it's original concept was a thread for me to bitch at the baseball gods for ripping my heart out and stringing me along all season... bu that won't kick in for real until september, so posts from now until then are just a way to fill space...

This is me drunk, everything makes sense to me, but may not to you, be warned
Last summer each time we broke up, it poured rain here. This summer, us breaking up means the Yankees get smacked on the behind. They lost to DETROIT?!!
I consider it justice.

You should have done it before they beat Boston in the ALC last year. Would have saved EVERYONE grief. :D
I am not, of course, making fun of your situation, but since we're examining the possibilites, I am going to think like a Sox fan for a moment here -- they're my second team after the Tribe. ;) I'd like to see them break the Curse of the Bambino, though I actually think it's the Curse of Jackie Robinson that's really holding them back, and in that case it's deservedly so.

ha, like there's a chance of that!
We shall see -- new kid on the block Howry is showing a great deal of promise, and they sent Jiminez down to the fvcking minors where he belongs. As long as our offense doesn't face a string of finesse pitchers we actually stand a chance, I think. Wickman's back, too, so we may get somewhere.

ha ha ha...you know you won't.....
Stephen King should write a book about baseball fans. Besides, that is, "The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon", which rawks.
I'm serious, though. It's like that shit they get in "The Tommyknockers". Even though we see ourselves transforming into alien zombies every season, we keep going back to the source of the signal. LOL

Love Mr. King. Just read his latest in The Dark Tower series. "The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon" rocked.
Oh, and the Tigers, can you believe it. Our teams in Michigan normally suck. But, guess the Pistons did ok, and we are really hopeful about the Lions. We shall see.....

Well, there's also the Red Wings!
As for Stephen King, when I read "The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon", I was in awe. I mean, I knew he could do stuff like "The Stand", and I already loved him for it. But he got credibly inside the head of a nine-year-old girl (who was very like the nine-year-old girl I once was) and wrote a very believable, very powerful piece of fiction that, though it contained elements of horror, was really more about the human spirit. Very cool. I adore Stephen King.

With the risk of hijacking this thread, sorry this belongs under the "Good Reads" thread, "The Green Mile" was great. It was all about forgiveness and redemption. Loved it. Now, on to baseball. Sorry....

Here is something to take your mind off those pesky baseball things..
***************************
Oops. Ashley Judd Locked Out Naked
How embarrassing! Ashley Judd was just trying to do her yoga in a secluded hotel cabin in Yosemite National Park. The Associated Press reports that the star of "De-Lovely" was buck naked when she leaned outside her door to get her yoga mat and the door suddenly slammed shut behind her. Oops.
So Ashley did what any resourceful woman would do. She picked up that mat and fashioned a covering of sorts and boldly walked to the lobby of the Ahwahnee Hotel to get a second key. As if walking into that lobby covered only by a yoga mat wasn't enough, Ashley said she realized later that her face was smeared with pimple cream. Judd told AP she likes being "in a cathedral of trees and the sanctuary of canyons."
*******************************
Now there is a visual for ya!! ;)

see, maybe i missed the boat by just saying dodgers suck-- once i started attacking all of baseball, they started winning and the sf bastards started losing. so let's see how long this lasts.
baseball sucks.

Unh-uh. It only works if you're unaware you're doing it. Conscious effort is cheating and renders it ineffective.

Neither does one of our local sportswriters (Bud Shaw, just to keep his name out of it) , and he's made a goddam career out of it! ;)

here's the first piece in the dodgers' eventual demise:
we aquired a reliever-- yes, a freakin' reliever-- from the IRC. WTF IS THAT CRAP?
Stewart was 0-2 with a 7.24 ERA in 23 games with the Indians this season. The left-hander was sent down to Triple-A Buffalo in early July.

Christ, as much money as I've blown on tickets, gear and assorted other crap over the years, they should be the goddamn Cleveland Sparticles. Which, come to think of it, would be a hell of a lot less offensive than "Cleveland Indians" anyway, and the uniforms would be cooler.
