Speaking of downtown, have you ever been to the Atomic Cafe? Is "Al's Bar" still there? What about that diner in the Flower District that opens at 3:00 am and serves amazing lemon merengue pie? I'm blanking on the name. Do you ever go get dim sum in Little Tokyo on the weekends? I think I miss that ritual the most. Wow, my mouth is watering just thinking about it.

Most (if not all) the building are built on rollers, so I guess you could say they "rock n roll." Al's Bar, sorry to say, is long gone. The last few nights people were literally tearing memotos off the bathroom walls, the doors, anything that was bolted down (and even some that was). Haven't been to the Atomic Cafe, but there's a cool bar downtown now called the Golden Gopher. Quite the Happy Hour once all the "suits" comingle with the artist's district. Flower Mart is still booming. My all time favorite though is the Pacific Dining Car. Pricey, but happy hour there has jumbo shrip the size of your big toe! and free too! i suppose it makes up for the $12 martinis. :mad:

she's doing better considering the circumstances.. got her reconstructive surgery last month. still not sure if the cancer is gone though. she had a lung scan done because she's coughing like a chain smoker so we are awaiting those results. i hope they're gonna be good this time!

did anyone else get a card yet?? i sent out a few.. i wrote them in front of a sex shop, if anyone cares. the shop sold garden gnomes that were flashing their willies.

I am really glad to hear your mom is doing relatively well. If she had radiation, perhaps that caused some irritation to her lungs, and the cough is nothing to worry over. In any case, I am proud of you for weathering what is such a stressful illness, and remaining kind and dutiful despite what you sometimes report is a difficult relationship. I am sending my best wishes your way.

Overall: not bad. six out of ten
A string of medium to minor accidents and mishaps; the business side of the trip didn't have such a good outcome (I even cried out of frustration, shhh, don't tell anyone), but the weather was good and Malta is beautiful (http://www.flickr.com/photos/30320402@N08/sets/72157624360668906/show/)and I got to see a bit of it (although not as much as I would've if my plane hadn't been delayed).
