Your Portland restauranteurs are playing it fast and loose with that Crunchberry zombie ritual over the donut, by the way. Unless they nailed it to a tree afterwards.

Brynn
01-25-2009, 02:57 AM
Ahem. Not to be contentious, but I strongly disagree. I seem to remember that Deviate said, long ago, that the board needed at least one safe thread for chronic thread-killers (like me) where you didn't have to worry about whether or not you were going to kill the thread. We then all started competing to kill the thread, which made it wildly popular.
The nice thing is, if this is indeed the thread-killing post to end it all (nothing like dissecting things), then I win.

How does one kill a thread, anyway?
there are several ways that people try to kill threads:
1) post a link to something so gross or disturbing that other board members won't want to open the thread ever again to comment
2) post something so stupid or banal that other board members won't want to open the thread ever again to comment
3) post something so witty that other board members won't want to compete because they could never win
but the real way to kill a thread is simply to keep posting until other people forget about the thread

Martin Scorsese is determined to make "Silence" his next movie. The helmer and Graham King's GK Films are negotiating with Oscar winners Daniel Day-Lewis and Benicio Del Toro to star. Gael Garcia Bernal is also circling the film, expected to begin production later this year in New Zealand.
The drama is set in the 17th century as two Jesuit priests face violence and persecution when they travel to Japan to locate their mentor and to spread the gospel of Christianity.
"Silence" is based on the Shusaku Endo novel, which was adapted by Jay Cocks. Scorsese has had the project on his radar for more than a decade.
King will produce with Gianni Nunnari and Barbara DeFina.
The film would be Day-Lewis' third with Scorsese following "Gangs of New York" and "The Age of Innocence." Day-Lewis has completed the Rob Marshall-directed musical "Nine."
"Silence" would mark the first collaboration for Scorsese and Del Toro, who most recently starred in the Steven Soderbergh-directed "Che" and next stars as the title character in "The Wolf Man." Garcia Bernal, best known for "Babel" and "Y tu mama tambien," is in early talks.

Edge of Seventeen" is a song by American singer Stevie Nicks, the third single from her successful 1981 solo debut album Bella Donna. Written by Nicks to express the grief resulting from the death of her uncle Jonathon and the murder of John Lennon during the same week of December 1980, the song features a distinctive, chugging 16th-note guitar riff, and a simple chord structure typical of Nicks's songs.

It's Joaquin Phoenix I'm talking about. Sorry I was vague :). I feel bad for him because he's shy, and yet he's contractually bound to go on talk shows to promote the latest movie he's in - apparently his last, which is a real shame. There are rumors that this is just a fake persona he's putting on for publicity, but if that's the case, he's doing an extremely convincing job of it. I believe him.

Put those ferrets in some petticoats and some black and red costumes, teach 'em to jimjam with the rest of them, and we just might have a new internet sensation...
Not to make you look at it again or anything...
....but if you look at it again just for the wonder of the interactive choreography and all, you'll see a near-miss with a blonde on a collision course with Mr. Nabors around 1:19 - 1:20. However, he's such a pro, it doesn't even phase him.
I began to imagine the hours of rehearsal that went into this number, and the countless decisions that went with it. Should we hang silver streamers and go with blue rhinestone leotards, or stay true to Jim's country-boy roots and go with the weird hoe-down theme, complete with the strangely "rustic" dining room lanterns? The pleasant passive-aggression of Jim Nabors, who just isn't satisfied with "good enough," and makes them polish the number to a fine sheen for hours upon hours....all the while encouraging the exhausted, underpaid dancers with false hopes of taking them on an imminent USO tour for troops in Viet Nam as soon as he has a chat with his good friend, Bob Hope at his next golf tournament, etc.

Quotation Debate and The Beautiful Thread
that reminds me :: Let's bring back
The Thread Thread
I promis not to kill it
this time
Dear Lovely Mo, thank you for inspiring me to think about this.
I am a champion thread-killer, so I say this with great affection:
I do wish you'd embrace the thread killers thread instead of image association. Your comments in image association have ruined the thread for me, even as I enjoy your comments elsewhere. I just don't go in there any more because I'm going along and there's this lovely wordless conversation going on and then all of a sudden there's this incomprehensible quote from Chairman Mao.
When I go to image association I just want to look at pretty pictures or nifty videos and reply and interact without words.
This thread here - it's made for people like you and me who are thinking too many things at once. So nothing is inappropriate here.
Anytime you want, just come into this secret room here. I do it all the time for when I'm feeling other and just want to get things out of my system. You can leave a mess and water all over the floor, and do finger painting on the walls. The place is self-cleaning. And if it kills the thread, you win! Like for instance, I think this post is a thread-killer. So I put it in here where nobody will see it. I would not be surprised if it sits here for months with no comment. And that's the point. We can talk about things if it's interesting, or not talk.
Love, Brynn
P.S. These people would eat us both for breakfast. (forums.thedailywtf.com/forums/p/10919/190705.aspx)Which is why I still post here. And why I don't want the fiction project at zefrank.com to die out.
I was about to leave the thread-killer to its work but then I realised I wanted to say the same thing but Brynn has nicer words.
Mo is lovely and chaos bombs are great but it makes me sad to see them in the image thread.
Keep Moing MoJo, there's still room(s) to make a mess and it's great :)
