I had that problem, too, until I took a course at SF State University's Continuing Education department, "How to Send Mail to Other Countries."

You might check to see if your local institutions of higher learning offer something similar. Note that while it's nice if you plan to go on to get your degree in, say, Daily Routine Tasks, you usually do not have to take it for credit. In fact, if you just audit the class, it's usually cheaper. With the tuition money I saved on the no-credit class, I was able to send four or five letters to friends in Europe and South America!

There is a postage calculator on there. You just find the country and it will tell you, for letters and postcards.

The out of country rate is 80 cents. Go to the postoffice and buy 80 cent stamps. Or just stand there looking stupid and lost and someone will help you and even put the stamps on the postcards for you. That is what I do. Look stupid.

70 cents is the rate for a postcard.

If you really want it to get there fast..you can send it express guarenteed for a mere $32.00:p

use the calculator above it is a straight forward postcard or light envelope.

I too am the recipient of a brilliant Spicy Jack comic. It has magic powers, too! The moment I read it, I was overcome with a feeling of guilt over being so lax in my Monkey Mailings.

When I put it away for day, though, the feeling went away, and then I looked at it again, and the feeling came back! If I put it up on the wall where I can see it at all times, I feel bad ALL the time!

I don't think anybody ever sent me a magic cartoon before!

I love that place. Once, years ago, they had a boat and trailer out front to entice people in. It was a tiny little turquoise and white two-seater thing with an outboard motor, open topped with a little windshield, and at about 3AM, even though the sidewalk was still really crowded, there was a fat, filthy, stinky street person sprawled across the seats, fast asleep and snoring really loudly, and written on the windshield of the boat were the words "Win me free!! Details inside!!!" Hahahaha!!! :D

I tried to write on them but they are *extra glossy* so even the perm. marker had a hard time staying on. So yeah, that was my *cleaning up the wood* project for the year ;)

Someone told me they once tied an address tag with postage to a roast chicken and it made its way successfully from New York to California.

I am not sure I believe that, but I have heard stories about bowling balls and other odd items being mailed successfuly.

No, no!! My postcard (and others that I get ;) ) is tacked to the cube wall, above and behind my bamboo plant. I have started putting some personal affects in one corner of my cube/desk, next to the computer but I hadn't put anything on the wall yet and it is developing into sort of have a shrine feeling. OK, this Monkey Mail business is just serving to expose to the world exactly how fooking irresponsible I am.

I took a page of labels with me to Cape Cod, bought what I thought were enough Provincetown postcards for all of you, and then realized when I started writing them that my preparations were horrifically inadequate.

So between the wind and the rain and not enough cards or postage, I'm afraid some monkeys, including all outside of the US, have been sorely neglected by me.

I do not remember whom it is I slighted, but I reeeeeaaaaaaalllly hope ti wasn't Daverbee, because I got home from the airport last night to find not one, but two cards from him -- a sign either of his incredible warmth and generosity, or his evil and insidious way of filling me with guilt and insecurity.

I will try to make up for this someday, someway...
