Kumquats. They're meant to be eaten peel and all, and I have to say they're not my favorite thing in the world.
auntie aubrey
07-11-2007, 09:31 PM
you're supposed to squeeze and roll them between your fingers before you eat them. it softens the skin and releases some of the juices.
still, not really worth the effort.

07-13-2007, 10:01 AM
I can tell this because I'm an American of largely Irish descent. :D
An Englishman, American, and Irishman, all walk into a bar, and each orders a beer. The bartender hands them their beers; however there are flies in each mug of beer.
The Englishman pushes the beer aside and says, "That's disgusting."
The American pulls the fly out and starts drinking the beer.
The Irishman pulls the fly out, sets it on the counter and shouts, "SPIT IT OUT YOU BASTARD."

I just had to register for courses online, and it sucked. It really, really sucked. I had to re-do my charts and make phone calls to various department offices to get something worked out. The system is still telling me that I can't take Chemistry 101 because I don't have the prerequisites, yet it lists no prerequisites in the prerequisite popup menu. The chemistry department is all out at summer commencement and the secretary is not a pleasant person today.

Naw, tending bras has never appealed to me. Not even when I was going through an odd phase in college.
So you won't be my partner in this hypothetical beach bar in Brazil? :(
Would you be with me if I adjoin a designer flip flop shop to the bar? You being the designer and all... :)
Kinda got into tending bras quite often: As a kid (10,11) I was allowed to tend the one in my stepfather's party cellar when we had this firm and/or family parties 5, 6 times a year. Was totally proud of that duty! Later in my year at boarding school (12th grade) I helped out in a Cuban bar (over which I also often rented a room on weekends when the boarding school had closed), but I was unfortunately not allowed to mix the cocktails, Renata the bralady let nobody behind her sacred counter, not even her brother, so I was just doing stuff like emptying ashtrays, cleaning tables, washing glasses etc. At my old university in Bavaria I always belonged to the service team at the notorious, famous Chemofete = chemistry faculty party, the best and biggest on the campus, the last two times before it got forbidden by city admin & police - ah that's Bavaria! - we had like 6000-8000 guests vs. max. 10 people actively serving at the two bras (me always at the beer bar, 2nd shift from midnight till we had to drag away the last drunks to clean up that major mess) - so it was more battling at the bras than tending ;) - but a helluva fun :D

the target market for maize leaf Gitanes are agriculturists over 75 years old, who make their own Gnôle.
Speaking of which, Gnôle shots on the house...prune flavored....

I've got some lechuguilla. It's kinda like tequila, but made from a kind of agave with spines so thick it's called the "Shin Dagger."

Although this reminds me of grocery shopping this morning. Always fun when there are 2 or more languages in common use. I caught sight of a frozen confection kinda like a Drumstick, labeled "Conos" and did a double-take...who else knows some slang?
Tildes are so important.

Have you had an avocado daiquiri? I'm going to go make enough for everyone and we can all try it. It's very pretty.
Blend until frothy:
1/2 avocado
4oz. white rum
6oz. frozen limeade concentrate
4oz. half-and-half (or was it 6oz.?)
1 1/2 C. ice
Pour, then drizzle a decorative amount of pomegranate molasses (available at middle-eastern specialty markets) over the top. MMMMmmmmm.

In Mexico, the avocados lie on the ground unwanted, there are so many. The dogs eat them like they're manna from heaven.
