I actually used the matching/remaining "Avalon/Aphro Mocha beans" this morning. It's still pretty good, though at a day over 2 weeks old, it isn't at it's peak, use it up asap.
Mine was most wonderful and now, *sniff* long gone:( ;)

Hey Monkeys!
So I get home tonight to find that my room mate has spilled coffee on my desk. The bad news is that along with my bills, my monkey mail address list is totally ruined. Actually the bills are still readable & send in-able, but the list of addresses is fully smeared. The good news is that none of her coffee landed on my laptop.
If I have ever sent you a postcard...or you want one from me in the future, please PM me your address. Thanks, Gang.
Got a Seattle card from DEvi. Thank you baby. *smooch*

Can we all give a big round of applause, and take a moment to honor Sparticle, the Monkey who today has earned the highest award one can receive in an Internet message thread called "Monkey Mail," the coveted James Magilicuddy Stewart Good Citizenship Award!
http://www.jimmy.org/news/images/jmspatch.gif
The reasons for such an honor being granted might be a mystery to some, but I'm sure we can all agree she deserves it for something, even if we are not privvy to specific exclusive information that may not have been divulged to us, is that not so?

I have a new favorite mixed cd thanks to mr. smarty pants!! I love manu chao! This is wonderful!!! :)
Cool! I'm so glad you like them! :D It's just a random sampling of the stuff I've been listening to lately.
I got to see Paris Combo live when I was in Paris a couple weeks ago. They are just too great. Their style is all over the board, so it was hard to choose a sampling from their five albums.
And Manu Chao's been a fave for years now. That isn't my favorite of everything he's done, but it seemed necessary as an intro to a Monkey Mix, don't you think? :D
(FYI, that third and fourth track are from two different sources. The first part is from a Library of Congress Field Recordings album by Alan Lomax, who went around the country recording folk music as a sort of living history; the second is a remix of the same song done for the soundtrack of The General's Daughter, a shit movie with a phenomenal soundtrack. I think the remix is brilliant -- there are a number of them on the soundtrack disc.)

The definitive compilation for the dirty old man of French popular music. A legend in Europe but only a cult figure in America, where his lone hit 'Je T'Aime...Moi Non Plus' (included here) stalled on the pop charts fittingly enough at number 69.

Hey! It's got a cut from Jane Birkin. Can't be bad! And Canned Heat. I loved them in the 7th grade. Although I liked "American Woman" better than "Goin' Up the Country." :D

I think it's more likely to be banned now because it's French than because it's sexual. I mean, look at the lyrics the FCC allows now.
Do you have the English lyrics to that song? I'm curious.

HAHAHAHA!!! :D
Do you have the English lyrics to that song? I'm curious.
I thought it was the universal language of love, but just a little more nasal.
"anh aaaanh aanh!" instead of "ah aaaaah aah!"
But seriously, the exact meaning of some of it all seems to be in dispute on the Web. (One person says 'moi non plus" means "me either," the following says "nor do I." Neither of those make much sense. I would have thought it meant "not more than me." It's obviously an idiom beyond my meager croissant-ordering French. Perhaps a Monkey Francais can help. Ally?
Here are the lyrics someone else posted. (There's another somewhere from a cover of the song by Nick Cave and Anita somebody.")
Nor do I
Oh my love
Like the wave
Irresolute
I go I go and I come
Inside you my love I go and I come
Inside you my love
And then I hold on
I love you I love you
Oh Yes I love you
Nor do I
You are the wave
And I the naked island
You go you go and you come you go and you come inside me my love and then we are one
I love you I love you
Oh yes I love you
Nor do I
Oh my love
Like the wave irresolute
I go i go and I come
Inside you my love I go and I come
Inside you my love
And then I hold on
(orgasms)
I love I love you my love
Inside me my love
I love you my love
Deep inside me my love
And then we are one
I love you
I love you
Oh yes I love
Nor do I
Oh my love
Physical love is a dead end
I go I go and I come
Inside you my love
I go and I come
And I hold on
Now...come
(orgasms again)

Board/Bored members have traditionally refered to themselves as ZeMonkeys.
Apparently that hasn't been used in some time. There was a bit of a board/bored blow up some short time ago...the population has shifted personalities somewhat, and some "shortcut" lingo is not as used as it used to be...and new lingo has tended to crop up as one would expect amoung a new/changing population...as languages in general tend to do.
For a complete list of former board lingo...refer to several hundred thousand former posts over several years...good luck. :p :p :p :)

I will see what I can do! That may entail a trip down to St. Augustine, although there's no problem with that!
I'll let you know when it gets here.
Alsoooooooo...
I had two cards in the mail when I got home yesterday, both from the Nimble One!
I agree, that is an interesting looking individual.
How did he/she/it/they get their left leg swollen like that? :D

Glad you liked the cards. One reason we started this was to give ourselves something besides bills and junk mail to get.

Thank you Davers for the beautiful Dale Chihuly card - good intuition there! I'm a fan as well.
I also greatly enjoyed the postcard from Biltmore Estate House/Gardens/Winery of their Italian garden.
"Three symmetrical pools and classical statuary mark the Italian Garden's formal design, enclosed by a hemlock hedge on one side and a stone wall on the other.
While created as an outdoor "room," George Vanderbilt and his family also used this garden for tennis and croquet."
Look for yours - going out today...

Nothing like hijacking on the end of a conversation and seeing the first post on the page being the above statement to make you wonder what was being previously discussed. Now, I shall back read.

There's 100 pages to this thing and I'm just now discovering this?
I am ashamed of myself.
I collect postcards. Unused postcards. My collection is nearing a thousand. I've been at it for 3 years now and even have postcards from *gasp* Checkoslovakia. So, if anyone wants to send me some lovely unused postcards, that'd rock...:D

Daverbee I just got another card from you :p Beautiful fall colors in North Carolina. Weird my son's father just moved there? They have fall in the South? For some reason I thought that most of the South was like Florida, hot all year no real seasons? Inform me I live on a glacier up in the north Atlantic!
I wrote you a second card last night, all I have to do is get these in a mail box today :)

Actually, we get fall colors all the way down to North Florida where I live. NC has been known to get up to 12 inches of snow in the mountains!
Save money, come and visit us!

It's very tempting. :( My friend lives in Tampa Bay and has been trying to get me to come visit for a while. I love going to Key West, the drive through all the Keys and all the strange trailers by the roads. I'm a bit broke at the moment but who knows maybe next year some time

I think the next round will go out sometime this coming weekend. However, if you've been on the list for 2 years & I've never received a card from you, you won't be getting one. Budgetary reasons, as well as WTF? reasons. :)
If you are new & not yet on the list PM me before Friday if you want to exchange cards.
