Gabe and Tycho, for Frieda (sorry, it's rather blurry)
http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/4416/gabetycho1hg1.jpg
I had a lot of fun there. There were a lot of lines, and the place was crammed to the brim, but there was a strong sense of community, everyone was friendly and helpful, and everything I lined up for was well worth it. Nice to be home though, I was in great need of sleep and healthy food after that weekend.
I found a picture that someone took that I'm in. (my sentence structure is fantastic, in case didn't notice :P)

We saw the three Penny Arcade Panels, the Red vs. Blue people ( I love them!), the last Omegathon round, which was Tetris, and the two concerts on friday and saturday.
By the way, the first concert featured the Video Game Pianist, who is famous online from playing the Super Mario Bros. theme blindfolded. He's a very talented guy.
We also attended "Beat the Pros", where they had a professional gamer against people from the crowd. I was the only girl to play Soul Calibur, and I did all right. (Only one person actually beat him)
There were lots of things to do, they had an exhibition room filled with games that weren't out yet, and a few of freeplay rooms to play video games. The main floor was packed with these giant bean bags, and people were lounging on them and playing their DS's (there were literaly thousands of DS's there)
It was packed to the brim the whole time, but I've never been such a nice mass of people. Everyone was friendly and helpful, and there was a wonderful overall feeling of community. I have a lot of great memories from that weekend.

Very nervous, especially because I was the only girl, and I didn't want people to think that I was bad just because I was a "girl gamer". What was comforting though, is that I didn't go first, so I could watch the pro beat a bunch of guys. I knew I probably wasn't going to win, so that made it better. I'm just glad I did some damage and didn't get beat into the ground too deeply.
I miss PAX. It was so much fun.
I did make a deal with myself though. As soon as I get an actor's agent, I will buy myself a DS Lite (http://www.mobilemag.com/content/images/7717_large.jpg). After a summer of not doing much at all, this is excellent motivation.

Last night I broke the catch on my front door and had to use the chubb lock to keep the door closed. This morning, when leaving for work, I discovered I was locked in! The stupid fvckin lock will only open from the outside... I had to climb out the front window (thankfully I live on the ground floor) open the door from the outside, go in and make sure the window was locked and then re-lock the door from the outside! I was 1 hour late for work. Great

My friend is quite a bad sleepwalker. A few years ago she woke up naked outside her flat in the middle of the night. She was locked out and had no way to get back in. Rather than try and wake any neighbours and scare them with her nakedness she decided to empty the rubbish out of a black bin bag, turn it inside out so the dirt was on the outside, make 3 holes in it and put it on as some kind of makeshift dress. Her mum lived about 2 blocks down so she ran all the way there and woke her up instead!
Now although this is hilarious, and we all still tease her about it to this day, it could have been nasty had she encountered any crazies on the way... mind you.. it is Brighton where anything goes! :D

One of my coworkers, whom I barely knew because he had been out on extended medical leave following surgery for lung cancer (removal of what had formerly been his better lung, the other already touched by emphysema), and had subsequently made infrequent trips to the office attached to an oxygen tank, and whom I just went, with others in the office, to visit to celebrate his birthday in his home (adorably decorated by his wife; we had coffee and cupcakes and talked at length about many people I'd never met - I mostly listened, for once) passed away last night. He had been suffering from bronchitis which he could not seem to recover from. He was in his sixties. He was a very sweet and gentle man, brilliant. A vast amount of knowledge and ability disappears with him.
I awoke this morning coughing and clearing my throat. The air quality must have been poor last night, must have been too much for his already compromised lung to handle.
I don't know what I believe about afterlife, but for his sake, I hope he's floating free and comfortable, no need to struggle for breath.
Please, friends - if you smoke, do whatever it takes to quit smoking. You don't know whom you're going to leave behind who wishes they got to know you better.

I think L. DaVinci was COOL. What a brain. What an artist. What a scientist. He had so many irons in so many fires that he had a hard time finishing anything. I think he was more of a scientist than an artist, but since science was such a new form, he expressed his thoughts visually rather than mathematicaly...perhaps he wasn't even really good at math, and instead had an intuition about how things worked. I can relate to him in some ways. I've always been a "scetch inventor" and have notebooks filled with diagrams for inventions and devices, most never built. I can relate to his Isolation, having been single and feeling like an "oddball" all my life. And I suck at math but have a really good feel/intuition for the physics of things.
As for the new loony poster trying to make him into some "holographic" "universalist" "whatever"...pffft. As soon as I saw that the guy found a "Holy Grail" in a mirror image of the edges of the Mona Lisa I knew he was a nutjob. A ****ing wine glass is gonna be a VERY common image in any mirror imaged image. DaVinci was inspired by the natural world, not religion, (his commisioned religious motifes aside...because Every artist in those days was commisioned to paint religious themes, the only folks commisioning art at that time were either the church, or nobels who supported the church which supported them). That nonsense can't shake my respect for DaVinci's work. You can see in his sketchbooks that it was science and physics that inspired him...not Holy Grails. AND..AND...Duh...when the Mona Lisa was originally painted, it had columns on the left and the right side, she was painted sitting on a terrace....HOW did L. DaVinci know to paint a mirror image Holy Grail in just the right spot to coincide with some future "Cut" for Michael Dumbass to "discover" some great unknown Truth about Davinci...Dumbass.
Personally, I think the Mona Lisa was one of his probably rare lovers. If he had an attachment to that image, it was the kind of attachment one would have for a photo of a fond and cherished memory.
Just my humble opinions.

Strangely,
Judging by how you talk you are probably from north Jersey, New York City, Connecticut or Rhode Island. Chances are, if you are from New York City (and not those other places) people would probably be able to tell if they actually heard you speak.
However I'm from Yorkshire and speak with a decidedly British accent

I'm the Inland North which is true since i'm originally from Chicago. cool!
i'm inland north as well, which is probably true since i'm from southeast michigan.
weird thing is, i thought i managed to shake the accent after moving to the south. i got tired of the "YA'LL'S FROM OHIO OR SOMETHIN'?!" questions. still, the quiz got me.
