hope you get better daver!! :)

Got a referral card from my doctor the other day and have an appointment to see an Orthopedic Surgeon about my shoulder. Seems I have a torn rotator cuff.
The guy I'll see is the orthropod for the Jacksonville Jaguars and did a consult with me a long while ago when I had partial ruptures of my Achilles tendons so I know I'm in good hands.
Funny thing:
His name is Tandron and when I emailed Momrbee and Vickie about the appt. Outlook came back with "tendon" as an alternate spelling of "Tandron"! :D

i'm a bit better, thanks :)

had to give 8 tubes of blood, they checked everything.. only high amount of lymphocytes and the rest is normal, no diseases or lack of vitamins or something..

doc talked about "post viral exhaustion" or maybe the leftovers of an allergy attack, said i have to give it 10 more days and see if it clears up.

if it does, i have to get my blood tested again and maybe do another allergy test!

thanks for thinking about me :)

i am honest, i don't know what you are referring to

anyway, i'm allergic to quite a lot of stuff but i feel that with my current medication i get more sensitive to histamin..

usually when i woke up with a headache, sore throat, runny nose, puffy eyelids and wheezing with every breath (and i hadn't been drinking the day before) i'd think "oh, allergy", use my inhaler and nose spray and have 3 cups of strong coffee to make it go away.. now that trick doesn't work anymore!

Nice, giant, blue bruises on my arms to show for it.

Nearly a decade ago, a man's fantasy became reality in a form never seen before, Kitchen Stadium, a giant cooking arena. The motivation for spending his fortune to create kitchen stadium was to encounter new, original cuisine, which could be called true, artistic creations. To realize his dream, he started choosing the top chefs of various styles of cooking, and he named his men the Iron Chefs, the invincible men of culinary skill. Iron Chef Japanese is Masaharu Morimoto, Iron Chef French is Hiroyuki Sakai, Iron Chef Chinese is Chen Kenichi, and Masahiko Kobe is Iron Chef Italian. Kitchen stadium is the arena where Iron Chefs await the challenges of master chefs from all over the world. Both the Iron Chef and challenger have one hour to tackle the theme ingredient of the day. Using all their senses, skills, creativity, they're to prepare artistic dishes never tasted before. And if ever a challenger wins over the Iron Chefs, He or she will gain the people's ovation, and fame forever. Every battle, reputations are on the line in Kitchen Stadium, where master chefs pit their artistic creations against each other. What inspiration will today's challenger bring, and how will the Iron Chefs fight back? The heat will be on!

It took me years to recognize a wheat allergy. Either that or it developed suddenly. Oddly enough, I could eat as much bread as I wanted on a trip to Spain, but as soon as I got back to the States, I started getting reactions again. They've probably done something funky to the wheat genetics here.

When I walked into where I work that day I got called directly into the bosses office to take some serious shit. It's about the most serious mistake you can make where I work. There could have been MAJOR lawsuits thrown around over that one. Fortunatly I still have my job. It did not seem to have a major affect on the stock price. So yeah, yeah... oops

The Milwaukee Zoo's polar bear needs some polar bear porn or something.

He was born in 1990. We acquired him from some other Zoo. We did not have his momma here, but the girl polar bear we DID have treated him like a son.

No bow chikka wakka chikka bow wannng at all.

So now it is 15 years later. The first girl bear that was w/him passed away a few years back. Last summer they bought him a girlfriend. Her name is Snow Lily.

But he has no idea what to do w/her. He never tried to mate w/the other bear b/c she mothered him. The zookeepers can't figure out how to convey to him that she is a mate for him. They are pretty sure he isn't gay.

More details to follow in another post 6 months from now I'm sure.

I like your inverted commas "today". Not real real today. It may be today for _some_ people, but not for others. Time is relative anyway. Not everyone's today is really really today, right? It could be any other day, depending on a lot of things. At least that's how I (and it seems, you,) see it.

Speaking of non-sequitur...

I love spontaneous coinage. (I mean, if I have to call it something.)

Some years ago, I worked behind the counter at a donut shop. One morning I was topping off a cuppa joe while the customer, an affably cranky old woman with a cigarette balanced on her lower lip (the very image, I now realize, of that popular greeting card crone in the comics) droned on about something or other, when, near as I can make out, in one oddly panicky instant, her brain sent two competing phrases, "too full" and "too much", downstairs to her mouth. Over her abruptly outstretched hand, it came out: "TOO FUTCH!"

It was the perfect way of expressing that moment... a contraction of "too f**king much" into a flashpoint of pointless anxiety.

I poured the rest of the pot into her lap in my sheer mirth.

Kidding about that last,
DDD.

There's a paralegal at work who has had a very bad attitude for years, complains loudly about not getting enough deference paid to him, and has been dreaming up idiotic little projects/busywork for me to do because he's not getting any more important assignments and needs to justify his position. I go along with it because he scares the crap out of me.

Now lately, and only when the senior lawyers are out of the office, he's been picking fights with a fellow paralegal here - loud, screaming, finger-pointing-in-her-face-even-in-front-of-clients fights. The fights go something along the lines of "You shut up!" "No you shut up!"
He gets very close, very red, and shakes everywhere.

The rumors are strong that he's about to get fired.

Should I take some life insurance out in case he comes back with a shotgun and goes postal? (Note: if I'm not here in a month or so, that will probably be why.)

I could follow Bush's example and strike preemptively, but all I can really manage is not making eye contact and ducking out when he starts yelling. One person told me she goes into his office whenever he's not in it and farts.

The disease still exists in wild animal populations from the Caucasus Mountains east across southern and central Russia, to Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and parts of China; in Southwest and Southeast Asia, Southern and East Africa (including the island of Madagascar); in North America, from the Pacific Coast eastward to the western Great Plains, and from British Columbia south to Mexico; and in South America in two areas: the Andes mountains and Brazil. There is no plague-infected animal population in Europe or Australia.

Globally, the World Health Organization reports 1,000 to 3,000 human cases of plague every year.

Mice Infected With Bubonic Plague Missing

Three mice infected with the bacteria responsible for bubonic plague apparently disappeared from a laboratory about two weeks ago, and authorities launched a search though health experts said there was scant public risk.

The mice were unaccounted-for at the Public Health Research Institute, which is on the campus of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and conducts bioterrorism research for the federal government.

Federal official said the mice may never be accounted for. Among other things, the rodents may have been stolen, eaten by other lab animals or just misplaced in a paperwork error.

If the mice got outside the lab, they would have already died from the disease, state Health Commissioner Fred Jacobs said.

The possibility of theft prompted the institute to interrogate two dozen of its employees and conduct lie detector tests, The Star-Ledger of Newark reported Thursday.

The FBI said it was investigating. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is also investigating, the newspaper reported.

University officials did not immediately return a call seeking comment Thursday morning.

The mice were injected as part of an inoculation and vaccination experiment, investigators said.

Health officials say 10 to 20 people in the United States contract plague each year, usually through infected fleas or rodents. It can be treated with antibiotics, but about one in seven U.S. cases is fatal. Bubonic plague is not contagious, but left untreated it can transform into pneumonic plague, which can be spread from person to person.

The incident came as federal authorities investigate possible corruption in the school's finances. The FBI is reviewing political donations and millions of dollars in no-bid contracts awarded to politically connected firms.
