Today is a short day in the office for me. At 1500 I'm taking the train with 5 friends to Zakopane (http://www.zakopane.pl/miasto/pigulka-uk/)

we stay in the Tatra mountains until sunday, we'll do some hiking there, sleeping in mountain cabins. Great. Back on monday.

When I was a kid we used to go to a campground run by the Lutheran Church of North Carolina. Every year during the last week of summer, they'd open it up to folks from other states to come and visit.

I actually thought I had mailing tubes here, it's been quite the search. none.

Go by any carpet shop and see if they have empty tubes you can have. We used to use them to ship flutes many years ago when I lived in the Gainesville area.
Our Medical Photographer has me cut up any tubes we get carpet or other things shipped in so she can send posters.
Nico can do the cutting for you and it doesn't do any harm to the saw blade. Best part is, they're free!

Here's a bit of a wake-me-up for you...

Ingredients
4 jalapeno chile peppers
5 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 onion, finely chopped
1 tablespoon white sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
1 (10 ounce) can diced tomatoes with green chile peppers
1 (28 ounce) can whole peeled tomatoes


Directions
1 Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
2 Place jalapeno chile peppers on a medium baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven 15 minutes, or until roasted. Remove from heat and chop off stems.
3 Place jalapeno chile peppers, garlic, onion, white sugar, salt, ground cumin and diced tomatoes with green chile peppers in a blender or food processor. Chop using the pulse setting for a few seconds. Mix in whole peeled tomatoes. Chop using the pulse setting to attain desired consistency. Transfer to a medium bowl. Cover and chill in the refrigerator until serving.

Yes, I know it is like ten thirty... but it is my morn. I am having coffee and juice and I am in serious pain... I spent five hours on the river in Phoenix on Saturday, drinking.... and now I am the same color as a lobster. Phoenix was a blast but I am happy to be back in Vegas. It always get's out of hand when I go to see the kids I grew up with. They poured me into the cair at my sisters house and the last thing I remember saying was, 'Mom, don't talk to me, I am not sober." How was everyone elses weekend? Oh yeah.... Dos Gringos in Tempe is the "jump off".

It's a pug. That dog has her nose pushed back further than her eyes! She breathes like an 18-wheeler idling. And the stink! omg. I can't eat when she's around.

Anybody know of good breath mints for dogs?

Oh wait, it gets better. she farts too. I'll be on the couch, minding my own business and I am suddenly under nasal assalt! I have to keep matches with me at all times.

It's gonna be a looooong two weeks.

if there are no mountain lions or coyotees in your area, I'm thinking "a leash tied to something outside...with a dog on the other end" at least to give yourself the occasional olfactory break...dogs love fresh air, even if they are incapable of producing any.

It gets so hot here, I couldn't leave her out all day, but I will kick her outside from time to time.

This dog is seriously overweight. I took her for a walk around the block yesterday and by the end I fely like I was taking her on a death march. I guess I'll have to break her into a block gently. Maybe I can even knock a pound off of her before my sis gets back!
