I normally wake up when Sim leaves for work at 6:30. . . I hate when I sleep in.

WTF is Greyhound thinking???
It was 40 bucks more for Greyhound than the train. On the bus there is no where to walk around, no snack bar, crappy no-room seats, no where to escape farting old people sitting next to you...and the bus takes 6 hours longer.

Greyhound passengers = Morons

Folks in Miami are freaking out right now. The high was 58 the other day. I'd bet my house that most of them are in coats, sweaters, scarves, gloves, hats, and thick socks. While all the Canadians and Ohioans were out on the beach sunning themselves and playing in the surf! :D

The story of wednesday.

I woke up this morning with a slight hangover, wandered past my parents room to discover my mother looking through old photographs. There were several of me as a child, including one with this guy (then boy) I used to play with, us both dressed as cowboys.

Stuffed some lunch down my throat (leftovers from yesterdays family party) and ran to Damians to meet up for going for a walk. I walked in to discover his mother in tears. They're dog had been taken to the vet after he'd had a fit or something. And she feared the worst. Anywho, he was brought back while I was still there and was fine. We went out to walk around Hollinworth Lake. And it was raining, you know that very fine rain that soaks you through. It was wet and cold.

We got back and their dog was ill again, and there was a certain girl there who isn't my most favourite person at the moment so I left - quick.

I got in and my parents were watching Harry Potter. I went upstairs to dry off and watched two episodes of Little Britain. Chips and curry for tea. My least favourite girl asked if I wanted to come for a drink tonight and I reluctantly agreed. I have since persuaded several other people to come to ease tension, just about to go and get ready....

You are all welcome to come and have a medical test. Just line up and give the receptionist your names. I took care of 11 people today instead of the nine I was supposed to have. I titrated, drew blood and centrifuged. I used my pipettes and capillary tubes. I did the hemoglobin A1C's initial lab work with the heparin solutions, and sent the specimens off with the courier all before 1:30 pm. Woo Hoo for me!

Now if you need to book an appointment for bloodwork, just make sure you fast for 12 hours and DONT chew gum.

None of the labs here will call it a fasting bloodwork if the patient has had chewing gum or a mint or anything. The candy coating and oils in the gum can alter some results and give false highs on some tests.

Cholesterol testing and blood sugar testing are just two of the tests that come to mind. Most of our complete bloodwork tests require the patient to fast so that we can get a baseline reading without the effect of food. Think of it this way, if you take alcohol into your mouth, it is found in the blood rather quickly. The same goes for everything else.

I care for many diabetics and don't need a reading of their blood sugar after they have eaten. I need a reading before they altered it.

The interview is today - it's a group interview which will be a first for me. When a manager does that with people who he knows and has worked with for at least 10 months, I guess he may already have a good idea who he wants for the job. I'm just going to enjoy the experience! But first I need more sleep.

The medical procedure I went through on Friday went well. Doc found one polyp and sent it off to be biopsied. Other than that he didn't seem worried and thinks we can do it again in four years instead of three. Woo-hoo! Something to look forward to in 2009! :D

Good Morning everyone. I have a meeting in about an hour and a half. There is a wicked amount of snow out there and more is falling. The snow is coming directly off the lake and my drive is going to be a challenge.
