I have become a clean air advocate, almost accidentally. A week ago I woke up with a nosebleed because of the crappy air in this valley and I started a Facebook group to protest. We now have 500 members, a connection to the governor's council on air quality, and a plan to take on the legislature.
Last night I went over to a friend's house for a few hours' DJ practice, finally had some time to reflect, and wondered what the fwk had just happened to me :p
IT'S 2009

my toe hurts!
thought i'd let you know.
With some help, I stretched the canvas for my HSC major artwork that will be consuming my life until August. And it's bigger than I am. I've never worked on anything bigger than A1 paper, so it's quite daunting, and has had me wondering quite seriously whether I've had a lapse in rational thought to undertake such a thing.
li'l 'be - i hope you'll maybe possibly perhaps let us see a picture of it when it's all finished.. just if you want to, y'know?
it's going to be a very, very thing, so it is.
^:o On shaky legs about putting its picture up on the internet - what with all the paintophiles these days. But certainly I will send pictures via email for the interested people.

Coffee
02-25-2009, 08:17 PM
Airplanes are built like paper...they are NOT deisgned to both fly And survive a "hard" crash. They couldn't fly if they could survive a hard crash...the extra weight would ground em.
If I were king of the world, i would insist that "crash landing ponds" would be created adjacent to every airport...and spaced every 50 miles between major airports along heavily flown routes. Imagine if there was a handy mile long "reservoir/lake park" that was 8 feet deep available to "soft crash" in during emergencies. A splash down is far safer than a sparking metal tearing/scraping emergency landing on concrete. When not being used for emergency landings, they could be used as Park and Rec areas. When needed for an emergency landing, speakers around the park blare out an emergency signal and folks enjoying the park have time to get the fark away from the area just in case.
oh...an anouncement. The people in charge of our safety in the air are stupid.

Aviation in itself is not inherently dangerous. But to an even greater degree than the sea, it is terribly unforgiving of any carelessness, incapacity or neglect.

Frieda and I synchronized watches and did simultaneous transatlantic toe rubs and now mine's all better.
Hi friend
The toe plays a very important role to hold a thing in your hand, the best thing for blisters is a product called skin, which you should be able to pick up at a drug store. You put the second skin over the blister than use a couple band aids to keep it in place and you won't even know it's there anymore, skin problem normally occur in the toe so please keep concentrate on it.
I have to say this is good advice though - I had been wondering why my toe bones were all visible. of course, silly me, I had never bothered to clothe them in skin.
YsaPur EsChomuw
03-18-2009, 02:13 PM

How many forum members does it takes to change a light bulb?
1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed
14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently
7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs
1 to move it to the Lighting section
2 to argue then move it to the Electricals section
7 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs
5 to flame the spell checkers
3 to correct spelling/grammar flames
6 to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb" ... another 6 to condemn those 6 as stupid
2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp"
15 know-it-alls who claim they were in the industry, and that "light bulb" is perfectly correct
19 to post that this forum is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a lightbulb forum
11 to defend the posting to this forum saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts are relevant to this forum
36 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique and what brands are faulty
7 to post URL's where one can see examples of different light bulbs
4 to post that the URL's were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URL's
3 to post about links they found from the URL's that are relevant to this group which makes light bulbs relevant to this group
13 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers and signatures, and add "Me too"
5 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy
4 to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?"
13 to say "do a Google search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs"
1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again.

I tried on some old jeans. Not only do they fit again with room to spare, but I've also found three bucks stuffed into the front pocket. Flush with a heady sense of accomplishment, I've done 120 extra sit ups to reward myself.
Now the sun is shining faintly.
Soon I'll run to the coffee shop to tell Rico all about this. He'll be faintly but politely bemused, and scratch his gray stubble. Then I'll spend the three bucks. This will be great because Village Coffee only takes cash, and I never have cash. I'll be wearing my favorite black t-shirt that says
"Ni Franca, Ni Espana
P A I S O S
C A T A L A N
LLiures I Solidaris"
Rico will know a little something about Basque politics.
I'll spend the morning in a sunny window, randomly casting kindergarteners in a play I wrote for them about Cesar Chavez. Today after lunch, I'll teach them to chant "The People, United, Will Never Be Defeated." They're going to really enjoy that.
I will be twittering this shortly in tiny increments, but you heard it here first.
It's all a part of the big publicity push now that I fit into the jeans.

((when my mother died i was holding her head in my hands thanks be unto whoever positioned her hospital bed in the middle of the room to allow more peole to fit into the room (and perhaps to me taking a 3 day course in craniosacral therapy thus giving me the confidence and natural urge to do it)

Sending her & you all good vibes!!
Give her all confidence, positivity and love you have. This helped my grandpa (he had also an operation and radiation therapy and it worked out 100%, every test since then shows zero cancer cells, actually he looks and feels better than for a long time before that all!), the worries my grandma and me had we kept between us, for the sick person is scared enough.

I have a six week old pomeranian puppy. A rescue puppy. She is cute, I am working with her on some issues, such as SHE IS LARGE AND IN CHARGE. Trying not to let her control things, but, boy, she does like to run things. She is only 1.5 lbs, but she does not know it. In her mind she is 250 pounds, don't tell her anything else. We start obedience classes Sept. 21. Hope we both learn something. I am firm with her, redirect her attention/aggression, and she gets it for the most part, but still would like her own way. I have learned to be firm, and praise her for the behaviour I want and ignore the bad stuff. That is what the trainer told me to do anyway.

You have been telling the people that this is the Eleventh Hour.
Now you must go back and tell the people that this is the Hour.
And there are things to be considered:
Where are you living? What are you doing?
What are your relationships? Are you in right relation?
Where is your water? Know your garden.
It is time to speak your Truth.
Create your community.
Be good to each other.
And do not look outside yourself for the leader.
This could be a good time!
There is a river flowing now very fast.
It is so great and swift that there are those who will be afraid.
They will try to hold on to the shore.
They will feel they are being torn apart, and they will suffer greatly.
Know the river has its destination.
The elders say we must let go of the shore, push off into the middle
of the river, keep our eyes open, and our heads above water.
See who is in there with you and celebrate.
At this time in history, we are to take nothing personally.
Least of all, ourselves.
For the moment that we do, our spiritual growth and journey comes to a halt.
The time of the lone wolf is over. Gather yourselves!
Banish the word struggle from your attitude and your vocabulary.
All that we do now must be done in a sacred manner and in celebration.
We are the ones we've been waiting for.

Thank you Lukku. You have incredible timing. I came in here to announce that I'm down to no immediate prospects.
I'm awake with worry that we're going to lose our mooring.
Perhaps now is the time to let go of everything and test providence.

Brynn, I have this overwhelming impression that there has to be a better way.
I don't know what that way is, but I do know that every time I've tried to figure it out, I've ended up doing the wrong thing. It seems like maybe I should just close my eyes and navigate by sense of smell. Good luck to you, and hope you got more sleep last night than I did.

We were probably both up giving it all some pondering.
It may be time to find something service-oriented. There are a lot of older folks out there that need help with physical stuff like buying groceries and going to the doctor. This artist business is not terribly practical.

commitment is the key? you mean like the ants (termites?) that Epicurus
spoke of? working nonstop from the moment they are born intil a couple of moments before they die?
Isn't that more weight on your shoulders than needed? :)
