your major books like math, history, science, usually won't be bought back because there will be a new edition out. now, the only thing different with the new addition is they switched two chapters. sneaky bastartds. compare old editions with new ones and get the old one for much cheaper. borrow the book from the library (they will have it and will order it if they don't) for the chapters that are missing or different. *bling*

Ah just when you think you're done paying for college, they ding you with the book costs.

It's crazy.

But it starts a wonderful library that you will tote around with you from place to place for years to come!

Seriously though, find three other friends to help divvy up the workload of reading and your years at college will be that much easier. Just make sure they're as bright as you are!

And yes...I see pot holders and oven mitts in thriftstores every day for like $1.50 ea...but I was bored so I made my own. Frankly mine work much better than any I have ever bought. I have 4 layers of t shirt material on each side of my hand plus the shell material...and the pot holder has 8 layers + shell...I can hold a hot things just out of the oven for quite a long time before I start feeling the heat.

I will never forget the story of JT and the bacon, although I have tried...damn you. :(

However...for a bit of bbq to fly over my head or around my body and hit me in the ass would require either some iffy physics...or a very swirly windy day, a day probably unfit for BBqing anyhow.

but...I will not bbq neked regardless.

One gallon of milk and two dendrobium orchids. Not purchased in the same place.
The Publix down the street has no power and is running minimal on a generator right now. I bought the dendro's to rescue them from a hot, humid atmosphere.
Got the milk at a Winn-Dixie not too far away. They had power but their cash registers were down so it took 45 minutes to go through the checkout line!
I suggested to the cashier that they get together with Publix since they had cash registers working but no power.
She didn't think that was funny...

Okay, I have to buy a new duvet. A new duvet cover, too, for that matter. For the queen-sized connubial bed. I bought the last one in 1986 at The Company Store (http://www.thecompanystore.com/dept.asp?dept%5Fid=1300) for 350 bucks USD, which in those days was reasonably serious dough. I am having to replace it because the cambric cotton is actually disintegrating after 18 years, letting out bits of down. Of course, the down is less downy, too, after 18 years, despite the TLC I have lavished on this thing.

Since I have to buy a lot of things this year to finish the new reno, this is a bit of a nuisance. I want to spend as little as possible. I'm hoping I can find similar quality through eBay or some online wholesaler for much less dough (in constant dollars) than I forked over way back then.

Can anyone offer advice?

Since I have to buy a lot of things this year to finish the new reno, this is a bit of a nuisance. I want to spend as little as possible. I'm hoping I can find similar quality through eBay or some online wholesaler for much less dough (in constant dollars) than I forked over way back then.

Can anyone offer advice?

L.L. Bean has wonderful qualofil duvets that range in the $150 area ... I've bought a ton of duvets over my lifetime and the qualofil seem to be the only ones that keep shape, and don't start shifting the stuffing around inside. You can check it out online.

I know, I know... hard to contain your excitement. Trust me, if you're a Sharpie lover, the word "retractable" is *very* exciting! If this wasn't exciting enough, you can search your Sharpies by "tip" and/or "color" on their site:

Sharpie Lovers Unite (http://www.sharpie.com) But do they have purple? I will not die happy until I can get an extra fine point Sharpie in purple.

Amazon believe it or not. It's pretty sweet too ... came with two pillow shams and a 16 inch square sham too.

I went on a bit of a binge shopping bout last week. For some reason I felt compelled to completely re-do my bedroom (so it no longer has any resemblance to anything it was prior) ... that's how I found the LL Bean duvet too.
