree shoppers: You may have another chance at getting a real tree this year.

Christmas tree vendor Mele Turner is bringing in about 70 to 100 more trees by air and will sell them Saturday morning at his tree lot in Market City Shopping Center.

The Douglas and Noble firs will be 4 to 6 feet.

The Douglas firs will probably cost around $85 to $95, to make up for the airfreight costs, Turner said. The Nobles will cost a bit more.

"I'm trying to accommodate people," Turner said yesterday. "My phone is ringing off the hook. ... There are so many people that just gotta have a tree. And, within reason, they're going to pay. They know that the airfreight — it costs more than the tree."

Christmas trees have suddenly become a rare commodity because at least some vendors, stung by last year's glut of trees, ordered fewer trees this season. Many stores and Christmas tree lots on O'ahu sold out last weekend and have turned away hundreds of disappointed potential customers.

Matson Navigation Co. and Horizon Lines both said they shipped fewer trees this year. Matson's final tree shipment was Dec. 5; Horizon's last shipment was last week.

Turner said that when he airfreighted additional Christmas trees about 10 years ago, people lined up and took numbers. The trees "were gone in an hour," he said.

He said that the sales on Saturday will be conducted on a first-come, first-served basis and that he is working on a system to keep the process orderly. "I don't want people fighting over trees," he said.

2. Take pics, get film developed
3. Buy one of these:

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/images/items/269318.jpg

It's a mini-enlarger, and you don't need a darkroom to use it.

4. Buy some Polaroid 669 film
5. Expose slide picture onto the Polaroid film.
6. Rip the Polaroid film apart before it develops and press it down on a sheet of wet cold-press watercolor paper (for image transfers) OR
7. Let the Polaroid develop and dry, and then float the photo in hot water, separating the gel image from the paper backing and then arrange the transparent gel image on a new sheet of paper or tile or wood or whatever you've got laying around (for emulsion transfers)

BEWARE. . . ALL READERS. . LONG POST OF BABBLING . .. YOU MAY SKIP TO THE LAST PARAGRAPH AND CONTINUE FROM THERE.

I'm pretty good. I'm recovering from my day as taxi driver yesterday. My friend asked for a ride to the bar where i work because he forgot his coat there on Sunday, along with his keys and license. . .which turned into taking him to the doctor, his cute daughter out to lunch, then taking him to the hospital then in between picking my hubbie up from work. . taking his daughter clothes shopping and to walmart.

It was a heart wrenching day to be honest. This guys a biker, harley dude in his early 50's and he has emphasema(sp?) and his daughter is 10. Poor thing has not a single friend because they all think she's too fat. Took the little shrimp clothes shopping and she fits into women's 14's and they are all super long. She lives with her dad cause her mom, who she adores, doesn't want her anymore. She's so well mannered and sweet. We're going to have a slumber party when she gets back from visiting her mom's and we're going to bombard Sim and paint his nails! :D She loves him. At first when she met him last night she was all bashful but it didn't take too long for him to charm her. We were going to keep her for the night if her dad was staying at the hospital but he got to go home, All was well.

So anyways. . . .that was my LOOOOOONG day yesterday but completely worth it. Besides the heat breaking in our truck and it being -18 it was pretty good. Sim hot wired the heating wires so now the heat never turns off which is totally ok with me!

How was your day? What are you up to today? What are you doing for the holiday?

I'm good. Just a regular day at work...

I'll be going down to my aunt's ranch on Friday and returning on Sunday. I think it'll be a quiet weekend but I am looking forward to it.

No, I'm far from, but thank you. I figure, this time last year, Sim and I had no money and no car or anything and people did favors for us ALL the time. . . it's just our time to pay it forward.

Same old stuff. Everyone hates me, and I'm creepy.

How's school going? Finals almost finished?

Gatsby
12-31-2004, 10:02 PM
I don't hate you, nor do I think you're creepy.

Finals are OOOVVEEEERRRR. I'm out o'town visiting friends, getting ready to head back that way in a few days and start buying books and stuff. Blegh.

Getting used to the new board is weird.

Gatsby

Who knows. I might not practice at all. I don't even know what state I want to take the bar exam in. I'm just kinda drifting at this point.

And what do you REALLY want to do??
