I have this sneaking suspicion that the postal workers in the little Cape Cod town I mailed my postcards from last week read what I wrote about them and threw my Monkey Mail away.

Isn't that a federal offense?!

(It's not like I am fishing for any acknowledgment that I got off my ass and finally mailed anything or anything like that... :p)

I know! Katherine Harris, heady after her success at screwing with the 2000 elections in Florida, has moved to North Truro, Massachusetts, where she has taken to tampering with the U.S. mail!

There can be no other explanation.

Someone call the press!!

If you didn't write so well your cards wouldn't get circulated first to all the local postal workers before being sent on to intended destinations.

DrSmooth!!

Thanks for the postcard! It was special delivered to me in it's very own envelope which had printed on one side:

"Dear Valued Postal Customer:
I want to extend my sincere apology as your Postmaster for the enclosed document that was enadvertently damaged in handling by your Post Office.

We are aware how important your mail is to you. With that in mind, we are forwarding it to you in an expeditious fashion.

The U.S. Postal Service handles over 202 billion pieces of mail each year. While each employee makes a concerted effort to process, without damage, each piece of mail, an occasional mishap does happen.

We are constantly working to improve our processing methods so that these incidents will be eliminated. You can help us greatly in our efforts if you will continue to properly prepare and address each letter or parcel that you enter into the mailstream.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding and sincerely regret any inconvenience that you have experienced.

Your Postmaster"

The postcard was mangled, then repaired with tape. It looks pretty funny, like a cute puppy with it's leg bandaged.

Thanks for the card, Dr Smooth!!

I am married to a postal employee. A few months ago, I found these great, oversized postcards that took 37 cent stamps. They were awesome. My hsb. told me they would never get delivered. I didn't listen and mailed them anyway. None of them got delivered :( And I hand picked a card for everyone on the list at that time.

Great..now I am pissed off all over again.

Spicy Jack

I think Lala is the only one that successfully delivered oversized postcards. Maybe she has got an "in" with the USPS!?

I've mailed oversized cards before with 37¢ stamps, but these were your standard-issue tourist postcards.

It leads one to believe that all those slots at the post office that read Local, Out Of Town, Metered Mail, International, etc., all drop into the same garbage can on the other side of the wall.

It does REALLY steam me! I mean, look how long it took to get off my ass and send something. Now, who KNOWS how long it will be before I get around to mailing the next batch!

It isn't your mail person; it is in the machinery the post office uses to sort mail. I have had this speech given to me numerous times (like any time I bitch about this). All of our lovely, well thought out cards, are in the dead letter box.

Make $$$ Easy!

Long Beach USPS sucks big time. I have already had to go down to the post office and raise holy hell for them losing 2 packages that were sent to me. If you are feeling lucky/unlucky and you want to do a bit of gambling, all you have to do is send me an insured package for a mere $3.20 and there is a good chance they will lose the package and you will win $100. It's not a sure bet, but it is pretty damn close. :(

heh, sounds like a decent money making idea Spicy.

Lets send something insured...ahem... "valued at $100.00" back and forth tilll it gets lost and then collect the insurance...something cheap and light that will take minimum postage.

I understand from my mother that I was left on my parents' doorstep by their mailman at the time. She told this to me numerous times. (Although, now that I think about it, I remember she only seemed to tell me that when she was angry. And sometimes she'd tell me it was the milkman, not the mailman...)

Thanks ladies.

I got two cards -- one from Spicy, and the other from both Spicy AND Peef-pea from Spicy's latest Midwest vacation. On one side above her cute little picture, Spicy scrawled a note telling me what a great time she was having in Wisconsin, and Peef used the other side to write a personal message to me.

I assume that Peef-pea took the photo of SJ (a candid shot with her open maw chock full of her cheesy lunch) but noticed that in her note to me, she didn't even MENTION Spicy, so I am not sure if the two of them had a good time when they got together.

Perhaps Spicy didn't find the documentation of her dairy-related gluttony flattering. Personally, I think she's being modest, because even with her whiskers stained with cheddar, she appears cute as a button.

Hey, Coffee, thanks! Your postcard just slipped out of a stack of bills I have been avoiding, making that particular stack of mail considerably more palatable!

:D

Meanwhile, I have mortgaged my home to buy more stamps, which I am planning to take to Florida at the end of the week to report to you all from the poll-watching frontlines. (Although now I understand that the frontlines have moved to Ohio -- perhaps the reporting you hear will be only of incidental skirmishes, and I will be spared witness to the bloodiest electoral warfare.)

ummm...can do: drywalling, framing, roofing, electrical work, plumbing, auto repair, cat claw trimming, grind telescope mirrors, make jams and jellies, bake; breads, cakes, pies, cookies, torts and tarts, play; flute, saxophone (learning), and harmonica, and I'm waiting on my first homemade batch of Kahlua to "age"....errr....the list does go on...

My parents told me I can do ANYTHING I want to do...so far they are right....except for learning guitar, chords fvck me up...I prefer linear instruments (one linear that is...guitars have multiple linears going on). I'm thinking of applying energy to the idea of aquiring and learning stand up Bass though...I think I could do that.

and, I assume that I can't succesfully run for public office...poor athiest hippies are NOT electable. :(

Excellent question, Jacky Spice. I've been wondering the same thing myself.

Would a certain Cleveland-based mail monkey care to comment? Hmmmm?

Whaa?? Did you EAT them?! They're probably stale by now, anyway. (Hell, they were stale when I sent them.) You better send something else. But at least forward the original mail packaging with your added personalization. UNLESS YOU THREW THAT AWAY!!

I didn't eat them but I am not giving them to anyone else, either. They're MINE! All MINE! And they are from YOU. I am not parting with them.

I bought new ones (which are probably now stale). I was rather surprised to find them. They had a lunch variety. Very cool.

I do still have the original packaging, unless Felix Unger, aka Mr. Spart, got ahold of it and threw it out. (Over the years, he has thrown away a $700 check from a tenant, a driver's license, a set of car keys, autographed baseball cards and a brand new pair of shoes, among other famous discards).

The Irish also say "true that". NOT "true dat", but "true that."

The Irish also use "be" a lot.

"Don't be talkin'." "I be thinkin' on it." "There they be!"

It gives one pause, I suppose....

Mo'fo' is simply my own vulgar adoption of local custom. Every mo'fo' thing in the mo'fo' world, every mo'fo and their mo'fo mama, is subject in this city and nothing is safe from the ubiquitous and universal modifier, "mo'fo'." Not a mo'fo' thing, I tell ya.

By the by, Sparticlees, Ava, Spicy, Dinz, Pricey, and Rap, you should be receiving monkey mail very soon!
As for the rest of you's, I am still looking for the pc's I already bought specifically for you.
Zaf and Sim, is your address on the monkey mailing list?? I don't think I saw it.

Update.
Daver's bread did in fact arrive yesterday. The tardy UPS system caused it to arrive "not quite fresh". But...the bread passed the test of truly good bread, it had great flavor despite being somewhat on the dry side. Excellent baking Daverbee. I'll be using most of it to make breaded onion rings and stuff, though a couple of slices out of the middle are still quite eatable as is. Thank you very much Daverbee. :)

You could always make French toast out of it. You need slightly stale bread so it really soaks up the batter. At least that's what AB says.

You're very welcome Aphrodite :) .

So much for 4-6 day delivery though. :(

I actually used the matching/remaining "Avalon/Aphro Mocha beans" this morning. It's still pretty good, though at a day over 2 weeks old, it isn't at it's peak, use it up asap.

No, it's not. . but I'd be happy to exchange via PM, that's what's been happening, I can just be a lazy mofo and haven't gotten everyone's address yet.

OK, three accounted for pc receiver's. I sent out like 8. I hope they all find homes.
