brightpearl

^HAHAHAHAHA
I'm from TX...I probably drive the equivalent of "the other side of the country" to get to the grocery store...
eta: according to google maps, the drive from Amsterdam to Apeldoorn is less than my daily commute. :)
Frieda
11-02-2007, 09:45 PM
you drive 3 hours to work every day and then 3 hours back again??
i thought 3 hours in total for my previous job was bad.. glad i'm not in TX i guess!
brightpearl
11-02-2007, 09:53 PM
^OH, google must be wrong, then. I drive over an hour. But still, 3 hours to see free range monkeys is like nothing. You know, if you start out on Interstate Highway 10 on one edge of the state and drive straight, you'll still be in Texas 15 hours later....
Frieda
11-02-2007, 09:59 PM
nah i dont think google is wrong.. it just doesn't calculate traffic jams i guess.. country is small, but full of people and they all have cars because public transportation sucks.
previous job was 50 km away-- it's an 1,5 hour drive :(
i've always found it frustrating when i drive back home from paris-- that you can reach the dutch border in 2,5 hours, and then it still takes 2,5 to 3 hours to get home for the last 107 km.

flavor-saver
Ewww.
I gotta tell you, Brynn, people just forget about not changing their minds about stuff. They get thinking a certain way, and they don't bother to change it because it works. Like how until now I always thought it was "Drink macaroni, all night long," instead of "Train kept a-rolling, all night long." I just didn't seem that important. Maybe Bruce just dismissed her entirely, and then had a bout of embarrassment when he realized that Julianne wasn't just another bowl of mac and cheese in the diner of life. You know?
Brynn
12-29-2007, 04:44 AM
Yes, I do. Very profound and true. Although I admit I have a hard time imagining Bruce mistaking something as fancy as Julianne for macaroni. However, compared to Patti, she is macaroni.
Okay. Here are the only seats available for $95 each in Portland.
http://www.rosequarter.com/Portals/0/docs/bruce%20map.jpg
Section 319 row J seat 11-12. worth it or should I just play the CD over and over? I'm thinking it's not close enough. It's a basketball stadium. Even basketball players look tiny from up there. Bruce would be about a third of the size of that "A" in "STAGE."
Plus, I have no money. But I would find some if the red seats or GA was available.
Jack, that means because of you, I'm only three degrees of separation from Bruce. Less if i count the time I saw him jaywalk across four lanes of traffic on Beverly Boulevard holding hands with the WHORE.
Brynn
12-29-2007, 04:48 AM

12-29-2007, 05:02 AM
You know, trish, thinking it over, I'm sure that he must have written it long ago when the break up was fresh, and there was no room for it on Tunnel of Love.
OR it came after TOL but who knows, Patti may have been touchy about where his creative focus was going ("Bruce, are you still holding a torch for ol' Julianne???!?"), so he put it away for a decade or so until he figured he could regift it for a new CD and hope that everyone would just think it was about his teenage daughter. Which he will deny.

Alone again, naturally.
Time to change costume, take advantage of the privacy to practice and perfect those skills.
For those of you behind the bar, and in the kitchen, my next number i would like to sing a beautiful song from Cats, a song about Grizabella, a once Glamourous Cat, who has seen better days. Thank you. Thank you, I see we have some Broadway fans out there...
It's from a beautriful T.S. Eliot poem celebrating a cat with inner beauty...
(clears throat slightly) It goes like this....
http://www.catanna.com/gbella.jpg
Memories...light the corners of my mind...
Misty water-colored Memories
of the way we were ---
All alone in the moonlight
all alone with my memories
of the way we were
Can it be? I was beautiful then...
In my memory I remember what happiness was
or has time rewritten every line?
Burnt out ends of sleepy summer
has ravanged my fur.
someone stutters and the street lamp gutters and soon it will be morning
If we had the chance to do it all again,
Tell me, would we? Could we?
Touch me, and a new day will begin.

I got caught up in logistics this New Years - finding real caviar and super fresh oysters and goos quality aquavit was a little too complicated given the short amount of time that I had to prepare for the party.

Guess folks in here are very tolerant towards smirkers. But, as I had a slight overdose of coffeine - next time I'll drink only half the plantage! am still shaking - and to save our braman from troubles if/when police starts to control 'smirking in public places', I built something last night...
... if you would follow me through the smirk-proof curtain...

(yeah, I know all these colours, but that was the only thing I could organize at 4 am in a such a Spätkauf (late-buy) place)
But here we are in the fantastic, cosy (beware of the couches these are so damn comfy after I tested one it took me hours till I could force myself to get up again)

OK, plans revised, am not going back to bed so soon. There was just some sort of brawl in the internet cafe   and they locked the door from the inside, gods know why, the women who just walked by said they're talking something out
I'll have a whiskey till they let us out again (a crowd has gathered at the door, one of employees has fetched a key but nothing happens yet)
http://www.whiskey-fuehrer.de/img/whiskey.jpg
Phew...
Edit: Just talked with the guy - he asked to put out his cigarette in my ashtray - who got attacked (out of the blue he told), he says the offender is still there in the front, some interior got smashed in their fight and they are waiting for the police, but things have calmed down a bit and clients can leave again, after them the door gets locked again. So I'll sneak out now... Too crass!

^See the edit. I mean I know (from the employees) that strange fellows are making trouble here (internet cafe in my house) at night, on weekend particularly. But something like that did not happen before. During all the fuss I stayed at my booth and just watched the part I could see (I guy jumping at sth/so) from here and I heard the shattering. I think I'll hang out still awhile till the cops arrive, it's again a bit tense there in the front of the cafe.

^Holy carp! Be careful!
Suddenly I feel less concerned about being frazzled and overworked and exhausted! At least I can walk outside...
You need to relax as much as I do...let's have some tea and some good dark chocolate.

Nay, that yesterday was totally out of the ordinary, I feel very save in Berlin in general and in F'hain (my extended living room, a bit messier than my actual one and overwhelmingly populated by nice people) in particular. A lot saver than in the smaller cities Ingolstadt and Regensburg I lived in before. Strange but true.
Thanx for the superb Schoki - dark one is best!

^^Dude must have slipped in in my absence (ya, am back after being threatened by such a guy with beer bottle - no not in the internetcafe, that one is calm and peaceful, but at the bus stop in front of the station. Wtf, is up with people on Friday evening??  I mean I can understand it a little with people who have jobs Mo-Fri are a bit out of order, but neither this guy nor the folks smashing the good red wine two weeks ago, see further up this thread, looked like employed anywhere...)
Anyway, after some 'discussion' (yes, am on 180 now too ;)) I made the dude (the one with the baloons, not the one with the beer bottle) let go of that, and make something neat out of plastic bags for CJ

I'm in a biscuit mood today...
Lookit, Green Peas Biscuits
Ingredients:
130 gm. deep-fried green peas (availabe in bakery marts)
130 gm. icing sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
150 gm. plain flour
100 gm. groundnut oil
1 egg yolk for glazing
Method:
(1) Place all the ingredients into a mixing bowl and mix till a dough is formed.
(2) Roll down between 2 sheets of plastic and roll out. Use a plain round cookie cutter to cut the cookies and place onto baking tray.
(3) Brush with egg glaze.
(4) Bake at 170C for about 15 - 20 mins or till cooked.
(5) Cool completely before storing into cookie containers.
